Summary: Mariel of Redwall is an exciting fun book.
Review: Anyone who likes animals should read this book. It's one of those books you just can't put down. It has everything; humor, adventure, etc. I LOVE this book!!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Addictive!!!
Review: Mariel of Redwall is one of the greatest books I have ever read. It's the first Redwall I bought and I've been hooked ever since. Mariel is my heroine. The Redwall series in general is the kind of series you can read over and over again. (I should know, I've read most of them about ten times!)

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Adventureous! Addicting!! AWESOME!!!!
Review: Great book with lots of suspense and edge of your seat action. Great characters and lots of action with hares(THE BEST!) and MICE AND HEDGEHOGS!!!! One of the best

Summary: One of those.....
Review: It was dissapointing in some cases but in other cases it was pretty good. The plot was well laid out but the characters weren't that good or realistic.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Greatly Done

Summary: It's GRRRRRREAT!, as Tony the Tiger would say
Review: Mariel, a mousemaid, is washed ashore a couple miles from Redwall Abbey after being throwin overboard by the evil searat king, Gabool the Wild. She sets out with some Redwallers to go back to Terramort (Gabool's island) and save her father Joseph the Bellmaker and kill Gabool the Wild. Not as good as some other Redwall books, but it still deserves five stars!

Summary: The worst of the Redwall series, pretty disappointing
Review: I have read almost all of the Redwall series, and I have loved most of them enough to read them several times, but Mariel of Redwall was severely lacking the usual beauty and magic of the previous books. The story was simply boring at times, and there is nothing that draws you to Mariel as a likeable character as Matthias, Mattimeo, or Martin did, in fact she is fairly close to just being plain annoying. I love Jacques' work and am only strongly criticizing this book because it does not nearly live up to his usual standards. Salamandastron is much better, so I suggest reading this book only to follow in the sequence, because it is not that good at all, and the death of the bad sea pirate character is rather disturbing especially for young children.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Totally Entertaining!
Review: Mariel of Redwall was one of the best books I've ever read! Brian Jacques mixes humor, action, and suspense together to create probably the most thrilling novel in the Redwall series yet! I enthuastically reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys a book in which you get enthralled and never want to put it down. If it were possible, I'd give it six stars!

Summary: Again he does it with style!
Review: A suberbly written addition to the incredible Redwall saga. This time, the lead role is played by the tough mousemaid, Mariel. It's an excellent female lead role and certainly she should go down in history with any of the great Redwall warriors. The book itself is exceptionally written, emplyoing Jaques' usual mix of humor and drama. The classic parts from the Redwall series are all here with a few minor variations to keep things fresh. The only thing this book suffers from is a slight case of tedium near the beginning, especially on the first time through. But such a tiny imperfection shouldn't prevent this gem from getting the credit it richly deserves.

Summary: having read the entire REDWALL series outloud......
Review: to my son, starting when he was 5 and ending with this book now that he is 7 1/2, i highly recommend them for any child who is a good listener. my son loves all these books, especially the crazy hares that eat their way through every story. mariel was not my favorite but still worth the read. it did not have as complex a plot or the 'excitement' as some of the others. partly, i may be growing immune to them, having read so many. and now i see there is a new one. sigh.....but a great Christmas gift nonthe less....
