Summary: Daniel's Story,My review
Review: In class we were reading this book, and it was so touching that I will never forget it.I loved this book, and not only did it teach me more about the Holocaust, but it encouraged me to learn more about the Holocaust. Daniel starts off a 14 year old boy an a train, but then goes through hard times, loosing his family and ending up at a concentration camp. I encourage all the other young readers to read this book or buy it.It will be worth the time and money!

Summary: Great Historical Fiction Novel
Review: Daniel's Story, a book about a young boy going through the holocaust is one of the best books I have read in my life. I picked up this book because of my love for historical fiction. Daniel's story brought me smiles, tears, and sympathy.
Carol Matas is a great author and great descriptiveness towards her writing. She writes as the character. As if Daniel were my age, talking like my age. This creates more of a connection with the main character for the reader.
This book describes the average life as a jewish child during the holocaust. What they had to go through, and the triumphs they had to overcome. I would highly suggest this book to anyone and everyone. Even if you are not interested in historical fiction.
Great for school teachers as well for their students to read because of its historical information. Basically Daniel is taken from his home to live in a ghetto. Here, his family either dies or gets trasnsported somewhere else. Him and his father manage to stay together, and stay alive. Their is also a little love route in this book for all of you girls. haha
Again, great book, good to read. Highly suggest if you want to learn about the Holocaust and the way it really was. Daniel is a great, strong character. And the way the author portrays him through out the book relates to many of the young readers out their.
Here is my personal rating:
Description: 4/5
Want a book that can give you vivid pictures in your mind? You will find it here. Great descriptions of not only settings, but character detail. Although the author can be abrupt at some times.
Plot: 5/5
Great plot, although it is very similar to Elie Weisel's "Night". But great story of a young boy and father trying to survive during the lead of the Third Reich.
Characters: 4/5
You will find many character through out this book. Many though are young boys, just about Daniel's age. They all though have very unique characterisitcs. Although sometimes the author could use more description in them to make them "Round Characters".

So, my raiting would be a 13/15. Again, great book!

Summary: Daniel's Story
Review: Daniel's Story is a wonderful book. The story is about a 12 year old boy who is sent to a concentration camp with his family which consists of Erika (his sister), Mama, and Papa. The setting is in 1933 when Hitler hated the Jewish people.

Daniel and and his family are taken on a terrifying trip. They were treated horribly. Since Hitler hated the Jewish people they did not get to take a shower and had to work all day and were only fed one meal a day.

I liked reading this story because it has a personality in it, like you are not reading the story, but someone else is telling you the story in real life. I really enjoyed reading this book.

Summary: Everybody in the worls should read this book
Review: I am Jewish, and when I read this book, I found out the realistic happening of what could have been me in the Holocaust if my ancestors had not moved to America before this all started. Books like "The Devils Arithmatic" are very well written books but do not give the 411 on what really happned. For example, "The Devil's Arithmatic" skiped parts about Jews ging into a ghetto and they made the Jews not know who the Nazis were in 1942. By that date, everyone that was Jewish knew what was going on and would have probably been sent to a ghetto long before. This book, however, gives the true happening of the Holocaust, and shows what people lost that were so dear to them. I was almost in tears when I finished this book. My teacher at my middle school had a historical book report project she assigned. She reccomended "Daniel's Story" as her favorite book. My friend who sits next to me, is Hindu and read the book when she knew nothing about the Holocaust. She loved it and couldn't put it down. In conclusion, this book is one of my favorites and it was a great learning experience- even though I knew much about the Holocaust already. Please read it!

Summary: Moving and Educational
Review: What makes this book so good is that it you are moved by the story of Daniel's life and come away thoroughly enriched by the process on a moral level. Yet, what you may not realize is that, afterwards, you have an excellent foundation of what the Holocaust is. I read this back as a child and really enjoyed it. As I grew older, I became an intern and volunteer at the U.S. Holocaust Museum (the institution which was behind the production of the book and has a children's exhibit of the same name). When I underwent the training, I realized that I already knew much about the Holocaust from Daniel's Story. Not only will you know that the Holocaust was a tragic event but you (or your children) will know the specific processes that victims went through such as being deported, going to ghettos, and eventually to the concentration camps. An all-around wonderful book for children!

Summary: A moving holocaust story
Review: Daniel's sotry is a wonderful book. I know that many teens may think it's boring. But even those who don't like to red would enjoy this book. It has a very fairytale like ending that leaves you to think about the holocaust in general. This book was what got me reading holocaust books. If you enjoy history then you would love this book.

Summary: Graphic and Tragic, But Moving
Review: Despite how short it is, this book is not for children under the age of twelve, I believe. Because of information that could be disturbing to children of the targeted age group and graphic writing, I'm giving this story 4 stars. It is very depressing for sensitive readers (like me).
Other than this, the book is awesome. Carol Matas is a brilliant writer, and Daniel is a memorable hero. I suggest this book to those who are interested in learning about the terrors of the holaucast.

Summary: Beware of content for younger children!
Review: Although the reading difficulty level IS appropriate for 9 yr olds, the content is too shocking and graphic for most children under 12 or 13. The story of what a child in the holocaust faced is well written and full of important information and history, but not appropriate for preadolescents. For example in one scene a NAZI soldier picks up at 10 yr old girl and breaks her back over his knee, then kills her hysterical mother. In another scene NAZIs throw babies to their deaths out of a 2nd story window into the bed of waiting trucks below.

These are important things for people to know, but a 9-11 yr old does not need THAT much information yet. It IS an excellent book for adolescents and adults though.

Summary: Great!
Review: This book started off at a nice beginning, but it was very sad in the end. A lot of Daniel's family members were killed because of their enemy's discrimination towards them. Read it and get the other info. It's great!

Summary: A Great Story
Review: I read this book for the first time in the 4th grade. Since that time, i have always referred to this book as my favorite of all time. I really liked the way Carol Matas created the characters in this book. they all had unique characteristics that made them seem so real. i recommend this book for everyone because i believe that everyone should see how these human beings were treated at this time.
