Summary: The View from Saturday
Review: The View from Saturday is the only book I have enjoyed reading. I had to read it for a summer reading project and something kept me reading it for hours at a time. It is about four kids who are chose to compete in the middle school level acedemic bowl by thier teacher who returned to teaching ten years after a paralyzing car accident. The four kids become very good friends. I reccomend this book for people who like sucess stories or who like stories that are not true but that can happen.

Summary: It's a Must Read
Review: When is the last time a book made you laugh out loud? This humorous, fiction book The View From Saturday by E.L. Konigsberg will make you laugh and think. I think this book is an excellent choice if you love humorous books!! Though there are so many different conflicts and plots going on in each chapter it is hard to keep track of who is going where and what is happening to what. If you like this book you might try reading The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Eli Basil also by E.L. Konigsberg. I think this is the perfect book for kids in fifth through eighth grade. So I encourage you to read this fabulous and exciting book.

Summary: The View From Saturday
Review: In the book that's called The View From Satuday, there are five main characters. Four of the main characters are students at Epiphany Middle School. The other main charater is a 6th grade teacher, and an Academic couch. She resently came back after a car accident that killed her husband which happened ten years ago. The 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Olinski, teaches the four main characters, Noah Gershom, Nadia Diamondstein, Ethan Potter, and Julian Singh. In the story The View From Saterday, all the main characters have a problem. None of the main characters have the same problem. Some prolems aren't even obvious until later in this book. During this book, Mrs. Olinski chooses four students for her Academic Bowl team. Noah Gershom learns the steps of Calligraphy. Nadia Diamondstein, goes to see her dad, grandfather and his new wife. She also goes on nightly turtle walks to check on the baby turtles with her dad, grandparents, and her cousin Ethan Potter who is in her class. Julian Singh is a weird boy who just arrived in town. In this story Nadia Diamonstein feels lonely and left out. She thinks that no one cares about her. This is a wonderful book you should read.

Summary: Filling your pen
Review: On the surface, this is a tale of four children who bond together prior to being selected by their wheelchair-bound 6th grade teacher for an academic competition. There are simple pleasures, as the five overcome adversity to climb the ladders of success while less mature types are left behind. But this is a book that is much more complex. Each child brings some piece to the puzzle, and the book becomes less and less about a competition, and more and more about a journey, about caring, about patience, and about filling your pen. A very good read, and I suspect it is unusual in that it offers sixth graders a fairly realistic look at how their teachers may feel about them.

Summary: Confusing
Review: Overall, The View from Saturday is pretty good. It has some interesting plots and unique characters. But it's very confusing and extremly...uh... different. To enjoy this book you must have an open mind. If you want to lay back and read to relax your mind, this book is not for you. It will give you a headache trying to figure out what's going on. This book is for people who think beyond the obvious on a daily basis, love to expand their mind, and like to see things in all different perspectives.

Summary: Not only for kids!
Review: This is without a doubt, one of my all-time favorites! I am a 40-something with no children, but when I heard the NPR on-air book club discussion of THE VIEW FROM SATURDAY, I had to rush to buy it. It is a joy to read! E. L. Konigsburg gets my vote for one of the best all-around YA authors. I still adore the first book I read by her - FROM THE MIXED-UP FILES OF MRS. BASIL E. FRANKENWEILER.

Kudos to this great talent!

Summary: OK book!
Review: This book is about four young children who's names are Julian, Noah, Nadine, and Ethan. Their teacher, Mrs. Olinski as well and Julian's father Mr. Singh, help and support them with their decisions. They practice working together as well as getting ready for a competition. Their goal is to win a championship tournament against other school students' knowlege. It also leaves you thinking about what's going to happen later in their lives.
