Summary: Excellent Historical Fiction
Review: My Brother Sam is Dead is an excellent historical fiction about the Revolutionary War. It takes place in a town called Redding, Connecticut. The central characters are Sam Meeker, Tim Meeker, and Mr. and Mrs. Meeker. Sam and his father are conflicted with their views over the war, Sam believes that freedom from the King would be the best for Americans and he has chosen to drop out of college to fight as a patriot in the Continental Army. His father on the other hand believes that things are fine the way they are and continues to be a loyalist and supports the King. Where does all this leave Tim, confused about whether he should be a loyalist or a patriot? Tim does experience many life changing events that force him to grow up and take on more responsibilities at home, all this growing up has caused him to look at war differently. As for Sam, the title suggests that he is dead, but did he die fighting for his country in an act of bravery, or was it all in vain so that General Putnam could prove a point to his troops? This book does an excellent job holding your interest, you find yourself wanting to read on to see what happens to the Meeker family next. I consider this a must read for anyone studying the Revolutionary War, it paints a different picture than we are accustomed to in our Social Studies textbooks.

Review: This book was great! I love history, esp. the Revolutionary War, so "My Brother Sam Is Dead" fit well. The book really took me with it through the story. It did a good job of explaining the everyday life of the Americans, to the everyday life of the soldiers(american and british). I strongly recommend this book!

Review: When I first looked at the book, I thought it looked stupid. After I started reading it, it turned out to be really good. I really thought that the title was bad, but the rest of the book was good. I recommend this to anyone that would like to get a better view of the Revolutionary War.

Summary: Very good read
Review: I first picked up the book four years ago when i was in seventh grade, I didn't get past the first chapter. I read the entire last week and I must say, if i had only known what i almost missed out on. Most of the book is true and the characters come alive. I found Tim (the narrator) very annoying at first but towards the end I admired him. Don't be fooled, just because it is a history book doesn't mean it's going to be dull. Read!

Summary: My Brother Sam is Dead
Review: Wow! If you want to read an exiting book on the Revolutionary War I highly recommend My Brother Sam is Dead. It is about a boy named Tim who is living during the begining of the Revoultionary War. Tim is caught between his brother, who is a Patriot and his father, who is a loyalist. One of the conflicts in the story was when Sam wants to go and fight in the war, but his father is a loyalist, and that causes a whole lot of problems between Sam and his father. There are some parts in the book that make you want to just jump into the book and help them out especially when they are on their way back from Verplanks Point in the miserable snow. This was probably one of the best books I have ever read on the Revoultionary War.
