Rating: Summary: Reads like a teen movie Review: I bought this book because of its title, something I never do, I almost always read reviews first. I hope you will. Most here are very positive, mine is not. I haven't been a teenage drama queen in many, many years but I am a Mrs. Baggoli (her drama teacher.) Lola is a grating, unsympathetic heroine: she's at least as self-absorbed as her rival Carla Santini. She's also too smart by half for a 16 year old. I'm sure it'll be a popular movie-- I won't see it, though.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK ROCKS! Review: I didn't hear about this book in till the movie came out.I saw the movie and was dissapointed read the book and i love it! it's about lola who is a drama queen.SHE was born and raised in NY and her family moves to DELLWOOD NJ which she calls deadwood she goes to school and meets carla the meanest and most popular girl in dellwood. They both want a lead part in the school-play who will take center stage???SHE meets ella ella becomes her best friend. and she likes lola's fave band sidhartha. When sidhartha breaks up the girls' world goes crazy. There is a fare-well concert in NY witch carla is going to. THEY want to impress carla and meet the band's lead singer stu woff what will they do???????????????
Rating: Summary: Not a great read Review: I have to say, this book REALLY dissapointed me. I liked the characters and everything, but the whole concept of the plot was wasted on the obsession of a cheap rock band. The main idea of the book is about how these two girls ABSOLUTLY HAVE TO go to the farewell concert of their fave band. When I saw the preveiw for the new movie it really did look interesting, so when I saw the book I bought it, but now I wish I hadent. The beginning started out interesting enough and had potential, I thought I was really going to like the book. But then the entire plot of the story was engulfed in the pointless, stupid obsession with Sidhartha. Aparently all the band members were complete jerks and in the end the girls still idolized them. I wish this story had had a little more depth than Sidhartha. The two girls will do anything to go to this concert/party, including sneak out against their parents wishes, steal, lie, and walk around New York in the middle of the night with a drunk rock star. The entire quest to meet them dragged on throughout the whole book. There were other, smaller parts of the story such as Mary/Lola's battle against Carla Santini, that was interesting and also the whole pygmalion play was amusing enough but mainly it was just a bunch of 16-year old girls falling all over some weird goth rock band. It was useless and boring. Maybe the movie will be better. I like Lindsay Lohan as an actress so maybe she can add some spark and concept to this horribly tasteless book
Rating: Summary: Good Book Review: I heard about the movie called "Confessions of a teenage drama queen" starring Lindsay Lohan after reading about the book on amazon. I decided to read the it before the movie came out. It was definately worth it. Lola was hilarious through the whole book. She was like someone I had never met but wish I would someday, so i colud see her antics really play out.
Rating: Summary: I'm am such a Teenage Drama Queen!! Review: I liked this book because I think that Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen is a charming polite book to read. Also, I think that this book is one of my favorite books because it is told from the perspective of a teenage girl just like me because I am, as most people say, a Teenage Drama Queen at heart. I think that this book quotes a very important message stating that it you shouldn't hide who you really are and that it is okay to be different from everyone else. I also thought that it would be a great book for young girls to read because it gives a lot of suggestions about High school or just about going to any new type of school and it also gives you many tips on what to do if you are struggling to fit in with the crowds. Lola (main character) shows teenagers how to be themselves and also how to reach for their dreams and goals in life. She is a true role model for young teenagers, she does not give up and she never stops trying. This book kept me at the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next in the book as it tells the story of Lola and her problems. What I also liked was that Dyan Sheldon (author) added some pop star singers and movie stars that are present today in life and added them into her book which made it even more interesting. For people who read like me (some what slow), this book moved quickly and was perfectly paced for me but even though there was a lot of pages to read I still got through it in a perfect amount of time. But even though this book might not be a hilarious, laugh out loud, peeing in your pants kind of a book, I still though that it was some what funny in some ways and that it is a great book for teenager girls to read. I thought that this book was a very creative, dramatic, adventurous novel that everyone should get a chance to read, even if they aren't a teenage girl who is in to preppy teenager girl books.
Rating: Summary: Confessions of a teenage book critic Review: I liked this book. Although I couldn't really connect with what was happening to her, I think the main character Lola really had a personality. I would reccomend this book to teenagers of people who enjoy first person stories this book really keeps you wondering what will happen next as it tells you of one problem between two friends. I think Most readers will be able to understand having that one person who seems like they are always better than you and this book is about one girl overcoming that person.
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: I loved this book, it was even better than the movie. It is a very unique idea that almost inspires me to become an actress. Defintely a worthwhile read.
Rating: Summary: Great Light Read Review: I picked this book up from the library because my little sister is a Drama Queen and I wanted to know what she was going to be like when she was a teenager. I ended up really liking the book. You can definatley relate to Lola and she has a great personality. The details of her battle with the popular girl are wonderful but the end is unexpected. The other reviewer said that only one person walked away w/ her dignity but I don't think that's true. Anyway I highly recomend this if you are looking for a light funny read. The one problem was it wasn't to thought provoking and you definitley couldn't have a disscusion about it.
Rating: Summary: Fun read Review: I picked this book up in the bookstore, because it seemed like a fun book and it was. It's about a teenage girl who aspires to become an actor. She gets into many situations, most of them have you laughing all throughout the book. It's a fun read, recommended for teens of all ages.
Rating: Summary: This book is a movie now! Review: I read this book about two- three years ago and it really was a interesting story. It wasn't untill the movie "Connfessions of A Teenage Drama Queen" that I remembered the book. I rented the movie and as i watched it, my mind started to put the story toghether. By the tail end of the movie i already knew what was going to happen at the end. The movie pretty much does the book justice, but so does Lindsey Lowhand who plays "lola". I suggest read the book , then rent the movie!
