Rating: Summary: My personal favorite! Review: Jacques creates a wonderfully colorful impression of the Redwallers and their foes in this book. His idea of the main charakter almost dying (finally) is a relief to me. I love the way he describes the animals and their homes. The fights are the Best I have read of yet!!
Rating: Summary: GOOOO Rosie! Review: I loved this book, MAriel was cool with her gullwhaker, and it was a great story, but my favorate charicter was Rosie! Why does no one mention her? She was by far my favorite charicter! She was a hare and boy was she funny! I loved her, she made the book for me. I cried when I thought she was dead! Thank you Brian Jaques for bringing her in and keeping her alive!
Rating: Summary: Jacques does it again! (and again, and again, and again) Review: The fourth book in the Redwall series delivers another powerful and moving tale from the master of animal fantasy, Brian Jacques. A sequel to Mossflower, Mariel takes place a few generations after the Outcast of Redwall. In this installment, The main character is Mariel. Mariel is a warrior maid. She can fight like a badger lord (Who appeares later in the book.) She lives to kill Gabool, lord of the searats. (Ublaz without the hypnotism.) There's just one problem, she can't remember who she is. With the help of the Long Patrol, Mariel finds her way to Redwall, where she quickly recovers her memory, and sets out to deal justice to the vile searat Gabool. Joining her on her quest is Dandin, a descendant of GONFF the mousethief, Tarquin L Woodsorrel a Salamandastron hare, and Durry Quill nephew of the Redwall Cellerkeeper. Together with a cast of hundreds, Mariel packs a lot of excitement into what otherwise would be a remake of Mossflower with different characters and destination. Mariel is also Jacques most well-written work, and the basis for Martin the Warrior, (a story told to Abbot Saxtus and several other mariel veterans) and the sequel, The Bellmaker. After reading it over twenty times, I must say that this book, and every other book in this series is a tribute to it's creator, Brian Jacques.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Reawall books! Review: I like how Storm Gullwhacker(Mariel) finds Redwall, gets back her memory, and meets some friends along the way!
Rating: Summary: Mariel is a true Warrior! Review: This is the first Redwall book where the main character isn't the wielder of Martin's sword. The warriormaid Mariel's weapon of choice is a knotted piece of rope named 'Gullwhacker'. (Suprisingly, this is a very effective weapon.) She's stubborn, smart, brave, and out for revenge! Along with a small band of friends from Redwall Abbey, she is searching for Gabool the Wild. He's responsible for trying to murder her during a storm at sea. Mariel has sworn to kill the evil rat, but he is the King of the Searats with hordes of bloodthirsty killers at his command. The odds are not in the Woodlander's favor, but Mariel is a Warrior. One way or another, Gabool's days are numbered! If you have the slightest interest in Redwall, this is one of the first ones you should read. It's descriptives are so real, you can almost taste the food, and you can nearly hear the ring of blade against blade during the battles.
Rating: Summary: The best Redwall book in the series! Review: I thought that this book was the best because I like the mouse, Mariel, when she's Storm Gullwacker. She's really tough and doesn't like to get pushed around. She is washed up on shore with her gullwacker with no memory and goes to Redwall after she is informed of it by some long patrol hares. At Redwall she gets back her memory and leaves to kill Gabool, the rat that has her father. She doesn't know it but she has companions; Dandin; the desendant of Gnoff the Prince of mouse thieves, Tarrquin L. Woodsorrel, and Durry the hedgehog. Together they must get to Terramort and kill Gabool. Rawnblade has had Joseph the Bellmaker make him a bell but they don't arrive and he desides to muder a whole crew of rats and go to Terramort. Every one wants to kill Gabool the Wild and they don't get a chance. The Scorpion does. At the end of the book Mariel and Dandin go traveling. The best book that I've ever read in my 15 years of living!
Rating: Summary: A shadow... Review: I was very disapointed with this book. This book is a shadow of Mossflower, and Mattimeo. Well, remember the Badger and the Bell in Mattimeo? Here is almost the same thing:The Otter and his Wife! Then in Mossflower they have lotta probs with toads... Mariel dose too. In Mossflower they have a little rhyme map, same in Mariel. I found more little things, so shoot me! I'm just too durn lazy to type 'em. This book dose make up for it at the end. It's really neat how they become oar slaves and how Mariel dose not, and their little plan on how to get rid of Gabool. I just wish I knew Joseph's response when Dandin said that he knows, not knew, Mariel and that she is not dead. If you are going to read The Bellmaker you should read this too so that you have some background info and don't get a headache.
P.S. The little sword and spirt thing of Martin, this is not too go of an ex, he overdose it at one moment and under dose it the next.
P.P.S. The riddle is very disapointing.
Rating: Summary: The book was great.I love it. Review: Mariel of Redwall is a great book about a maiden who's forgotten everything about herself. Almost every one of my best friends has read it and all the Redwall books.
Rating: Summary: Setting things straight! Review: This actually isn't a review, it's more of a complaint! Kirkus reviews has it all wrong!!!!!! Number one, Dandin is the decendant of Gonff the mousethief, not Martin the warrior! Number two, neither Mariel or her friends kill Gabool! A scorpion does. Number three, Mariel and Dandin do NOT get married, they simply stay good friends for the whole book, and The Bellmaker too. I hope this has cleared up a few things.
