Review: THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST BOOK i HAVE EVER READ!i WOULD GIVE IT 10 STARS IF i COULD. i DON'T SEE HOW ANYONE COULD NOT GIVE IT 5 STARS!iT'S ABOUT THIS GIRL NAMED LYRA AND SHE SETS OUT ON A JOURNEY TO FIND OUT WHAT DUST IS, TO FIND HER FAHTER AND TO GET HER FRIEND ROGER BACK FROM THE "GOBBLERS." I WOULD TOTALLY RECOMENDTHIS BOOK.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of my favorite books of all time!
Review: This book is an enchanting story about Lyra and her journeys. I love different kinds of books, and this is one of my favorites. I loved it so much, I made my Mom read it, and she loved it too! I recommend the Golden Compass to any young adult who likes enchanting stories. I can't wait for the third one to come out (and also recommend the second book, The Subtle Knife).

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A suspence that Mark Twain might look for "far fetched"
Review: This book combines action suspence action and a weird girl named Lyra into an action packed drama.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A very interesting and suspenseful book!
Review: The Golden Compass is one of the only books that I could not put down! I've already read it 3 times! I love how Lyra's world is so like our world, but in so many ways it is much different. I also love how the end makes you so eager to read the sequel. Also, so much happens that there's never any parts that just drag along. I highly recommend this book to any fantasy lovers.

Summary: Read this book!
Review: First of all, I have to say that even though at a glance this book looks like a kid's book, it is wonderful for all ages. I read The Golden Compass last year when I was in the sixth grade and I couldn't put it down, and then I made my mom read it, too. She didn't love it as much as I did, but she did like it a lot. This book is a beautiful adventure story, but it isn't just the regular good-vs.-evil-and-good-always-wins kind of adventure story. The plot is deep and the characters, though so well defined they're real to the reader, continuosly present surprises and things don't turn out the way out think they will. Maybe when you first pick up this book you won't see what all the fuss is about. Keep reading!! This book, along with The Subtle Knife, has made me laugh, cry, and just about burst with anger in the same chapter. I'm almost positive you will love this book, no matter how old you are, and the sequel, unlike some other sequels, is just as good as the first. So read this book!

Summary: This is the kind of book that changes your life
Review: I stumbled on a review of The Golden Compass a while back in the NYTs and it was laudatory and so I bought it. I read it by myself and now am in the middle of reading it out loud with my children for the second time. It is truely a beautiful spell binding fantasy with lavish details about our world and parallel worlds and questions concerning the nature of human consciousness, the roots of good and evil, duty and responsiblity and so on. These philosophical queries are set in an incredible adventure story filled with wonderful and inspiring heroes described in beautiful English. Some of our favorites are a brilliant, brave and beautiful witch called Serafina Pekkala and a noble warrior polar bear, Iorek Byrnison. I hope you enjoy this wonderful fantasy as much as we continue to do.

Review: Oh my GOD! This is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read! That is pretty good because I have read some pretty amazing fantasies. For example: The Hobbit, The Fellowship of the Rings, two OUTSTANDING Books. I would put this book right up there!

Summary: This was an excellent book!
Review: This was my favorite book I've ever read. Philip Pullman uses extremely vivid words to create an awesome word-picture. Many of my friends read his books too. I am not comletely done with the sequel, but it is very good so far.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The Best book I've ever read
Review: "A mixture of suspense, action and fantasy all bound together to make the perfect read. A must for all."

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: The Golden Compass is a disgrace to modern literature.
Review: "The Golden Compass" is one of those books that you have to force yourself to read all the way through. It is a complete disgrace. There is no laughter, no worth-while action, no nothing. Philip Pullman has now totally proved himself to be a moron. It is the story of a college girl in another world who wants to go to the North pole. Apparently there is some kind of portal to different worlds there. Along the way there she teams up(and fights with) a bunch of sordid characters who are never described thoroughly enough to be interesting. That makes me angry. I wasted my money on that piece of trash. I mean, the plot practically goes nowhere, the characters are pathetic, and Pullman just can't write a good story. Period. Don't buy this book. I am not saying it beacause I have a personal problem with this guy, I am just saying it for your own good. Read this book and you will waste your money, time, and life.

Philip Pullman's sequel to "The Golden Compass" also disgusts me.
