Rating: Summary: I remember the original cover... Review: It is amazing what a book can do for you. I am 27 years old. I still remember reading this book when I was in 3-4th grade. The cover of the book showed Marcy on steps, she had blonde hair, and I remember reading this, and not wanting to go out to play with my cousins. The title stuck out so much. I am a mother of two now, and it doesn't seem like that long ago when I read the book. I am going back, and trying to recover all those books I grew up with as a kid. Because I enjoyed them so much, I want MY kids to read them as well. It is amazing... amazing that I remember the title, and amazing reading other reviews of other young readers, and their reaction to the book. I hope they will remember the impact it has on them as it did for me. Even 20 years later!! Thank you for the memories!!!
Rating: Summary: wow Review: it was a all over good book i thought. it seemed very appropriate for the age group that it is for. yes i for sure would reccomend it to other people.
Rating: Summary: An excellent true-to-life story of high-school, and gym. Review: It's not east being a high-school blimp, hating gym and having an awful father. Marcie tells it like it is in this brilliant book. But is her new teacher, who is just starting to bring Marcie out of her shell, here to stay?
Rating: Summary: Well Written and Sweet Review: Marcy has a hard life since her dad's smoking habit, his utter sense of dislike in her existince and not to mention making insane excuses of not having a gymsuit. As Marcy begins to get a teacher she really likes, she realizes that sometimes being fat on the outside may not be so bad when she finds her inner nice self on the inside.
Rating: Summary: Well Done, Paula Review: Marcy Lewis hates school and her father is very strict and mean. Marcy is also very fat and wishes she was very thin. Then she gets a new English teacher named Ms. Finley. She is willing to do anything with her students. Next, Ms. Finley gets fired. After that, Marcy's best friend [Nancy] has a party. Joel asks Marcy out to Nancy's party. I think I told you too much about the book, so go get your wallet and buy this book!

Rating: Summary: Just as I remember it! Review: Oh Boy! I remember these (meaning Paula Danziger) books from when I was Marcy's age. I guess they're in a new printing since I'm in my 30's. It may have been re-formatted a little bit (I mainly mean the cover, my 8 year old daughter would choke over the fashions depicted on MY version) but happily, the message still hits home. I'm slowly accquiring these again for my daughter to enjoy as I did, life's lessons can be learned through entertaining reading. Thanx to Paula Danzinger on behalf of the next generation!
Rating: Summary: The Cat Ate My Gymsuit Review: So here I am writing a review of a book that I purloined from my 7th grade english class(27 years ago). Over the years, I have reread this great book about a zillion times. I mean... how can you not connect with a teen who feels out of place with her peers, is worried about boys liking her, will do anything to hide her acne, has dysfunctional parents and a brother who stuffs orange pits into his teddy bear? When I was 13, I thought that someone had written a book about my life (let's hear it for a book that features a plus size teen). I read this book and knew that I was not alone in my fears and concerns. Today, as a mom of 2 preteens, I am instantly put back in touch with the feelings my own daughters are experiencing as they set off into the jungle that is Junior High. This book has something to offer to parents and kids alike. I hope that my resounding reccomendation of this book will be sufficient pennance for that act 27 years ago. Sorry Mrs. Kastens!
