Summary: The best fantasy book ever written!
Review: The Golden Compass is one of my all-time favorite books.Philip Pullman is a great author, and I reccomend this book to anybody looking for a great fantasy novel. The storyline is great, the characters well thought out, and the overall book one of the best I have ever read. So, if you have any sense, buy(and tell your friends to buy) The Golden Compass.

Summary: The Golden Compass
Review: The Golden Compass is a totally captivating book. I had it recommended to me by a friend two years ago but did not remember what he had told me until now. I personally enjoy the strong female character, Lyra. I find her spunk and enthusiam reflecting my feelings as the reader. With the wonderful, descriptive writing, I felt drawn into the book, going on a cold voyage to the north with Lyra and the gyptians, etc. I felt that I was actually there waiting for the Armored bears, flying in the balloon, climbing on the roof, or any other experiances. I would recomend this book to any reader, especially girls who enjoy a good thrill and love adventure, suspense, or just plain fun.

Summary: Recommended to anyone with an open mind
Review: I am a 13 year old girl, and many would think I could not understand the writing of a genius like Pullman. I understood it perfectly, and I loved it. This book is well-crafted and smart; the plot is complete, and makes you want more. I've read many of Pullman's books, including "Ruby in the Smoke", "Shadow in the North", "Tiger in the Well", "Spring-Heeled Jack", "Clockwork", "The Golden Compass", and "the Tin Princess". After reviewing Pullman's style, the reader can tell the depths of the ethics and morals of each story. I'd recommend this to anyone with an open mind- You'd need one to appreciate "The Golden Compass".

Summary: I loved reading this book to my children
Review: This is the best and most interesting children's book I've read in the last two years, and, after 3 children, I've read them all. It gripped my emotions and imagination and the imagination of my 9 and 12 year old sons. Although I often get tired of books that have a magical explanation of the world, this one was truly wonderful, not trite, not sentimental, but moving. Get it.

Summary: Very Imaginative!
Review: I thought The Golden Compass was a wonderful story. The creativity of Pullman was impressive, especially the imagery of the North which made me feel like I was there and needed to bundle up as well! I am eagerly awaiting to read the second book, which I can find out what happens to Lyra and all the characters who surround her. A great fantasy tale!

Summary: The Golden Compass: A book to please all!
Review: The book, The Golden Compass was excellent. It was definately one of the best books I have ever read. Most fantasy books are so hard to understand and unrealistic, but this one surley isn't. Even though armored bears, daemons, and other universes are just pretend, Philip Pullman made them very realistic. I couldn't put this book down! Lyra and her daemon were very fascinating. After reading this book, I found myself wanting a daemon of my own. I recomend this book to anyone who has an imagination and doesn't mind thinking about the book a little.

Summary: Mystically Contraversial-THE GOLDEN COMPASS
Review: The book "THE GOLDEN COMPASS" seemingly transported me to the relm of daemons, and outer worldly convections, where betrayal and comfort seemed to walk hand and hand. The battle between good and evil constantly rages, and rumors spread panic among land and water inhabitants alike. The plot was unlike anything that I've ever read before, and the golden compass seemed so real, that I found myself longing to be one of the few who could read it. Phillip Pullman is truly a genious. And if you think THE GOLDEN COMPASS was good, wait untill you read THE SUBTLE KNIFE.

Summary: this book rocks
Review: This is such a good book. I've read both it and it's sequel The Subtle Knife twice now while waiting for the final addition, The Amber Spyglass, which I have on raincheck for when it comes out in May. I can't wait. I lent the book to a freind and he loves it too. This book pulls you into it; you cannot put it down. It's like it's glued to your hands. For a week I carried that book almost everywhere I went, waiting for even a microsecond where I could sit down and read it.If you're contemplating buying this, then take my word for it. This is one of the best books I have ever read. Hurry up with that third book Phillip!
