Rating: Summary: In my opinion, this book is one of the best written! Review: I believe that this book can easily be read and enjoyed by readers of all ages. It is extremely well worded, the characters well thought out, and the plot superbly crafted. It is a phenominal novel, and one which I couldn't put down once I started it. I especially enjoyed how it still bore a bit of similarity to our own world, while at the same time enveloping us in an amazing world of fantasy, which I simply had to succumb to. From the beginning chapters in stately Jordan College and the streets, roofs, and basements of Oxford, to the Royal Arctic Institute and the flat of Miss Coulter in London, to Bolvangar and Svalbard in the Far North, this incredible, phenominal novel was one engenious surprise after another. I reccomend that anyone who enjoys fantasy read it, and I also believe that if anybody who doesn't like fantasy reads this book, they just might start liking it.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED this book it was a great read! Review: This book opens your eyes to a whole world and explores the wonder of being a child, and the power of friendship please have the time of your life and read this book
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I've EVER Read. Review: This is THE BEST book I have ever, ever read
Rating: Summary: WOW!! Review: This book is exciting and well written, if not always clear. Lyra is an imperfect character, which I think is a good quality, who knows how to stand up for herself, but she is not a good judge of character. I can't elaborate much, because it would give away the story. If you are going to start reading "The Golden Compass", be sure to get "The Subtle Knife" and "His Dark Matirials" first. I have not yet read the later, but the first two have cliff-hanger endings worse than the ends of most chapters. Don't be scared off because of the lenth of these books. Once I got into them, I found them far to short.
Rating: Summary: Surpurb Review: This great and wonderful book kept me wanting to read more more than any book I've read. I highly recommed this book to anyone with the taste for Fantsey (Sci-Fiction?). I can't wait until Pullman writes the last book "His Dark Martials". I'll be sure to be one of the first to buy it!
Rating: Summary: A fantasy-adventure about a courageous young girl Review: This was perhaps one of the best books I have ever read. I could not put it down because the action and story-line did not stop. The book did not move too fast or two slow, but just at the right pace. Being 16, one would think that I am too old to read this book, but this is not the case. In fact, I do not think that an elementary student would appreciate its full value. This is a book that everyone can enjoy, although each person will enjoy it on a different level. I would highly recommmend this book to anyone in general, but especially to those who would enjoy a thrilling adventure novel. I cannot wait to read the next two books in the trilogy...
Rating: Summary: I Think the book was probly the best I ever read. Review: First of I liked the very realistic (or so he made it seem.) The characters I loved, the things the did really made you get into the book. One thing I disliked was the end; it was too abrubt.
Rating: Summary: It took my breath away! Outstanding! Review: I just finished the book less then 3 hours ago and I'm still mesmerized by it!! The way Pullman draws you in so you just have to read on is unbelievable. The book is full of vivid settings and you can just imagine being there and watching the adventure unfold! It leaves me thirsting for more. This book is a "must read". You'll love it!
Rating: Summary: A definate page-turner Review: I loved this book so much!!! You get so caught up in the characters. It's almost like they're part of you. I read it right after I had read the Tiger in the Well, which is also by Philip Pullman. Any mystery, science-fiction, or adventure lover would love this book. It's got something for everyone!
Rating: Summary: I loved the book! Review: The Golden Compass is a great book! It is about a girl who goes on a wonderful adventure to a place that she knows nothing about. It keeps you wanting to read the book chapter after chapter. I would recomened the book to anyone. I would also recomened its sequel, The Subtle Knife. So take my advice, read the book!!!
