Summary: I Am The Cheese Book Review
Review: I Am The Cheese by Robert Cormier, is a wonderful book that will lead your imagination down multiple paths that twist and turn. In this book, nothing is as it appears to be. This book has several parts to it including a written tape session between "T" and "A", which reveals a secret past; and the events taking place along a seventy-mile long bike ride to Rutterburg Vermont.
The Farmer family has no living relatives, and they move to Monument, Massachusetts from Rawlings, Pennsylvania, when their son, Adam, is only a small child.
Adam is the main character, a shy and obedient only child who loves his father and mother very much. Many things in Adam's life are routine. Things such as Adam's mother's mysterious phone calls each Thursday night and the once in awhile visits Adam's father gets from "Grey Man" seem to be part of normal and everyday life for Adam. Then one day Adam becomes suspicious of his mother's phone calls because she has no friends or family and he decides to do something about it. Adam picks up the phone one night during his mother's phone hour and over-hears something that changes his and the readers' perspectives on his life forever. Adam keeps discovering little secrets about his family's past, and eventually his father confronts him to find out how much he knows.
~~~~~~~~~~
Adam isn't a very social child; he'd rather observe peoples' actions and interactions, than actually partake in any of them. Adam has one friend, however, named Amy, whom he is in love with. The two friends met by chance at the entrance of a library in their small town.
Amy is quite a character, full of humor and spontaneous actions and the two have tons of fun while they are together, pulling "Numbers" on the general population, and otherwise just hanging out. Amy is Adam's sole inspiration as he rides his bike seventy miles from Monument, to Rutterburg, Vermont to visit his father in the hospital.
Adam packs lightly for his trip, only taking with him $35.93 and a mysterious package, wrapped in aluminum foil and then in newspaper, for his father. Along the way Adam encounters many things, such as a mean German Shepard, a lewd man, bullies, and other such characters who are not as they seem.
As Adam rides along, he battles the elements, his aching body, and even his memory. Each stop along the way is a joyful memory remembered, until Adam realizes that he can't even trust that, because, there are always the "Never Knows".
~~~~~~~~~~
The OZK tape sessions are quite an interesting part of the book as well. Brint, or "T", is a therapist whose goal is to help Adam, or "A", remember specific events from his past that are crucial to both Brint and Adam. Brint seems like a nice guy who is there to help Adam, but as Adam's past unfolds it will be up to you to decide whether or not helping Adam is Brint's true motive. With the 'help' of Brint, the doors are thrown wide-open to Adam's past which is both shocking and hair-raising. Sometimes the truth really does hurt.
The events in this book will arouse questions that will leave your head screaming for answers, just as they did for Adam and I. Do not fret, though, because most of your questions will be answered, eventually, at the conclusion of the book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I recommend it to anyone who likes a complex book that is mentally trying.

Summary: A book of unbalance and surprise
Review: In I am the cheese, Robert Cormier depicts Adam Farmer as a shy character that many teenagers could relate to. The book depicts Adam in two different stories: one involving Adam on a trip by bike to his father in Rutterburg, Vermont; the other with Adam accompanied by a psychologist, trying to figure out Adam's past. In both stories, the reader is caught off balance between Adam's sudden entrance into a hospital to Adam realizing his secret and dangerous past. This book not only reveals suspense and action, it also lets teenagers relate to the character and find out more about themselves. Never have I read something so paralleled to feelings that many teenagers have, and I believe this book is one of the tops for teenage books. Some of the uncertainty is unoticed in the beginning, but the end is one of great surprise.

Summary: I AM THE CHEESEiest book
Review: The book I AM THE CHEESE, is about a teenager named Adam Farmer (or so he thinks) who is traveling to his father by bike. There are two parts to the story: one of Adam's journey to find his father, and explaining his life to a "doctor" named Brint. My opinion about this book is that it is very cheesy, and not very realistic. The story is about an adolescent who's father has kept secrets from him, all his life. I would recommend this book to people in middle school and higher, because it has many confusing plot turns, and you really have to think about what is happening to understand it. When I read it for the first time, I really didn't understand most of the story; I had to read it over to understand it.
Adam's character is a naïve teenager who discovers his father is hiding the truth from him. His father is then captured, and Adam decides to search for him. It is a very cynic book, and really isn't very good for fun reading. If you want to be depressed and cynical, go ahead and read this, but it does make you feel inferior.

Review: I am the Cheese

By: Jordan Sinclair

I am the Cheese gives a good example of a book where at some moments throughout it the reader may be confused but in the end the plot comes together cleverly. Robert Cormier's style in writing is, making the reader keep interested and always wanting to know what occurs next.

