Summary: My Brother Sam is Dead
Review: This book is fine if you want historical fiction, brother fighting brother and all that. But if you want a reading book with half of a plot Brother Sam is not for you! Oh, sure say what you must but I tell you out of pitty that if you don't want to be bored out of your skull for 200-some pages DON'T READ MY BROTHER SAM IS DEAD. But hey, don't listen to me, your loss.

Summary: Good, historical book
Review: Sam Meeker joined the Continental Army in the American Revolution, while his father was loyal to King George. Tim, Sam's younger brother, always admired his brother. When Sam was accused for stealing cattle (which he didn't do), he was shot twice. This was a sad and exciting book that tells many facts of history. Although half of this book is fiction, most of the facts really happened. Like what was about Mr. Heron? He seemed to be a spy for both armies...

Summary: An amazing book!
Review: This book is not like any others. It is very interesting and the authors really write good books. I have also read "The Bloody Country" and am starting "The Winter Hero." The books are so suspensful and anyone who is doing it for school will learn not only about life back then but about what the war was about.

Summary: I only read it in order to pass the class
Review: I had to read this book for school and wish I hadn't.It was O.K. I'm not going to say it was horrible, but I would never recommend it to anyone, except maybe if your into wars and stuff.I didn't dread having to read it (once I started) but it's not one of those books you can't put down. It does however show a realistic bond between a father and his son, more so, two brothers.

Summary: It was so disgusting!
Review: I had to read this book for a book report, and I can't believe anyone would like it! It talked about guts, blood, dead people, and someone's head flying in the air! Plus, it was extreeeemely BORING! I hate how he talks about the dead cow , and How they threw Jerry Sanford into a sack. I mean, come on!I would have given it no stars, but I can't. I was in utter ecstasy when I finished it!

Summary: My Brother Sam is dead
Review: The Meekers are a familly that live in Redding and are in the middle of the american revolution. The oldest son is at the rebels side and leaves home. I think this book is great. It describes how can a war affect a family.

Summary: GREAT HISTORICAL FICTION FOR YOUNG ADULTS
Review: This is my favorite among the Collier brothers' books. This has been a successful book for me to hand to many (usually boys) reluctant readers. Young readers can relate to Tim Meeker's conscience telling him to do "what's right" and his desire to be like his big brother Sam. Conflict over the Revolutionary War(which is just beginning at the start of the book) brings emotional confrontations to the Meeker household. Most readers can sympathize with Tim as he watches his family torn apart by the question of loyalty to the King or to the colonists. Tim just wants to be loyal to his family, and he wishes Sam would too. This novel is an easy read and is an enthralling read with its taps into the violence of this war. Readers are so involved by the end of the novel that they want to pick up another of the Collier brothers' historical fiction. And as the authors say, if they said there was two-feet of snow in January of 1778, then it really happened. This is realistic historical fiction throughout. One of the authors does the research & the other does the creative writing to complete this package. This is a great literary addition to any history class. If you like this one, I suggest also reading Bloody Country & The Winter Hero, both by the same authors.

Summary: It was alright
Review: WELL I REALLY DIDN'T WANT TO READ BUT IT WAS FOR SCHOOL SO I HAD TO. THE FIRST THREE CHAP. WAS REALLY BORING. ONCE U GOT IN TO THE BOOK IT GOT BETTER. THE BAD THING ABOUT THE BOOK WAS THAT IT BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES JUST THINKING IF I WAS IN TIMS STOP. I WOULD NEVER BEABLE TO CHOOSE TO BE ON MY DAD SIDE OR MY BROTHERS SIDE. THE BOOK WAS REALLY GORY AT THE END.SO I SAY IT'S OKAY

Summary: A Gotta Check it Out! Book
Review: This is an excellent book telling about the hard life of the Meeker family during the Revolutionary War. A classic revolutionary war story tied in with a heartwarming storyline. I like the way the characters think as this makes them much more realistic than other books I've read. This is the first book other than fantasy I've ever read. It tells about Tim's brother, Sam who is very enthusiastic about fighting with the rebels against England. Tim's dad refuses to let Sam go and a fight ensues. Running away and returning only to steal a gun from their house, Sam causes a lot of havoc in the household. Tim's dad finally gets carried away in a British prison ship, leaving only Tim and his mom to manage ther tavern. This book also deals with the heart breaking pain of a family loss. It doesn't get really gory until the last few chapters. Definitely a 5 star book !
