Summary: a great book and great style of writing
Review: This book was a mixture of different styles of writing. Each character goes on to explain their own, little, wierd stories and then eventually their all joined together into one story. It's a very cool story but at times can be a bit confusing.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This Book is the Best That I Have Ever Read!!!!!
Review: E.L. Konigsburg starts out kind of slow like she doesn't have very many ideas. But then she gets more ideas and it becomes so good that I can't put it down. The end is sort of like the beginning because she runs out of ideas. I write like that too. I like all of the characters but Nadia is my favorite. I'm a tiny bit like her because my parents are divorced and I don't get to see my Dad as much as I get to see my Mom. I know it must be hard for her because her Dad is so nervous and spends all of his child custody time on turtle walks with Margaret. That makes Nadia really mad and I can see why. It also is hard for her to move to New York because she is moving away from all her friends and when she is trying to be friends again she finds out that they weren't as good friends as she thought. I also felt sorry for Julian at the beginning because he was new and sort of weird and he didn't make any friends except for Ethan, but in the end I got to know him better and it seemed like he was a stronger person. I really like his English accent and the part where Mrs. Olinski is trying to find out who to pick for her team and she was thinking of Julian and she said "He was smart (or else his English accent made him seem so). And he was sophisticated (or else his English accent made him seem so)." I think that is funny.

Summary: This book is a little confusing, but interesting.
Review: This book starts out smack in the middle of something, so you may get very confused. Once you read the first story it gets interesting. This book has twists & turns EVERYWHERE! I liked how the friendship was forming the team together. I also liked when Maxwell and Epiphany fought it off. This book will keep you reading and it is very hard to put it down!

Summary: A Gem for Grades 3-6
Review: The View from Saturday is a great book for those looking for a story with views on competition, tolerance, and sensitivity. It's a classroom-lesson in itself. I strongly recommend this book for the classroom. It may be best "eaten-up" when read to, unless, of course, whomever is reading it is able to make up good voices and characters with their imagination. Lots of issues are brought up that should be introduced by the third-grade; acceptance/tolerance, handicappedness, prejudice, protecting our earth, family, tradition, and many others. I highly suggest this book for teachers and parents alike. I hope it becomes required in school. I was only looking for a Newbery for my book list, and was extremely lucky to have found this. Enjoy! ~M. Mei; 8th Grader

Summary: Very good book
Review: This was a very good book about the four characters, and their stories, and how they become friends, weddings, turtles, genuis dogs, and druged dog treats are in this book!

Summary: It was odd...
Review: This book was okay. I liked some parts, but it was a little confusing... I have read better books.

Summary: TERRIBLE!!!!!!
Review: This book had 4 separate stories, each one from a different perspective, but it completely lacked a focus. Also, the characters were snotty, cynical brats. I like a book which can get me attached to its characters, and believe me, THE VIEW FROM SATURDAY was not it. So if you want a good read, busy yoursself with a good Crichton or Jacques novel and not the sardonic account of four snobs. And, to the Newberry Committee, I hope your judgement is better in the future.

Summary: I liked how easy and flowing this book is to read.
Review: This book deserves the honor it recieved,
But I'm not sure that I totally understood it. I like this book because it was a little different than what I usually read, and I still enjoyed it.

Summary: This was a wonderful book and I couldn't put it down!
Review: I liked this book a lot. It was a smart, well written book by E.L. Konigsburg. It is about four sixth graders who are trying to win the Acedemic Bowl which is a competition that includes seventh and eighth graders too, so it's pretty ambitious of them to be trying to win this competition. I really liked this book because I was able to relate to the characters because I am in sixth grade too. I was not able to put this book down. The author gives a view of the team at a competition in the first chapter. Every other chapter she tells you about one of the team members. The chapters in between those are about the current day. I think the cover was smart too. At first, when I started reading this book, I wasn't sure why the author had picked the cover that was on the book. As I kept reading though, I figured it out. It was very clear, but yet it was very symbolic. I also found it interesting that E.L. Konigsburg had designed the cover herself. I thought that no one else could have imagined a better picture than the author herself. It is a great book with a surprising ending and I really loved it!

Summary: Delightful to read a story which says being smart is OK
Review: I selected this book at the library since it was the most recent Newbery Medal winner. Our 5th grade daughter read it and really enjoyed it. I read it also and thought it was delightful to read a book which affirms clever, intelligent children. I was extremely disappointed to see that the author and the editors missed the "wrong word" on page three. In speaking of Mrs. Olinski watching "with baited (and visible) breath" -- the correct word is BATED breath. How could this pass the editors AND the Newbery committee????
