Summary: Historical Fiction At It's Best!
Review: "My Brother Sam is Dead" is an excelent novel that should be read by anyone! This story takes readers through the revolutionary war through a young boy's eyes. The authors mix real figures in American History and fictional characters in wonderful contrast! The novel is the story of a boy living through the revolutionary war and interacting with people such as General Putnam, Colonel Read, William Heron, and little Jerry Sanford. The characters live in the real town of Redding, Connecticut. It is described exactly as the real town appears. Most of the events such as the Patriots going through Redding and collecting the Torys' guns are real. Read the book! It's a history lesson and an exciting experience in one

Summary: Death in it`s purest form...
Review: This book excited me, thrilled me and saddended me. The way the author cleverly orchestrates this novel just took my breath away. Death being our final bow, can change lives in a unlimited multitude of ways. The two sides clashing together in endless fury while this child watches on the side, witnessing the barbaric means necessary to complete a revolution. The ending was no stroll in the park either, the climatic finish of the life of a young and innocent boy just stabs you in the heart not once, but several times. You felt as if it didn`t have to happen, yet it did. The endless suffering of the child when he sees someone decapitated sends tears down your cheeks. Violence is a major part of this nations history and this book delivers it in spades.

Summary: My Brother Sam Is Dead
Review: My Brother Sam is Dead by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier is a five star book. This book was a page turner. The book was thrilling and exciting.
It's 1777 and the Revolutionary war is taking place. In a Tory town called Redding there is a family made of a father, a mother, and two sons Sam, and Tim. When Sam leaves his home to fight in the war as a Patriot Tim finds himsef in a daze. He can't decide which side he's on. He could be like his father and be a loyalist. He could be like Sam and be a Patriot. Also, there's his mother, who didn't pick a side. Will Tim's family reunite or will they lose dear friends.
I love how you felt mad, sad, and happy at the same time. At times I found myself talking, shouting, and even crying for the characters. I know they weren't real, but they had real feelings.
When I read this book I knew Tim and his family had some hardships and I could ever be that brave. Tim tried to help his family even if it meant death.

Summary: My Brother Sam is Dead
Review: The book ends very sad. The middle part of the book is super suspense. In the beggining of the book is very complicated. I would really suggest you to read it. Very very very easy to understand kind of book.

Summary: GREAT BOOK!
Review: My 10 year old son read this book for school - and the rest of the family ended up reading it, too! We all learned a little more about the American Revolution and the "normal" day-to-day life of those not directly fighting in the war. There is some violence and rough language, but it is not overdone or overwhelming, and seems quite appropriate for the setting. We all really enjoyed this book!

One more note - if you happen to live in Connecticut, you can visit the Putnam Memorial State Park in Redding, which is on the site of the 1779 encampment. After you visit the museum and walk around the park, travel down Route 58 to the churchyard on the corner of Cross Highway. We found gravesites of members of the Meeker family, and Captain Betts, who lived to a ripe old age after the Revolutionary War.
