Summary: One of the best books I've read!
Review: "The Cat ate my gym suit" by Paula Danzinger, was a fabulos book. The book was full of laughter and real events happing today in Amerca. Some parts of the book were a bit exagerated but very true. In the story, a young girl named Marcy Lewis feared she was too fat and ugly to get a boyfriend went on a long rollar coster of events that changed her life. Marcy was having problems at home, hre dad verbally abused both her and her brother. Marcy's mother never defended her in fear that her and her husband may end up in a fight, although she did not aprove of this type of behavior. The only people Marcy felt she had left that she could talk to was her friend Nancy and her younger brother Stuart, until Ms. Barbra Finney, her new English teacher came along. Ms. Finney helped Marcy relize that her life has a perpose and that she shouldn't be afraid to express herself around others. Marcy's new self- confidence not only landed her a boyfriend, named Noel but also a date to the dance. Then when Marcy thought her new found life at school was headed on the right track, the unthinkable happend Ms. Finney was suspended from her work. When Marcy decided to stand up for Ms. Finney her mom was behind her all the way but ofcourse her father was not, which caused friction at home. Marcy too was suspended. Things didn't turn out the way Marcy or Ms. Finney would have like them to, but in the end Marcy used her new knowledge to keep her head up high and not be ashamed, and so he did woth out Ms. Finney. I would recommend this book to a girl my age most definatly or even a teacher whose up for a good laugh and some sad moments. Over all this was an awsome book and i rate it 4 stars!

Summary: An Excellent Read
Review: "The cat ate my gymsuit," said Marcy Lewis. This was her excuse from gym class. Paula Danziger certainly doesn't need an excuse for this excellent book. In Danziger's first book she addresses the issues of a typical teenager and how the teen deals with those problems. Danziger makes the book interesting to the reader by giving the story a touch of humor, which results with a smile on the reader's face. I believe that this is a wonderful book to read because of the teen issues involved and also how the humor was used to cheer the situation up when the it wasn't exactly the best situation. I would definitly recommend this book to anyone, anyone willing to read an excellent novel that is. Paula Danziger does a beautiful piece of work with this book

Summary: A brave book
Review: A girl named Marcy Louis is having problems at school. What happens is a teacher that the eighth graders finally like, has got suspended by the principal for not having her class say the pledge of allegiance. So Marcy and three other students that where in the same class stud up and demanded that they let there teacher back into the school. I think Paula Danziger did a very good job on this story, She made the story very interesting. I think if the author made another The Cat Ate My Gym suit I would read it.

In the story at Marcy's house no one is getting along. Marcy, her mother, and baby brother. Aren't getting along with Mr. Louis, Because Mr. Louis thinks Marcy is doing something wrong.

Whould you have stud up for your teacher like that?

Finally things are settled, but you have to have to read the book to find out the great ending.
The Cat Ate My Gym suit is a book I think every one should read this book. This book relates to kids in Jr. High School and other people. I like this book, because it is funny and in some way relates to me. The name of this book does not mean any thing. The name of this book doesn't mean any thing. The book is mostly about some one taking up for them selves.

Every man, woman, and child should read this book, because it is the best.

Summary: A great read that is still great
Review: I am now a mom who read this book when I was my oldest daughter's age. I bought this book last night along with "There's a Bat in Bunk Five" and re-read both of them before giving them to my daughter for her Accelerated Reading program at school. I have to say that the messages that Ms. Danziger teaches in these books are timeless, especially in the current state of national and world affairs. You CAN be an alternative thinking person and make a positive difference in people's lives - however odd or non-conventional your methods. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has ever felt "on the outside" - you really aren't alone!

Summary: GOOD BUT NOT GREAT
Review: I bought this book because it's a part of Puffin's Modern Classic for Children. I thought this would introduce me to outstanding literary titles for kids. I was a bit disappointed by what I've read; or maybe YA/ Children's Literature in the U.S. have developed rapidly (this book was originally published in the `80s). 1. The characters are not fully developed esp. the main character and her father; 2. the concern of the kid like pimples and obesity are not exactly original and new these days; 3. im disappointed by political stand of the English teacher in the story (it left me hanging; im not satisfied with her decision to resign after the kids lobby for her reinstatement); 4. the roles of the protagonist's family are stereotypical; 5. the 'romance' substory is not really promising and not cute either (they are so uptight!); 6. the whole storyline is not original or maybe, maybe, this is the pioneering novel using obesity, self-esteem, mentor-student relationship, (verbally) abusive father as topics. Read the book itself--it took me only half of the day to finish. It's readable but i kept asking for more.

Summary: A book that has really relate to me.
Review: I first heard about this book when I was doing it for my book report in 6th grade. At first, I really wasn't into reading. To me all books were boring, but this book prove me wrong. When I read this book, I could really relate to Marcy and her problems. From that point my reading interest started to increase, and now I gain much interest in reading many books which I think is very interest. And I just have to thank Paula Danziger for that.

Summary: The Blimp -- a review by Hope, age 9
Review: I have recently been going back and reading some of my favorite books from when I was young. I enjoyed this book as much if not more this reading and I am 33 now! I highly recommend reading this book for a nice escape into the life of 13 year old in the 70's. (The original printing is what I recommend, the description above sounds like they may have updated the book and that as far as I am concerned would ruin the whole point of it. Find an old copy!)
