Summary: An Awesome Event!!
Review: In this unfortunate event, the Baudelaire orphans are sent to boarding school. But this boarding is very strict with all sorts of complicated rules and restrictions. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are called names like Orphans from the Shack by Carmelita, a mean, nasty, and rude person. They meet their new coach by the name of Coach Genghis, which of course is the Baudelaires' worst enemy, Count Olaf. The V. Principal plays the violin making the most horrible sounds and he thinks he is a talented musician. The coach makes them run at night so they would get so tired that they would not be able to do their exams and take notes. But luckily they have friends. The Quagmires but only 2 of 3 are alive. One of them was killed with their parents. The Baudelaires and the Quagmires are both orphans as they think to find out what Count Olaf is up to get the Baudelaire fortune. The Quagmires have a fortune too as well. Will Violet, Klaus, and Sunny and the Quagmires be able to find out Count Olaf's next plan? Is Count Olaf going to escape once more? Read the fifth awesome book from the series.

Summary: Another Great One to read while Waiting for Harry Potter V
Review: I started reading these books as was suggested them while waiting for Harry Potter V. No they don't have magic or wizardry in them but they do have a constant villian in the form of Count Olaf!He is always trying to steal the orphans fortune and Violet, Sunny, and Kraus are mostly on their own in trying to stay out of his clutches as the people around them never recognize Count Olaf and his henchman till it is almost too late. This book takes a new direction in the series as they meet a new set of orphans the Quagmire triplets who become their comrade in arms against the dasterdly Count Olaf! I am long over 12 years old but have enjoyed reading all the way to book 5 already. It is a quick read for adults but a book you will remember for a while. For children it is a great way to build vocabulary as he has a habit of using big words but always defines them in a fun way!

Summary: Hmmm, I don't know if I'd recommend this for 4-6th grade...
Review: There have certainly been a lot of cloying children's novels written in which the juvenile subjects are just too lucky and happy to be true, somehow protected from all the unpleasant events of the wicked world. And this whole series of books certainly is an exception to that rule, wickedly clever and often funny. That being said, it really can be kind of disturbing to read about all these terrible things happening to these blameless children. True, that's pretty much the way real life frequently goes. These are not just campy disaster fests, though, which might be important if you're thinking of giving these books to a sensitive child. (IMHO, "Lemony Snicket" will eventually turn out to be Stephen King. Remember, you read it here first. ;))

Review: I picked out this book becuase I have read the first and second and thought those were excellent, assuming that this one would also be as good or even better.I have read it and am now giving a review of such a funny, educating, and exciting book. Lemony Snicket is an great author of making things sound extremely obvious and also has a hilarious way of explaining his definitons of difficult words. What made me pick up this book in the first place? It is the way that the author makes you think that this book means trouble and if you cannot handle the "children's misfortunes", then drop this book and pick up another one. That was what got me started.
The characters in this book are amsuing themselves! We have three orphan children named Violet, Claus, and Sunny. Violet is the oldest and invents gagdets to usually bring them out of their misfortunes. Claus is the middle brother and he reads books and has his on library in his head. Sunny the youngest of all is still a baby and uses her four sharp teeth to bite her way out of trouble.
This book is a excllent book that I have read and I am sure to love the other books too. I have given this book five stars becuase I enjoyed every moment of it, from when they first entered the Austere Academy to the time where they revealed Coach Genghis's true identity. My favorite part was when the orphans found out a way to study for a test and make staples for Sunny all night. Laughs from the beginning to even the treacherous and sad ending, the orphans are in real jeopardy every single school day!

Summary: Superb for all ages
Review: If you have read the Snicket books to this point, you will be thrilled with the change beginning in number five. While the first few books were enjoyable, the formula became dull by number four. However, the author employs a new device and introduces two new characters in the fifth book. The series brightens once more, and continues to get better and better. Don't start reading the series from five on--you'll be happy you read at least the first two before delving into number five.

Summary: The best in the series
Review: This is probably the funniest one in the series. Due to the reviews, you may have guessed this was a good one. This one brings a whole new turn to the series. At first, the series may have seemed dull and a little out of place, but from this one one the series gets better. Note: this is an important book in the series, even though its a later book in the series, this probably another good book to start with ( besides the first) if you want to read the whole collection.

Summary: The Austere Academy
Review: The Austere Academy features, again, the Baudelaire children - Violet, Klaus, and Sunny. In this adventure, they attend a school that is dull and depressing with a vice principal who dons pigtails and plays the violin horribly. And once again, they encounter the last person they always would want to see - Count Olaf. The Baudelaires must suffer through the unfortunes once again with the help from the Quagmire triplets. Will they be able to be Count Olaf? Lemony Snicket has created such an addictive series, I hope there'll be more in the future. The Austere Academy will please.

Summary: In the hands of Nero
Review: the Baudelairs have to go to a boarding school. The principal Nero thinks hes a genius and he thinks hes the best violinist. A new P.E teacher is hired and his name is Coach Genghis. The baudelaires thinks its Count Olaf. He has a turban covering his one eyebrow and expensive running shoes covering his eye on his ankle. Of course nobody believes the baudelaires. The Baudelaires make some new friends. Their names are Duncan and Isadora Quagmire. Klaus has a teacher that is obsessed with measurments. his name is Mr. Bass. Violet has a teacher that eats bannanas all through class and tells boring stories. Sunny has to be Nero's assistant. She has to make her own staples. They have to attend Nero's concerts that last 6 hours. Coach Genghis is making the Baudelairs do S.O.R.E for 10 days in a row. They are so tired that they start flunking class. they have to have a test at the end and they past it but they caught the baudelairs cheating so they got expelled. Then they find out that Coach Genghis is really Count Olaf and he escapes for the 5th time.

Summary: A Thrilling Tale
Review: One of the reasons I liked the book is because you never know what will happen next. Lemony Snicket has a humorous writing style that is appealing. Even in the terrible situation the Baudelaires find themselves in at the Austere Academy, you have to laugh at Carmelita Spats and her word "cakesniffers" which Mr. Poe finds appealing because it reminds him of pastry. We know that she is a rude, violent and filthy girl, but as usual, Mr. Poe doesn't get it. The addition of the Quagmire triplets was great. The Baudelaires finally get some friends, and we know we will see them again in future books. Count Olaf finds them again, but the orphans prevail again. Poor Sunny is forced to do secretarial work ( how ridiculous is that?) Where does he come up with these ideas? I hope he continues.

Summary: A Great Book
Review: Out of all the series of Unfortunate Events Novels, the fifth one, The Austere Academy, is one of the most impotant books. If you have read the others, you will know how the Buidlaires became orphans, when their parents died in a fire. You will also know about their fortune which Count Olaf is trying to steal. Count Olaf is a greedy villian who has a crew of members assisting him. They will stop at nothing to get the Buidlaire fortune.
In this book the Buadlaire orphans ,Violet, Klause, and Sunny, will meet some new friends at their new school, the Quagmire triplets. The Quagmire triplets will be important throughout the next few books. Count Olaf will be back!!!!!
