Summary: A REALLY COOL BOOK
Review: this book is really good anyone who tells you ptherwise is wacko, generally i give all books by tamora pierce a 5 but i gave this a 4 because I didn't like it as much as the tortall novels. it's about tris's magic and a glassmakers powers gone wacko. a murderers on the loose and an unusual glassmaker is the only way for tris to find out who it is.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Shatterglass
Review: This book was very exciting. Unlike most of the other books in the Circle Opens, it does not tell what the bad guy is thinking or planning. This is the last book in the Circle Opens quartet. This time, it's Tris's turn to help teach a mage. Kethlun Warder used to be a glass maker, until he was struck by lightning and lost his gift for glass making. Keth soon learns he can stop the murders of residents of Khapik, by making glass globes in which you can see the murders as they take place. It's up to Tris to help Keth to not only master his magic, but stop a killer.

Summary: Finale book in the circle opens quartet
Review: This is a good book and the reason I didn't give it five stars is because Tris never was my favorite character. The plot is good though and the cultures that the author comes up with is really interesting.
Tris and her teacher, Niko, are visiting Tharios the capital of the city-state of Tharios. Tris goes exploring and discovers a glass maker who appears to be sucking all the surrounding magic in to his glass. Tris discovers that he has glass magic warped by lightning magic. And she is the only mage in residence with lightning magic. And if things couldn't get more complicated there is a serial killer lose in the city!

Summary: Disappointed
Review: Tris (followed closely by Briar) is my favorite of the four mages, and I was rather disappointed in Shatterglass. The mystery was obvious from the first murder. The book also reminded me in a lot of ways of Cold Fire and didn't seem as original as some of the other books.

Tris is always fun to read about and we get to see how she has matured and struggles to deal with her power. I liked seeing her nicer side. Niko was a good supporting character, and Tris' apprentice and the mage are unique, well-drawn main characters.

The book, I suppose, was simply just boring.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Tris--that's enough
Review: Tris is my favorite character so my opinion is totally bias. The style of writing is pleasant and good. There is suspense but at other times it drags. The author tries mystery is the theme of her book and I admire her courage because, frankly, I didn't like it. I wanted to see more of my favorite character. And when thoughts came onto the page I read with rapture.
Good job Mrs. Pierce!

Summary: Triss, Sandry, Briar, and Daja - but mostly Triss
Review: Triss, the weather mage, has left Winding Circle along with her mentor.
She finds a man with the magic gift with glass magic - combined with weather magic (if I remember correctly).
Triss becomes his teacher; in how to control and use (properly) his magic.
But there are other things that need taking care of.
Triss is hearing voices in the wind - like before, but these voices aren't as pleasant.
Woman are turning up dead in many places. The city doesn't care that these entertainers die - they only care about the pollution their bodies cause; especially the one who's body was found in a fountian.
It's got to stop.
And Triss and her charge seem adequate for the job.
