Summary: Not one of Paulsen's best books
Review: This was a good sequal book to "Hatchet" though I though that it was too perdictable. I mean that in the end you knew that Brain was to be saved. Also Brain remembered Everything he saw about survival and off TV. But it was exciting in parts. But that bear could and can hurt Brain a bit more than it did. Why couldn't Brain come down w/ the flu or something? He didn't even have a headach for that matter. Not one of the best I've ever read.

Summary: A young boy battles against the wilderness
Review: This is a sequel to the award-winning novels, Hatchet and The River. This is what would have happened if the plane wouldn't have crashed. This is an excellent novel. Gary Paulsen is a great author, and this book is one of his best!

Summary: Too Predictable
Review: After reading "Hatchet" anyone can say that this book is too predictable.I don't know why Paulsen had to write a sequel. The Hatchet story was a done deal.I have to admit that the story had a great storyline and plot but it still needs a lot of editing.Like many other reviewers said,I think it's too short.Given a choice,I would choose hatchet instead of this cheap sequel.I was definatly ripped off.

Summary: Great "compainion" to Hatchet!
Review: I was so glad when I found out that Gary Paulsen had decided to write a companion to Hatchet. I really was unhappy with the ending of Hatchet. I would've made Brian's Winter longer though, possibly more detail of the surroundings, to refresh my mind. After all, I read this three years after Hatchet, but am glad I did.

Summary: It was great, more like 6 stars
Review: It was amazing and exciting. I loved it. My favorite part was when he tried to make the bear leave the camp, but the bear threw him around. Luckily he was not injured too bad. That was my favorite part of the book.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very good, but too short for my tastes.
Review: This book was well written and fun to read. However, I think that some of the books that Paulsen wrote are too short: I read this one in a few hours. It makes survival stories more interesting if there is more detail, and a longer plot.

Summary: It's an awsome book!
Review: My name is Alan Slagle and I am 13 years old. I am a seventh grade student at the Cadillac Middle School. Our class is writing a letter to an author.

I have read many of your books. I liked THE HATCHET, BRIAN'S WINTER, and CAPTIVE the most. I liked all the books of yours that I have read. We read BRIAN'S WINTER in class. It is a really good book. I liked Betty, the skunk and how she made Brian give food to her. I also liked how she saved Brian from the bear. It had a really good ending.

I hope you come out with more exciting books. I really enjoy your adventurous books. They're really great.
