Rating: Summary: COOL Review: A GREAT BOOK AND A MUST READ FOR ANYONE.
Rating: Summary: Short Review on "The Long Patrol" Review: I liked this book because it didn't concentrate on the Redwall Abbey as most of the other books did (I know there are certain exceptions to that statement). Brian Jacques writes in such a way that when you read his work, it feels like you're among the characters in the book, doing whatever they're doing, seeing what they see, hearing what they hear. I especially enjoyed the part where Tammo (the main character, a young hare whose dream is to join the Long Patrol under Badger Lady Cregga Rose Eyes) and Midge Manycoats (an officer in the Long Patrol) disguised themselves as Rapscallions (the villains in the book; vermin such as stoats, rats, ferrets, and weasels). This is a very good book with lots of action, and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't find it excruciatingly painful to sit down and read a good book once in a while.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as the others Review: I liked this book, but I like the other Redwall books better. Some parts of it are great as in the other books in the Redwall series, but some are really boring, unlike the others. Certain parts are so boring that I had to put the book down for a while because I got really bored. Over all, I liked the other Redwall books better than this one.
Rating: Summary: Redwall books Review: Like Anne McCaffrey, Jacques writes his books out of order. as far as I can tell this is the cronological order of the redwall books. Martin the warrior, Mossflower, Redwall, Mattimeo, Mariel of Redwall, Bellmaker, Salamandastron, Outcast of Redwall, Pearls of Lustra, Long Patrol, Don't know about anyone else but I like to read them in historical order instead of read past, present, past, past , prequel, present and so on. But they are good books so what ever order you want to read them, you'll enjoy them.
Rating: Summary: Good! Review: This book is short but sweet. This has to be the Redwall book with the coolest war scenes. There is so much action crammed in this book it is not even funny.I started reading it just because it was a Redwall book.To find out it is the best one I have read. You must go and read this book.I think you will find it intreging. If you aren't a fan then read this one you will change your mind.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as some others--but not bad. Review: This book was, although not bad (in fact, rather good), not up to Brian Jacques's usual quality of writing. The comic relief seemed out-of-place on the battlefield, the characters were not as fine-tuned as usual, and the simplistic "Disney" effect seemed to carry over here more than in any other Redwall books. The main character, Tammo, a young hare who wants to join the Long Patrol, is an obnoxious brat who suddenly transforms into a hero. Although his adventure was interesting to read, his character seemed disposable and Jacques has created much better heroes. Tammo's lady love was not characterized at all, and I would have liked to have read far less of Tammo and more of Cregga Rose Eyes, the first female Salamandastron badger Lady we've read about; indeed, she seemed secondary to the plot until the Bloodwrath came along. Although Jacques continued to define the Abbey characters from Pearls well (Tansy, Craklyn, Viola, Diggum, Arven, etc.), the Abbey subplot, in which the southern wall was falling and Abbess Tansy and her friends discovered the treasure of Verdauga Greeneyes, was pretty lame in my humble opinion. Also, did anyone else notice the apparent change of gender for "Foremole Diggum and HIS moles" and "Goodwife Gurrbowl"? If I remember correctly, Diggum was originally a female and Gurrbowl was a male.