This book is told when a boy, Adam Farmer has lived his life with life changing secrets, and most of what he thinks is his life is one big lie. Adam Farmer escapes his home town riding his bike, looking for his father at a hospital, as Adam is riding he is thinking about tape conversations that are discussed between him and a doctor. As Adam is riding to his father he meets many people who stop him, but still thinking about reaching his father, Adam proceeds.
This book is mainly directed for ages 12 and up. Adams only good friend in the book is his girlfriend, at some moments he describes some physical/sexual behavior between his girlfriend and himself. Robert Cormier writes a good fiction book, which always makes the reader paying attention, and thinking throughout the whole book. Overall in my opinion this book gives a good suspense plot, and I enjoyed it a lot!

I am the Cheese

By Robert Cormier

I am the Cheese is an amazing book to read. It is about a boy, named Adam, who is searching for his father. This search becomes a journey to unlock a secret past, but it is a past that must not be remembered...if Adam is to survive the journey. The characters that Adam is with in the book, is Brint, the teacher, Amy Hertz, Paul Delmonte and much more. This story takes place in Monument and Vermont, where Adam tried to go.
If I were to recommend this book to anyone I would recommend it to 6 - 8 graders because it is a hard book to understand the moral of this story which is the main point. The reason why this book is called I am The Cheese is because Adam's favorite song to sing while he is alone is " The Farmer and the Dell". And at the end of that song is " The cheese stand alone, the cheese stands alone, Heigh - ho, the merry - o, the cheese stands alone". This book seemed to be a young adult suspense thriller, it made me jump out of my seat!

Review: I had to read this book for a Contemporary Lit. class, I was actually suprised at how good of a book this was. Although, its a very choppy written book with a lot of words i havent learned yet, It was an awsome and very mysterious book. I think the only way someone would actually like this book was if they forced themself to read it (which is what i had to do). Every once in a while i would find myself being interested in his crazy life story and not being able to put it down. Its amazing how you find out that the bike ride didnt actually occur. But I would highly reccomend this book- it will be hard to read if you are a LIGHT READER like me- but push yourself to the end and you could possibly learn an important lesson on trust

Summary: Cheese Analysis
Review: I'm in eighth grade, and for my English class we had to read "I am the Cheese" by Robert Cormier. I had previously read his book "The Chocolate War", which I found to be one of the worst books I've ever read. I didn't expect much from "I am the Cheese". The book is composed of tape recordings and flashbacks. It's about a boy who is in therepy with amnesia. When you read the discussions that he had on tape with a mysterious man, and all of the flashbacks, you begin to understand what happened to him. Only in the last couple chapters is the complete truth revealed. I think that the main reason why I only gave this book a 3 is because this book messes with you. I like when books mess with me and make me think a lot; but in this case it messes with you in a stupid way. The ending is kind of disappointing, and to me there are many useless and boring parts. Through most of the book you don't have a clue about what's going on. It's very confusing and I expected a better ending. Some people would call this book a hardcore mystery, I'd only call it barely a mystery. When I think mystery I think of Agatha Christie. Also at the end of the book there are a few pages that you have to analyze, and you may come up with a different solution than someone else. All I have to say is that I think you have to have patience and a liking for other Robert Cormier novels to really enjoy this book.

Review: I do believe that i am the cheese is a great book. It was a book that was interesting. You needed to read the entire book to understand the book. It takes a few pages before the book makes sense. Once you start you want to continue. The book tells about Adam Farmer's life. It starts out with Adam wanting to go and visit his father. He goes on his own little adventure on his way to see his father. The book will really get you in the ending. This book has a real different type of ending. If you read you shall find out why this ending is so special.

Summary: Review of I Am the Cheese
Review: This is a very creepy book, and by the way it is banned. I couldn't sleep after finishing it.
This story is about a young boy, Adam Farmer, who is in an asylum. He is being questioned about his past by a doctor, named Brint. This is all happening because Adam witnessed his mother get killed by a mafia hit man and his father dissapear.
This is a wonderful story! read it now!

Summary: Im the cheese
Review: I Am the Cheese is about how a boy, named Adam, who has to remember his lost past. His past is forgotten because it is too painful for him to remember by himself, but he has help from a doctor. Throughout the book he describes his bike ride to his fathers house, that never happened, and the challenges along the way.

It is a confusing book, and I would not recommend it to younger readers. The book is boring and drags on. I had to read the book twice before I could understand it properly. The author brought his point across which was, that you can't trust anyone in this world anymore.
