Rating: Summary: Kids are abandoned! Review: The book homecoming is exciting. You don't know what's going to happen next. It is a good book to read to a little child or to read to yourself even by yourself. The book homecoming is adventurous. Four kids, the oldest is thirteen, are abandoned at a mall by their mom. They have to be sneaky so they don't get caught by the police and have to go to a foster home. So they go to their aunt's house but something happens. They run low on money so they have to go hungry for awhile. They meet some mean people and some nice people also along the way to find a home.
Rating: Summary: Mom leaves kids in a shoping mall . Review: The first time I was reading it I thought it was boring but I had to read it. Then I got half way in it and it got better so I started to get into it.
Rating: Summary: The book that made me want to read it over and over again Review: This book is the best book I could ever read. It starts out when a 13 year old girl named Dicey, and her little sister, and two brothers get left in the parking lot of a mall. They didn't know why they stopped, but the only thing they knew right then, was that they're going to their Aunt Cilla's; and they have not even been there or seen her before! When Momma leaves them in the parking lot, the kids decide to wait untill she comes back. Then Dicey decides to take charge, because she knows that Momma isn't comming back. Next it's a challange against nature and survival! The kids decide to go to Aunt Cilla's house, and they only have a little amount of $11, a couple of sandwitches, and some clothes! Then Dicey thinks then why can't take the car?(She's only 13!) But that's another problem, Momma took the keys. So then they decide to take this adventure on FOOT! I don't know how they can do it. Along the way they meet a couple of people that help them, and some that don't. The exciting part is that every time they find a place where they can stay, it turns out that they can't! Also they find interesting ways to get money on this long adventure. They have a lot of luck, courage, and lying on this trip. In the book they find out what happened to Momma, and does this make the kids happy or not?... During this Dicey and here family of Sammy (6), Maybeth (9), and James (10) thinks if they should give up or just run away from everything for the rest of their life; and never have a home. This book is for someone who likes their imagination to go wild, and looking for a book with a TON of adventure!
Rating: Summary: Once you start reading you'll never want to stop! Review: I first read this book in sixth grade. I never would have read it if it wasn't part of my grade! I rated it five stars because it was an awesome book and one of the best I've ever read! If I was 13 and had three siblings (6,9,&10) I would have lost my mind! How could Dicey do it? I mean have only [a few dollars] and have to walk all the way to Aunt Cilla's. It was awesome the way she supported her family with little money. I could not have put up with all of James questions(10) or the constent whining of Sammy(6), thank god for Maybeth(9), who knew the right things to say to shut him up. I think that she's shy not stupid. I would give Dicey an award for the things she did for that family! I think everyone should read this book, even adults. It really gets you thinking!
Rating: Summary: LOST! Review: The book Homecoming is about 4 children named Dicey (13), James (10), Maybeth (9), and Sammy (6). Their mom left them at a shopping mall in Peewauket with $11.00. Dicey was the oldest and the only relative they know was Aunt Cilla who lived in Bridgeport. (About 80 miles away) They had to get there some how. I thought this book was just okay, it was very hard to try to get into. You have to like this kind of book. It starts out slow at the begining of the story but eventually gets better.
Rating: Summary: My Book Report Review: Every month, for my english class we are assigned a book report. We are given various choices in which to present it, and one of those choices is to post a review on amazon.com. It makes me sad to think of what these kids had to go through. Being alone for so many weeks at a time and traveling throughout the country without an adult. I would be terrified. The part of the book I found most humorous, was when Dicey, the oldest, is mistaken as a male (this happens twice in the book). I would resent it entirely, but she went along with it. What I disliked most about the book is that it describes how hard life is for these children. It really makes think of how great your life really is. I also would have liked it if the grandmother was a little nicer.
Rating: Summary: Homecoming Review: I just read a book called Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt. It is about four kids, Maybeth, Sammy, James, and Dicey. Their mother had a breakdown from stress so she set them on the long, tiring road to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where their supposedly rich great-aunt Cilla. The journey is long and tiresome, and often they are hungry but have nothing to eat. When they finally get to Bridgeport, they find that Aunt Cilla isn't rich. She doesn't live in a mansion next to the ocean, in fact, she isn't even alive! Instead, they find Aunt Cilla's daughter, Cousin Eunice, a jumpy and very nervous person. She takes them in only because they are flesh and blood, because she feels that she has to. Even though they are off the streets and out of the wind and rain, it isn't safe for Dicey or James, especially not Maybeth or Sammy. They need to leave, but their only other relative is their solitary, supposedly crazy grandmother, who lives all the way in Crisfield, Maryland! What will they do? If you want to know, read the thrilling novel, Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt!

Very well written, interesting, and heartwarming. I am 40 years old and I would recommend these books to anyone. I am now a Cynthia Voight fan. I can't wait to read the rest of the Tillerman saga!
Rating: Summary: I was forced to read this piece of [...] Review: I absolutely despise this book. I probably would nver have read it, but I was forced to do to an upcoming reading compition. It is so repitious that you can barely tell the difference from one chapter to another. Practicly the whole story is about some kids walking and trying to find food. Sounds exciting doesn't. Please same yourself some time and money and dont even pick up this awefull book. [I'm sorry for any spelling mistakes]
