Rating: Summary: a very well written book Review: I love Daniel's Story. It's very true and heartbreaking. i haveread other books by Carol Matas about the same subject and they arevery good.
Rating: Summary: Everybody in the worls should read this book Review: I am Jewish, and when I read this book, I found out the realistic happening of what could have been me in the Holocaust if my ancestors had not moved to America before this all started. Books like "The Devils Arithmatic" are very well written books but do not give the 411 on what really happned. For example, "The Devil's Arithmatic" skiped parts about Jews ging into a ghetto and they made the Jews not know who the Nazis were in 1942. By that date, everyone that was Jewish knew what was going on and would have probably been sent to a ghetto long before. This book, however, gives the true happening of the Holocaust, and shows what people lost that were so dear to them. I was almost in tears when I finished this book. My teacher at my middle school had a historical book report project she assigned. She reccomended "Daniel's Story" as her favorite book. My friend who sits next to me, is Hindu and read the book when she knew nothing about the Holocaust. She loved it and couldn't put it down. In conclusion, this book is one of my favorites and it was a great learning experience- even though I knew much about the Holocaust already. Please read it!
Rating: Summary: I recomend that everyone read this book. Review: I have read this book and I feel that it is a very good book that all people who are interested in reading about the Holocaust should read. It tells about his hard times of living in a ghetto and of living in Auschwitz. It also describes how brave he was and how hard he tried to keep his family together. I think that this book is a good book for reading in school if you are learning about the Holocaust. That is how I found out about this book, it was read to us in our reading class. If I could I read read this book over and over again. I think it is one of the best books I have read on the Holocaust
Rating: Summary: Touching but not detailed. Review: THe book was very touching but it was not complete. I finished it and thought were is the rest of the book. It wasn't very thouroughly done. If you want very good reading try something else. If you're looking for factual reading and short story reading this is just the book for you. This book is also a good class room book. So if you area teacher and want a book about a Jew who was tortured by the Germans during World War 2 this would be a good book for you. All in all this book should get a 4 star rating!
Rating: Summary: Daniels Story is a good book and a very sad true story. Review: Daniels Story was sad and there were many brave heros. I hope we never have to go through a terrible time of war like that again. We all should learn from Daniels Story how to keep it from ever happening again.
Rating: Summary: Daniel trying to escape the Holocaust Review: I liked this book because the writer made me feel I was in the book. The writer got a message to me that Daniel was determend but also sad because most of his family died.I read this book before we started to read aloud and I couldn't put it down.I think the writer did a very good job.But my favorite part was when Daniel saw Rosa.
Rating: Summary: Daniel wants to live to tell Review: The book Daniel's Story was about a boy named Daniel and how he and his family survived the tragic horror of the Holocaust. Daniel's goal is to do whatever he can to stay alive so he can live to tell people about the Holocaust. This book is great because it is filled with suspense and lets people learn about the Holocaust.
Rating: Summary: Everybody should read this book! Review: I like this book. I think everybody in the whole world should read this book. I was glad I read the book because it tells me how mean peole can be and that it is easy to blame things on people and they did not do anything. It's how people live through it all and how they suffered through all those bad things that happened to them. It tells people that read it; it is about history.
Rating: Summary: It told me about the holocaust Review: This story told me about the holocaust. I didn't even know what the holocaust was until I read this. It was a very sad book about Daniel trying to stay alive and him having a girlfriend and finding her at the end when he lost her. This helped me and I hope it helps you.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: I read Daniel's Story in Language Arts when I was in 5th grade and was expecting another boring book but boy was I wrong! This book is GREAT! It's about a Fourteen year old jewish boy who is sliving in Frankfort, Germany during the late 1930's and is first sent by Hitler to the Lodz Gtto in Poland and the to Auschwitz and Buchenwald. It tells how he survived the years in Lodz and the monthes in Aucshwitz and Buchenwald. I sugest this book to anyone who likes historical fiction.
