Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Overall Review: This was one of my fave Redwall books, though the plot wasn't much different from that of the other books in the series, hence the rating. What was different was the fact that a female character was placed in the lead role, with an attitude similar to that of Martin the Warrior himself and complimented by the wayward style of her companion Dandin. Rough, tough, and unafraid, she is among my favorite characters Brian Jacques has created thus far. I see no reason for anyone to avoid reading this or call it poorly written solely based on the fact that the lead character is female. Complete with battles, friendship, and courage, it is a true Redwall tale. This book shows that even the smallest female mouse can have the heart of a warrior."Mariel of Redwall" is definitely worth the time and effort.
Rating: Summary: "Mariel of Redwall" Review: What I liked in the story is the cleverness and the ingenuity of the Flitchaye as they disguised themselves even though they're just weasels. I also liked the way the Redwallers used thier wit to breakdown the poem so they could continue thier journey. Graypatch's idea to leave Gabool the Wild, which would eventually break him down. That is why Gabool was afriad when he sent out his crew leaving him at his castle supesticious and afraid. The best part of the book was when Rawnblade, badger warrior of Salmandastron, sent out his troops. Knowing that a ship of searats was coming, and he wanted to fight them for revenge for killing 3 of his troop. As luck made that morning in the thick fog a ship, the Waveblade, the captain Orgeye, and his crew had run into the reef. As Rawnblade for the fog to rise he stood in the shallows armed and watching for a sign of the ship. One story element that was very good in the book was the way Brian Jacques described the setting, here is a good example of that writing. "From the view point of the threshold of Redwall Abbey's west ramparts he watched the hot midsummer day drawing to a glorious close. Evening light mellowed the red sandstone Abbey walls, turning them dusty scarlet; across the flatlands, cloud layers striped the horizon in long billows of purple, amber, rose, and cerise..." Another story element greatly portrayed by Brian's writing in his characters. Like the way he described Mariel as a beautiful mousemaid with a good build.
Rating: Summary: An wonderful book Review: This is one of those rare books. Good main plot, good subplots, every thing you would need. This is the story of Mariel, a mouse maid who sets out to kill Gabool the wild. This book takes place before Redwall and Mattimeo(both really good books) and after Mossflower(also a good book).

Rating: Summary: Each writer has to have a worst book Review: Every writer must have a worst book, and this is definetly Brians worst. Now, dont get me wrong, this book is excellent vacantion, rainy day, or even family reading material. But if you are new to the Redwall series, and youve heard all the praise, and you pick up Mariel Of Redwaall at youre library because its the only one there, and read it, you are very likely to be discouraged and not want to give the rest a try, if you are new to the series, i reccommend that you read Richard Adams Waership Down before reading this.
Rating: Summary: A magnificent book Review: Mariel of Redwall is one of the best of the 14 Redwall books created by Brian Jaques (though of course all of his books are wonderful). it has a great story filled with excitement, thoughtful riddles, and even a bit of love. The book has vivid descriptions of all the exciting events, characters, and places, and is a great addition to the Redwall series. So i give this book a 5 star rating.
Rating: Summary: Outcast Of Redwall Review: I think this book is awesome! The description is great and you can imagine what is going on thorughout the whole book. I like the characters and you distinguish the bad from the good very well making the bad very bad and the nice very nice. Keep writing!
Rating: Summary: AWSOME!!... Review: In the beginning, a hopeless mouse was thrown into the sea to drown. The mouse's name was Mariel, but after she hit land where Redwall stood her memory went blank. She was tied to a rope and used the rope to defend herself against a bird that attacked her. She named herself Storm Gullwacker since she came from a storm and she whacked a gull with the rope she was bound to. Eventually she made it to Redwall with some help and found her true identity, Mariel. She was determined to find and kill the one who ruined her life and to find her father, the bell maker. What she was up against was the king of sea rats, Gabool the Wild. Her friends, a mouse, a squirrel, a hedgehog and a mole, who are determined to help her on this quest, would be there when needed. Mariel is a maiden with the heart of a warrior, and her friends also develope that warrior character and became warriors. Another book by Brian Jacques is The Bellmaker, the story of the father of Mariel and the whole series of Redwall books. The mood of the book is angry and in other parts the mood is peaceful. In the beginning of the book, the setting is an ocean, later on it's a forest setting, mostly the whole book either has and ocean setting or a forest setting. The genre of the book is action and adventure, and some mystery. I personally liked this book because it keeps you wondering what's going to happen next and it has a lot of battles and rivalry. I think the kind of person that would like this book is one who likes to read about medieval times and a person that likes mystery and battles all in one. The age rating I would think is 10 and up.
Rating: Summary: Redwall-A Masterpeice Of A Series Review: A wonderful book-truly one of the of the best in the Redwall series and written by the most magnificent author of all time! An exciting tale amazingly told with an adventurous plot and plenty of action to satisfy even the most hungering soul. Brian Jacques uses his amazing talent to turn such animals as mice, moles, hares, rats, shrews, otters, weasels, and many other small creatures into brave warriors, cunning assasins, bloodthirsty pirates, and evil warlords. This is a five-star book filled with adventure and lovable and sometimes not so lovable characters. This definately earns a place on any fantasy-lover`s bookshelf and remains, even after many years of reading, top of my booklist!
Rating: Summary: Mariel of Redwall Review: As Mariel and her father, Joseph the Bellmaker, sail the ocean to deliver one of Joseph's bells to Rawnblade, the Badger Lord of Salamandastron, danger and tragedy befalls them and the ship's crew. Mariel and her father are captured by the villainous Gabool the Wild, the lord of the Corsairs, and taken to his island fortress of Terramort, along with Joseph's bell. Mariel is made Gabool's servant, but almost succeeds in killing him. Bound hand and foot, she is tossed into the raging ocean during a hurricane. Against all odds, she survives. This is the beginning of the journey of Mariel of Redwall. Stranded in a desert, dying of thirst, she is rescued by three courageous hares from Salamandastron's Long Patrol and makes her way to Redwall. She is joined by Dandin, a courageous mouse, Tarquin, a lovesick hare, and Durry Quill, a small hedgehog, on her quest to rescue her father from Gabool. The story of fierce, resilient Mariel, who goes to rescue her father armed only with a knotted rope, is one of the best volumes of the Redwall series.
