Summary: WOW
Review: This was an amazing book. It kept me thinking for a while and I was so happy that it was only the first in a series! Lyra and her daemon made me wish that I had a daemon of my own, someone who I could never be apart from and who had to come everywhere with me. The characters in the book were so well described and so interesting that I remember dreaming about them every night and predicting what would happen next. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys reading...period! You will find yourself thinking about the characters non-stop and will be influenced greatly by Lyra's wonderful adventure.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: This book was very good, and it was suspensful until the very end. Very good, and entertaining, and easy to read. A wonderful fantasy that will keep you begging for more.

Summary: Superb!
Review: Superb book! Pullman develops his universe as well as his characters fully and puts the reader in a splendid fantasy world. The ending (don't worry, I won't give it away) is somewhat of a cliffhanger, but the Subtle Knife continues where this book left off. I would recommend this book to anyone of any age--- its thats good!

Summary: Good book!
Review: I really liked the book! It left my dying to know what was going to happen next. And I still haven't read the sequel to it. It's a magical book and also a mystery. I recommend it to around 11 and up because I read it when I was 11 and I still thought it was good. If you are thinking about buying this book, let me tell you this: It is really good!

Summary: I really loved the book, but he forgot the ending
Review: I absolutely adored this book but you have to take it in little gulps(becuase its so dark and heretical), and it has a hang off ending almost as if . DON'T WORRY I WON'T TELL YOU THE ENDING. Phillip Pullman seemed to reach the end and then think "Hey, this is getting pretty long. I could make this into a trilogy." However I strongly recomend it except once you read this book you will have to read the Subtle Knife and the Amber Spy Glass(coming out next may). It is still a great book and I would recommend it but only if you can stand the heresy.

Summary: Potential butchered
Review: The plot starts off really slow. It does eventually develop into a good and exciting book. In fact I was thinking I really liked the book despite the beginning, until I got to the end. The book ends with a sad, pointless, dispicable ending. It just made me mad that such good potential could be butchered in such a terrible way. I'm returning the book.

Summary: INCREDIBLE!
Review: This book is one of the best I've ever read! I love the concept of deamons and how they change. Lyra (And Pan of course!) is/are just too cool! Her spunk, emontional strugles, and clever twisted ideas give the story it's excitment. The concept about Dust, elementary particles, the anthilometer and parrell worlds is so fasinating. I have only one regret about this book- I read the 2nd book first by accident! (But now the Subtle Knife makes much more sense! (-:) This a great read for anyone!

Summary: A really good book
Review: The Golden Compass has a really good storyline. Any Sci-Fi/Fantasy reader will enjoy it. The sequel, The Subtle Knife, is better. I can't wait for Amber Spyglass, the third book.

Summary: The Golden Compass is really GOLDEN!
Review: The Golden Compass is a supreme story. The plot is very smooth and you'll never get bored of any of the scenes. The pace of the book is relatively fast and you'll never stay on a subject very long. This book is a must-read. So, if you like sweet fantasy stories this is the perfect book for you. If you like this book, you're going to have to read its sequel, The Subtle Knife, another thrilling fantasy!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A MUST Read!
Review: I have read several Pullman books, and this is his best book yet! The plot is intricate and fascinating. Even if you don't like fantasy, you'll like this book. I loved the Harry Potter book, and THE GOLDEN COMPASS is much better. All my friends at school read this book, and everyone liked it! I've already read THE SUBTLE KNIFE, and I can't wait for THE AMBER SPYGLASS!
