Summary: "My Brother Sam Is Dead"
Review: "My Brother Sam Is Dead," kept me on the edge of my seat. I wanted to keep reading and found it hard to put down. The characters' personalities were well defined and elaborated. The realness of the characters allowed me to relate to the book, its expressed emotions, and understand the difficulties a family might go through during a time of war. There is enough suspense to make youmwant to keep reading. At the same time there is enough surprise to make you wonder what will come next. I would recommend this book to all my friends as good reading material.

Review: The book was good except for the ending when Sam died. I don't think he should have died because he was found guilty for stealing his own cattle. I think he probably could have died like in a battle or something, or not died at all. I think it ruined the whole book.

Review: This book is a pretty good book. One thing that I did not like is that Sam dies. Did he have to die. That is not right to ececute someone for stelling his own cows. The rest of it was good. It is a great war book. It is perfect for our age.

Review: When my English teacher assigned us to read this book, I thought it was going to be really boring and not have a point at all. After reading the book, I realized I was wrong and actually liked the book. The characters were well described and the story had a point to it. I thought it was going to be some boring history book about a war or battle and talk about fighting. It didn't. It was a history book, but it was interesting and not boring at all.

Summary: A touching book showing all sides of the story
Review: This book gives a great scenario of life in the Revolutionary War for the common people. It shows that not everyone picks sides and shows the tension it put upon people. As I read the war came alive. My Brother Sam is Dead gives a wonderful example of the cruelties of war and its effect on people turning them into vicious creatures. I thoroughly enjoyed this book; it was very touching.

Summary: The Meekers : A Family Torn Apart by War
Review: The book was good, but it wasn't that exciting as compared to other books I have read. The story line was pretty good because the main character, Tim Meeker's brother Sam, joins the army, and this act tears Tim and his family apart.I've studied the Revolutionary War in school and the book was pretty factual, so I recommend this book.

Summary: Better Than a History Textbook
Review: This is a book that is pretty good but could used a little more combat action. I didn't think Sam was going to die in the way that he did. I liked learning about the way everything happened during a normal day in the war, like no food and sleep.
Overall it was not the best book I have read, but it wasn't all bad.
