Rating: Summary: interesting Review: it was the greatest book that I have ever read. It kept me interested in it the whole way through. It tells about a 15 year old girl who loves ballet and tries to be skinnier than all of the other girls in her class until it goes too far. She starts a competition with herself to make herself skinnier that the models in her magazine. when it goes overboard she ends up havong to go to the hospital, the rest you will have to find out yourself.
Rating: Summary: This book is absolutely excellent Review: I have many annorexic friends and I wish that I had the courage to send them this book - it is absolutely brilliant. So informative and educational aswell as emotional and well written. It took me about 2 days to read it and I couldn't put it down. I think that it should be taught in schools - particularly middle class ones, where these girls seem to form this illness.
Rating: Summary: Intense pain and only 1,000 words to describe it Review: Reading this made me wish that the information we gain from books was more tangible, like food. If it were I would have rushed immeadiatly to the bathroom to vomit up all of the information it put in my head. That is space in my brain that is going to be occupied by the information in that, that, book (if you want to grace it with that title) that I can never get back.If this is where literature is going, then count me out. Don't get me wrong, reading is my main hobby, but this was painful to read. It was written at a level for people who have trouble with the back of the cereal box. On the upside, I can imagine no more successful torture methods for political prisoners than providing them with that *thing* as their only source of entertainment. However, they could lose a lot of prisoners that way, because while you're reading it suicide looks awfully friendly.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK Review: OK, THIS WAS A GREAT BOOK ABOUT A GIRL FACED WITH ANOREXIA. I HOPE PEOPLE REALIZE FROM THIS THAT ANOREXIA ISNT A JOKE, IT IS A TRUE PROBLEM. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I MYSELF HAVE ONE. IT IS A TORTURE THAT NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO FACE, AND I WANT EVERYONE READING THIS TO KNOW THIS AND REALIZE THIS. EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS
Rating: Summary: The Best Little Girl in the World, by Steven Levenkron Review: This was a wonderful book, quite possibly one of my favorites. It is about Francesca (Kessa) Dietrich, who, because of the influence of her ballet instructor and pencil-thin models, goes on a diet even though she is already very thin (5'4" and 98 pounds). Her disorder, anorexia nervosa, her hospital stay, and everything else, is well documented. It made me think twice about dieting like that again.
Rating: Summary: wow Review: This book took me on an emotional ride. There was always "why?", but I also remember a feeling of hatred toward her parents at times, saddness, confusion, relief, and even a little happiness. My friend & I read this almost simultaneously and spent a lot of time discussing it. I would reccomend (& have reccomended) this book to nearly everyone about 12 yrs. or older. I would also like to say that when I "come of age" I would like to spend my life helping people with this disorder.
Rating: Summary: The best book you will ever read!!! Review: This is a great book. It is realistic and I guarantee you will love reading this book. It's the best book i've read in a long time. Very interesting and realistic look at anorexia, and impressively written. READ THIS BOOK!!
Rating: Summary: A book you can't put down! Read it! Review: IT took me about two days to read this book where a normal book it would take me about a week. I can still not imagine that a girl can do this to herself. I feel that some people might use it as an act to get attention, like saying "I'm fat" or something like that, but I just can not imagine someone really doing it. I feel that Kessa had so much bravery to do all the things she did throughout the book. I feel that any person that could do that to themselves needs some major help. And after reading this book you would really think twice before you would ever call someone fat again, causing them to turn out like this.
Rating: Summary: This particular book was intoxicating Review: Steven Levenkron was a geat writer who captured my interest. I thought this book had its ups and downs even though it was unbelieveable. The author way of writing was very unique in a desriptive , yet sad way. They way he expressed The main characters point of view was fabulas. The only part i diddn't like was towards the end, but otherwise, it was exceptional! It was sad the way that the story ended up in the end. I would recomend to everyone; even though the book was sort of long. There were a few of difficut words in the story.
Rating: Summary: Tells the true story of an anorexic Review: I highly recommend this book to family members of people struggling with anorexia or bulimia. It goes into the mind of the character and gives a true insight to her mind.
