Summary: This was a really great book!
Review: I was really impressed with this book, because it teaches about the dangers of anorexia nervosa without being boring or using medical terms that normal people don't understand. I really think that more people (especially girls) should read this book and learn more about eating disorders.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Francesca is dying to be Kessa - literally
Review: A moving and enthralling story about Francesca Deitrich, a teenager with anorexia nervosa.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Kessa is dying to be thin....literally
Review: This is my all time favorite book. I have read it at least 12 times, and it has never gotten old. I also recommend the sequel, Kessa.

Summary: A moving (literally & physically) novel that opens your eyes
Review: Young girl, Francesca, is told to loose some weight for her ballet dancing from her dance teacher. She takes it too seriously and gets carried away with her weight loss. She becomes an anorexic. She receives help, however she will not put effort into her help. Her new personality, Kessa, will not allow her to think or do anything else but to loose weight. She quits dance and continues to loose weight. She becomes 5'4" at 72 pounds. Read and learn how the moving piece concludes.

Summary: This was like reading about my life
Review: This book was a mirror image to how I felt. It made me cry and realize that I needed help, and I would get better. I recommended this book to a friend and she loved it. I couldn't put it down.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Frighteningly accurate
Review: I read this book at the beginning of my own eating disorder, and I wish I could say it was all a lie. It was painful to read because I, like Kessa, am 5'4" tall, but at the time I weighed nearly 30 more pounds than when she began. It's been a while since I read it and its sequel (Kessa), but the impact is permenent. One person said that it was written for people who have trouble reading. I've been reading novels since first grade, and while the literary part was simple, the emotional part was like a bullet. This book was my giudebook, almost my Bible, for a long time in my life. I tried to mirror myself off of Kessa. I wish Kessa was real so that I could go find her and say, "I know you. You're me." Maybe we could help each other. It's the most powerful book I've ever read, except possibly its sequel. But don't read it unless you know you can handle it.

Summary: A sad and dark but informative book
Review: This book shows the story of Francesca Dietrich, who develops a very bad case of anorexia nervosa. The book shows the helplessness of Francesca, or "Kessa", as she renames herself. The thing I liked about this book was that it showed the daily life of Kessa, without being too medical - you know, the "Anorexia Nervosa is a very difficult disease to overcome, blah, blah, blah". It shows the picture of a worried mother and an overbearing, bossy, bullying, unsupportive father. You should read this book, because although it is a darkly written book, you can learn more about this disease in the most entertaining way I can see.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Realistic portrayal of acute anorexia
Review: I've had anorexia and bulimia for 6 years and have seen just about everything involving these 2 destructive diseases. This is a must read for anyone involved with someone who was diagnosed with anorexia or may suspect anorexia because you start to understand the mind set of anorexia. Steven Levenkron THANK YOU for this book please write more eating disorder fiction books! Be careful anyone who thinks that anorexia is a dream of theirs because you could become triggered!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great insight
Review: This novel provides a wonderful insight into both sides of the eating disorder treatment process. Unlike many other books in this genre, the reader is not only able to understand what Kessa, the main character, is going through, but also what her doctor is dealing with. An excellent book for those interested in eating disorders from a more medical point of view but who still want to retain the more interesting and readable nature of a fictional story.
