Review: This book was amazing. I have read many books but this was the most exciting, most thrilling, most wonderful book by far. The author made you feel like you were actully in the story. I felt the characters emotions, and what they were going through. After I picked the book up I could not put it down. It kept me at the edge of my seat. I am dying to read The Subtle Knife!! If you have not read this book, you need to!!!!!

I would recommend this book to anyone. The interesting and lovable characters will become a part of your life, and the detailed, suprizing plot will keep you glued to the book all the way to the end of The Golden Compass and on to the second book in the trilogy, The Subtle Knife.

Review: This was such a fascinating book! I could read it several times and never get tired of it! It has become one of the many favorite books I have including the Subtle Knife. I can't wait until the Amber Spyglass comes out! I loved this book and all it's characters-it had my absolutly spell-bound! There is no way you will be able to turn this down, a page turner! Review: While working for a book company I had a lot of time to browse the merchandise. I have always had trouble concentrating on stories due to A.D.D., so I am very hard to please. When I came across The Golden Compass I was very intrigued by the fact that the hero/main character in the story is an adolescent girl. So I read the first chapter. Usually after the first or second chapter I know if I will be able to continue reading. Well, I kept going. I couldn't put it down. I went home early from work to read it. I even declined invitations to parties to read this book. It was SO amazing that I ran out to buy the second in the series before I had finished this one, simply because I knew I was going to stay up all night until I'd read the very last word, & I had to have the sequel on hand, so that I wouldn't miss anything. It usually takes me months or even years to finish reading a book, it took me three & a half weeks to read The Golden Compass, and those were three of the greatest, most adventurous weeks of my life! I recommend this book to everyone, no matter what age. It is thrilling, exciting, sad, happy, funny and terrifying all in one! It's also great for the family to read together. Enjoy it!

Summary: This book was exciting and had me spellbound
Review: I recieved this book as a Christmas present and as soon as I unwraped it I knew I would love it. I lay awake that night trying to get to the end until 11:00pm. When I didn't finish it I set an alarm for 6:00am the next day to do exactly what I'd planned. Even then I got up late. I have read the book a good many times since and I still could with the same enthusiasm.

Review: "The Golden Compass" is a very jocular, adverturous, interesting and great fantasy book. It wraps you up in its story and keeps you there till the last page is turned. I myself could not put it down and it was the same for "The Subtle Knife". I love these books and I am waiting for the last book so I can find out what happens to Lyra.

Review: This captivating story is wonderful. I love to read and have read many great books, and this book most definatly ranks among my all time favorite books. Once you start reading, the book really transports you to another world, and it is impossible to put the book down. It was amazing, eye opening, and thought- provoking! I love this book! I also read the sequal. I also enjoyed that wonderful book, but i think the first is the better. the Subtle Knife did not speak to me the way The Golden Compass did. The sequal was, though, a great read!!! i suggest EVERYONE should read these books!

Summary: This was a fantastic Book with a thought provoking setting.
Review: "The Golden Compass" is a masterpiece of young adult literature. Though the date in which it takes place is unclear, it is interesting in that it seems to alternate between past, present, and future... For example, arrows are still commonly used as weaponry, but the machinery used in the plot seems far more advanced than any yet known. Also, the existence of dœmons (even the way it is spelled) gives the book an other worldly quality. Perhaps the world in the northern lights is the one here, and now?...

I loved this book, and I eagerly search for the sequel, "The Subtle Knife."
