Rating: Summary: THIS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!! Review: This is the greatest book I have ever read! Not only is it exciting and fast-paced, but the addition of daemons in an alternate universe adds a unique spin not found in other adventure books. Lyra is a great character and so is Pan!
Rating: Summary: Utterley Absorbing - a pleasure to read Review: A wonderful book, one that I just could not stop reading. When I finally reach the last page I just wanted more. I have now read this first instalment and the equally excellent sequel THE SUBTLE KNIFE. I wait with bated breath for news of the third and final Chapter.

Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This book is wonderful! It's one of my all-time favorites. This is the kind of book that you can't wait to read. Once you've started it you can't put it down. You'll read it at lunch, on your coffee breaks and any time you have a free second. The plot is superb, the characters wonderful, and the atmosphere perfect. You know how in some stories there are threads flowing all through them, then at the end they get all tied together? This is one of those stories.
Rating: Summary: Good Book!!!!!!!!!!! Review: The Golden Compass is a very good book. It had a lot of connections of the characters, which I liked. It made me really want to read the sequel.

Rating: Summary: AWESOME BOOK! Review: This is an awesome book. It deserves a place along my Tamora Pierce, Brian Jacques, C.S.Lewis, and J.R.R.Tolkien books. If you like fantasy or ADVENTURE,ADVENTURE,ADVENTURE, than you should GET THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Brilliant story, brilliant writing Review: Pullman has done what most authors fail to do: he has come up with an original story and told it brilliantly. It is easy to fall in love with the characters. You'll still be thinking about Lyra and her friends long after you finish the book. If you're willing to be patient and stick with it, you will thoroughly enjoy this book.
Rating: Summary: Totally, completely and incredibly amazing! Review: This was an amazing book! I highly recommend it for readers of all ages. The only thing I found vaguely annoying, and slightly disconcerting, was the way the author occasionally, and without a seeming pattern, sometimes switched voices. I felt that this technique detracted more from the story than it contributed. Otherwise, it was a well-crafted, well-told story, and Lyra is an extremely interesting character. I was intrigued by the idea of the human-daemon bond, and I'm looking forward to learning more about its connection to Dust and to the science and psychology of that world and ours. I'm glad to see that the book is out in paperback, and I'm definitely looking forward to reading the others. Keep it up, Mr. Pullman!
