Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK Review: Normally, I don't like stories that are sad or require you to be sympethising. However, this book is one of the best I have ever read. Its a moving story that no preteen or teenager should miss out on. My 6th grade teacher had the class read this book, and I adored it. A boy, who has nothing and is beated up by a evil man, loves roses. Later, he wins a bush that means everything to him. Yes, this sounds strange, but if you read the book it will make sense. After reading this book, I have a better appreciation of my life.
Rating: Summary: The Lottery Rose Review: I only rate this book as a 4 star, because I never had the opportunity to finish it. I started reading this book when I was in the 7th grade(that was 21 years ago)and lost it. This book has stayed in my memory all these years and I always hoped to find it again. Thanks to the internet I was able to locate the book and will finally finish it. I'm sure it will be a 5 star rating.

Rating: Summary: Too Good To Be True Review: This book was assigned to me in my eigth grade english class. When i saw the title i was thinking "yuck" why would our teacher want us to read a story about a stupid Rose, but i was definatly wrong. As i read i couldn't put it down. It's a sad story by the end of the last chapter i literally shed a bucket full of tears. Poor George had no place to turn to until he won his rose bush. This book is Too Good To Be True. I really thank my eigth grade teacher for making me read it.
Rating: Summary: Searing, painful and ultimately triumphant Review: "The Lottery Rose" is the story of Georgie, a young boy who wins a rosebush in a grocery contest. Severely abused by his mother and her boyfriend, Georgie's trust and love are reserved only for his flower. His painful journey toward healing is sensitive and realistic. A very beautiful, wrenching, story.
Rating: Summary: A look at the Lottery Rose Review: The Lottery Rose was a great book that I enjoyed! I found the book so true to life even though it was a false story that had never occured. As a grade eleven student in Nova Scotia, the book was easy reading but even though I never wanted to put down. I admiered the main character of the book[Georgie] for the bravery that he had, after all the pain and abuse he want through with his family and community surroundings. I feel that the rose bush was not only Georgie friend but a keep sake that filled him with hope. The bush was the only reason that Georgie was not giving up, because he knew that the bush could not survive with georgie. They kept each other on there feet!
Rating: Summary: The Lottery Rose Review: I thought "The Lottery Rose" was an ok book. The things that happen in this book are realistic. Georgie, the main character, does not get along with most other people. Nobody likes him, except the librarian at his school. That is a conflict of man versus society. Georgie's step-dad beats him, and his mother doesn't do anything about it. This is also a conflict. This conflict is man versus man. The police find out about what goes on at home, and Georgie gets sent off to a private school. That solved his man versus man conflict. His man versus society conflict is also solved. It takes awhile, but Georgie eventually gets along with everyone. A lot of little things happen that make it a pretty good story. But overall, it's not that bad.
Rating: Summary: Simply Beautiful Review: I felt that this was a beutiful novel, written by an author with clear poise and writing ability. It was touching, heartfelt, and had it pulling your heartstrings. It is a wonderful book, with true value. Georgie represents all of the opressed children of America. His struggles and triumphs bring a tear to teh eye. I'm strongly urging you to read this book and see it all for yourself.
Rating: Summary: A very touchiing book! Review: Georgia Burgess has a very hard life He's abused by his mother's boyfriend, and his mother is always drunk. He finally gets hurt so bad that he almost doesn't survive. After this, he is taken out of his home, and put in a boy's home, with his prized rose. His rose is very special to him because he won it at a loocal grocery store all by himself. Once in this home, things start to get better, but his rose is another story. To find out what happens to his rose and him, read this book!
Rating: Summary: The Best EVER! Review: This book is one that I read to my fifth grade class every year. It touches your heart in so many ways. It teaches compassion, empathy and so many other valuable life skills. Once you start reading, you won't be able to put it down. Fabulous book!
