Summary: The Teen Queen Disappoints
Review: Although the basic message of this book is touching- (be yourself, stand out, don't be afraid to do what you want to do) -the writing style is lacking. The story is developed and has good, strong characters but is cliché and predictable. Not a book I would buy, but a book I would perhaps borrow had I not read it already.

Review: Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen Candlewick Press, 2002
272 pages,
ISBN: 0763618489

Lights, Camera, Action! Mary Elizabeth Cep (preferably Lola, after the star of Damn Yankees) is moving from glamorous New York City, to Dellwood, "Deadwood", New Jersey. She has to start totally over, which for her, mean proving herself to a whole new group of people.
Lola has based her whole life on a Broadway play, and she's the main star. So when she sets off to make a statement, and become the star of the small, suburban town of Dellwood, she comes across Carla Santini, who thinks she's the star of Dellwood. Their instant enemies, but their feud makes the book a major laugh and enjoyable fight after fight.
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen is a brilliant story of the challenges of growing up, combined with a twist of unique encounters Lola faces. Dyan Sheldon creates such a story that you can't help but have the book become your new best friend. As the book unfolds before you, you're addicted to it without choice. You soon become part of the book, one of the characters, feeling and seeing all. Sheldon uses dialogue and problems that teenagers can easily relate to, making it the perfect book.
Whenever I think of this book, I think of it as a "chick flick" in the book form. Boys can read it, but girls will fall in love with it. I could keep raving and raving about this book but my final words are this: this story, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, soon becomes your story- every single one of us has an inner drama queen, and this book sure proves it!

Summary: opinion of Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
Review: Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen is a cool subject-cool writing-fun and interesting plot. It is baced on a modern teenage girl who is in fact a drama queen. Mary Elizabeth Cep or Lola as she prefers to be called is from New York City. She loves catching every ones eye. Then her and her family, twin sisters and her single mother who makes pots move to New Jersey while her father (her parents are divorced.)still lives in New York City. She then goes to school at Dellwood high or as she calls it " Deadwood." She finds out that there is a play comming up Pygmalion set on modern-day in New York City with the main part being Eliza Doolittle as the part that Carla and Lola want. Lola has to compete with the girl who has stood out to everyone in school and is everyoness role model.
Lola is independent- unique person. She likes standing out and being her own person. For an example, one week she wore just black, another the rainbow. Lola is "going to be a great actor." She has focused her whole life and determination to being the great actor she is meant to be. Then, she meets one person and becomes her best-friend, Ella. They both love the band Sidhartha. Lola most of all likes Stu Wolff more, who she has a big crush on.He is the songwriter and lead singer of Sidhartha. The terrible news now is that the band is breaking up. The band is going to have a far well concert in New York City. After that there is going to be an after party.
Carla and her group are making everyone at school not talk to Lola and Ella because Lola got the part to the play. They are not use to having another person competing with them for there spot aat school.Lola neverbacks down either. Witch gets Carla really mad. That's what pushes Lola to keep doing it too. When Lola lies and Ella thinks she is going to get caught doesn't make Lola nervous. It just makes her work harder for it. That makes it really interesting and exciting too.
I think that this book is made for all pre-teens and teens. I think you should all read it. It is a funny, wild, and dramatic book. I think a lot of girls could relate to these characters. The characters are very different but so alike. Crazy thinks go on thatmake you want to keep reading. Lola is very dramatic thuogh. she will go to the farthest extent beford she gives up getting her way. Once her mind is set on something, you better belivie it will come true. Lola is the most dramatic person i have ever heard of. her controverstes go on forever. I think I would read it again though. It was adventurous. Thi is one of the best books I have read. Pick up this book today!

Summary: a wild ride
Review: Did you see the movie? If you have (or even if you haven't), you must check out this fun book!

Mary Cep wants to be called Lola, so she'll have something imaginative in her life as she dies a cultural death in the New Jersey suburbs after her family moves from New York. "In the suburbs, people get excited when they have their kitchens redone."

Her new high school in Dellwood --- Deadwood, as she calls it --- promises no excitement except possibly the starring role in the new school play. Fellow student Ella Gerard then develops into a kindred spirit despite her quiet demeanor, and Lola begins to feel some glimmers of hope. That is, until Miss Popularity, Carla Santini, does everything she can to thwart Lola and now Ella.

Lola does not sit down for this treatment from Carla, and her antics make this a hilarious book. After boasting in front of the entire school that she and Ella would indeed be at an important band's party in New York, they have to resort to nothing short of a trip to the police station to make it a reality. Lola certainly makes her life in New Jersey more exciting than she bargained for, and readers will enjoy the wild ride.

Characters have many interesting levels in this book, including Carla. Lots of surprises will also encourage readers to keep following the drama at Dellwood into the sequel.

Summary: The Best Book Ever
Review: Do you ever read a book that is so good; you can't put it down until you've finished it? Well this is one of those books. Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen are about Lola who has to move to New Jersey. She meets the lead singer of Sydartha and no one believes her especially evil Carla. I gave this book a 5 star ranking because it is a book that I think every girl can relate to. There's always a mean popular girl at school and it just seems more realistic than other teen girl books. Lola is a Drama Queen. She over exaggerates everything to get her way (even though sometimes it doesn't work) and she doesn't wear the 'in-style' clothing like the other girls, she wears clothes that reflect her.
One thing that happened was when Lola had to move from New York, NY to Dellwood, NJ. She lost every chance of becoming a star. It was definatly a terrible moment.
Another thing that happened was she went to the concert with her best friend and she lost her money to get the tickets but she managed to met Stu Wolff and that was memorable. They went around town and got coffee and talked even though he was drunk the whole time. So if you want a book that you wouldn't be able to put down, get Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen

Summary: Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
Review: First off, do not judge a book by its cover! I hated this cover but it is a lot better than it looks. A story about a girl from the big city and coming to "Deadwood" Lola (the girl) finds the sister of her soul unfortunately having strict parents and not being as risky as Lola. They want to go to a concert in NY, Lola convinced they can get their because she told the most popular girl she was going and Ella (her friend) afraid of what might happen in the end. So what's a girl to do?

I absolutely loved this book and fell in love with the author and how the way she beautifully illustrates this book with a bold girl that almost any girl can relate to in some way or another!

Summary: A great book....
Review: I actually read the newer edition with Lindsay Lohan on the cover. At first, I thought this book would be a cheesy teenager book with a girl trying to achieve her dreams of being a star. But I actually turned out to LOVE it! Its through the mind of Lola (Mary Elizabeth) Cep. Its all about her trying to achieve her dreams of being a star and try to get through life in her town outside of New York City. Lola found her new best friend, Ella, and her enemie Carla Santani who she tries to avoid, Carla is popular, and very rich and auditions to get the part of the main charcater in the school play production. Well, you'll have to find out with Lola takes center stage in the play, and if Lola gets her dream of going to her favorite band's last concert ever and proves Carla Santini wrong. I recommend this book to ages 12-16 for some inappropiate situations which people under 12 should not read about. Happy reading!
