Summary: An accurate portrayal of other side of the Revolutionary War
Review: This book tells the story of young Tim Meeker, whose brother Sam is fighting for the Rebels in the Revolutionary War. This doesn't so much focus on the fighting end of the war as it does on Tim's family life. His father gets put in a British prison ship and he and his mother are left to manage their tavern while Sam is fighting in the war. This book deals with family losses and how the war was like for the people in Redding, Connecticut in the late 1770s-early 1780s.

Summary: Alright book........
Review: It started off boring and towards the third chapter it started to get better. I thought it couldve been better in the beginnig. It was kind of gorry towards the end, but I guess it needed the vivid details so that the reader would know what was going on. I guess it was all around alright book.

Summary: My Brother Sam is Dead
Review: I thought the book was a good way to express how life during the revolutionary war was. It took no time for me to get interested in the story. The book does drag on in a few places, but in all other areas are really great. If you like to read about lifeing in a war you should pick up this book.

Summary: book report
Review: I read the book My Brother Sam is dead for a school project. It only took me seven nights to complete this book I'm in 8th grade and I'm not a very fast reader. This book starts out when Sam comes home from Yahle and tells his family that he is going to fight in the war against his country( he wants to be free from England). Sam and Tim's dad was in a war and does not want his son to fight because he knows how hard a soldgers life can be. Sam and his dad get in a fight and Life (dad) kicks sam out sam went to live with tom he snuck back into the house one night to get the Brown Bess (gun) a couple of days later tim found out that Sam stole the gun adn tried to get it back but sam wouldn't let him. Well if you want to find out what happens, you will have to read this excellent book.

Summary: A Good Young Adult Book
Review: I think this has been a very good book. Even for people who don't like the Revolutionary War thought this was a good book. It's about Sam Meeker and the way he has the courage to fight in the war. His brother, Tim, doesn't like Sam being in the war. Their family just falls apart. Well, I wont tell you the ending, but you can find it out by reading the book.

Summary: Sorrowful and yet heart warming what could be better
Review: War never really was an interesting subject to me. Neither was trying to read a book about war, but this book captivated me and drew further and further into the book and you forget that you're actually learning. The characters were realistic and you felt like you were standing right next to them as they made decisions and go through heart-break. The reason I couldn't give it the extra star is the fact that the title gave away part of the books appeal at the end. Otherwise it had a creative plot. When Tim's brother goes off to war despite his fathers wishes and you see Tim's admiration for his older brother you wanna cheer everytime he gets word that his brother is doing ok and has survived. The Meeker family is thrown into a world of turmoil that seems to have no end but Tim's courage and strength keeps the family together. I loved the authors use of words and style of writing. It makes you feel like your back in the 1700's in Massachuessts, ready to fight the lobsterbacks for the freedom of America. The book never really turned boring. Right from the beginning there is tension and the tension is never really resolved till the last chapter when all the storylines are pulled together and made into a conclusion that touches your heart. The lose of two family members really causes emotional havoc on the remaining Meekers and their struggle and survival to make it through one of Americas most cruelist and harsh times is amazing. I liked the way the author tied in a real heart warming story to an educational peice of material, and didn't make you lose interest at the same time. I highly recommend reading this book because not only do you learn a little about America's fight for freedom but you get to enjoy a heart touching story as well.

Summary: This was a good book.
Review: This was a good book, even though the title gave away what happened to Sam. This book had a good beginning and ending, but the plot was boring. This is a very descriptive book.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: This is a Revolutionary War story
Review: I gave it a four stars because I liked the funny parts, like when they fight over the letter. It had a bunch of sad parts that I didn't like that well, but the funny parts make up for it. It was a very good Revolutionary War story. I would recommend it to anybody that is in the fifth grade or above. One thing that I didn't like that much was it has a bunch of bad word, so if you think you want to read this book go ahead and read it. It is a great book.
