Rating: Summary: Terrible, confusing, not recomended Review: This book is very confusing. I am more than half way through it and I still have trouble understanding it and I usually understand books very well. The only good parts are the parts about the Academic Bowl. It's really boring. I am only reading it because I have to. I wonder how this ever won any prize. I quote someone else on their review of "A seperate Peace" (these two differ greatly in subject, but this quote is the same). It's a pathetic waist of innocent trees!!! My final words: Don't read this unless it is required!!!
Rating: Summary: Four children from the same town but personalities from diff Review: This book is like no other that I have read. It was very confusing in the beginning but things came together for me after the first couple of chapters. My favorite part of the book was when Noah was describing his grandparents in Florida because it reminded me of my grandparents who live there. I got quite a laugh from it! The story tells about four children who are brought together by a handicapped teacher and grow from each other. It is an excellent book and I recommend it to anyone that wants to read a good book.
Rating: Summary: Confusing, jumped around, should have had a beginning map Review: Half way through the book I started figuring out what was what, and who was who. It jumped from chapter to chapter without any setup. It was a cute story, but if it would have laid out a nice story map in the very beginning with a list of characters it would have made more sense. This was a required book for class, if it had not been required I never would have finished it. I would have quit after the first chapter.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME JUST AWESOME!! Review: This book was the best ever written by Konigsburg, I believe. It was given to me by my grandmother, who is the best librarian alive, as a B-DAY gift & from the first day I got it, I couldn't put it down! If you ever buy it you will feel the same way! Trust me. The way she puts 4 different stories together to make one big story in the end is great!!
Rating: Summary: It was one of the greatest books written. Review: The book was the best I've read in years! I may be young but I know a good book when I see one. The way Konisburg mixed & matched stories was great. I have never seen an author write with such detail and feeling. She really knows how to express feeling in this book. Although I have yet to read any other books of hers, I hope she has some other Newberry Award winning books out there some where. I hope to be that great of an author one day!
Rating: Summary: Awsome!! Review: This is a great book. It teaches you to value friendship, and what friendship really means. It's great for kids around 6th grade, because you can really relate to it. While reading this story, you hope that one day, you can find someone that is so wrong for you...that they're the best friend you've ever had.
Rating: Summary: This is a Fantastic Story for Anyone who Enjoys A Good Read! Review: When I read the back of this book, it didn't capture the true plot. It made it seem like a bunch of little kids trying to win a spelling bee. Please do not be decieved. It takes different points of views and connects them in a splendiferous literary style, that will get you hooked. A while back, my mother was very sick and her eye sight was failing so I read it aloud to her. She loved it, as did I. When my voice started to waver, she gave me a glass of water, and urged me to continue. It was wonderful. Do not be pressed by the people who gave this book bad reviews. This Newbery Medal winner is a terrific summer read, or winter by-the-fire enjoyment. Do not deprive yourelf by not reading it.
Rating: Summary: This book was one of the best I have ever read! Review: This book was wonderful. The author made everything connect in one way or another, but at the same time it was totally different. She divided up the book so well, with stories telling how the team came to be,and how they won, and the stories about the kids. It also appealed to me because one kid was Jewish (I'm also Jewish),and another half-Jewish. Everything was completly correct about the Jewish wedding! She really did her homework. The book was excellent and I reccomend it to all readers of all ages.
Rating: Summary: I read little snippets of it. Review: Maybe I should have given this book a real chance, but so many different view points was distracting. I only read the parts relating to the Academic Bowl and didn't feel attached to the characters at all. My fault, but I couldn't get interested. All in all, "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" by the same author was a far superior book.
Rating: Summary: Don't recomend at all Review: This book jumps all over the place and it is very confusing. My teacher Mrs. Little was reading it last year and just stoped reading it thats how bad it was so dont get this book unles you whant to go to sleep
