Rating: Summary: A Cherished Memory....an amazing book. Review: I remember feeling very bummed out one day when I was very young. My mother suggested I go with her to the book store and choose something to read. We picked out this particular book together. When I got home, I sat on the floor in my room and didn't come out until I had finished it. I was so grateful to my mother for taking me along that day! I stopped feeling sorry for myself after reading all the horrible things Georgie had gone through. I am so glad that book has been a part of my life. I am 28 years old now and my copy of the book has fallen apart over these many years. Thanks Goodness for amazon! and Thank God for Irene Hunt!
Rating: Summary: One of The Best Books Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This book kept me hooked for 3 hours, until I had read it all. It taught me a lesson, not only about child abuse, but about love. I read this book last week in 6th grade and it was absolutely sensational, it is put together just right, so it keeps your attention the whole time. I plan on rereading this book this summer, and would reccomend it to anyone in a snap!!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent book dealing with child abuse and friendships. Review: Irene Hunt does a superb job of telling the moving story of seven-year-old Georgie Burgess, who was abused and neglected by his mother and her boyfriend. As a result of this abuse, Georgie withdrew from his classmates. Later, Georgie won a rose bush in a grocery store lottery. The rose bush was Georgie's only friend until he was placed in a Catholic boys home. At the home Georgie found the friendships and the love that he did not have. Recommended for readers age twelve and up.
Rating: Summary: An all-time favorite Review: I read this book for the first time when I was in eighth grade. I'm now a sophomore at Duke University and I still consider it one of my favorite books. I will pick it up randomly and just sit down and read it all the way through. The story touches my heart and is a true testament to the effect that love can have on children. Even though I know exactly what will happen, I still find myself choking up at the upsetting parts. An excellent and beautifully written novel.
Rating: Summary: The Best Review: We are are reading this book in our lit and lang class. it is the best it reflects the real life situations of kids it also tells a good moral. it also talks about life. i recommend this to anyone and everyone.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Work! Review: This was one of the most touching and exciting stories I have ever read. I never put it down once I read it, and I read it in a few hours. It is about a seven year old boy named Georgia Burgess who is being abused by his mother and her boyfriend. I think that person who gave it one star, misunderstood the plot completely, and I completely disagree with what they said about this wonderful piece of literature.
Rating: Summary: TOO SAD Review: The Lottery Rose was too depressing. Georgie, Robin, and everything that happened in the book made me collapse in tears. I would not recommend it to anyone under age twenty.
