Rating: Summary: A 15-Year-Old Who Would Like To Share Some Comments... Review: Oh! I hate Count Olaf!! I hope he gets caught, and even though I know that he won't get his hands on the fortune, he comes so close that it's scary!! Oh dear!! Oh dear!! Oh dear!! I would also like to say that the Bauldaire children are very smart and I just want to slap Mr. Poe upside the head for not believing them, even though they always end up being right!! I can't wait for the next book, because this one left me clamoring for more!!
Rating: Summary: The Austere Academy Review: This is a GREAT book! Out of all the the books by Limony Snicket that is the best.It kinda leaves you handing at the end before their friends are captured they yell V.F.D. and the Baudelaires say before they dy they will find out what they ment. It's the best book I ever read and I can't wait til the 6th.
Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING !! Review: "Outstanding" is a term which, when used heremeans"really, good, great, entertaining - and more than initiallymeets the eye." Be sure to read the dedications - and as thevolumes continue: what, if anything, did Cout Olaf have to do withBeatrice? Why is the writer "compelled" to write this tale?I am sure the answers to these questons will be revealed as the sagacontinues... For me, money very well-spent for an entertaining,well-written, totally-original two hour read. Those of you who haveread the books will understand the structure of my first sentence.
Rating: Summary: This book is the best Review: This book is one of my favorite books. It has suspense, mystery, humor and everything you would want a book to have. In this one Sunny Klaus and Violet are sent to a boarding school. The headmaster makes Sunny work as an administrative worker and Violet's teacher tells stories (boring ones) and Klaus's teacher makes them measure things. But they meet some friends. And later Count Olaf (under a different name) comes into the story. This book is just as excellent as the rest and I recommend it to everyone. But do not read it if you don't like suspense. This book ends leaving you hanging.
Rating: Summary: Not so good for a collector. Review: This author's books are compared to Edward Gorey's; Gorey has an adult following. I realize these books are printed for the (children's) story rather than the artwork (unlike Gorey's books), but I believe the author tries to appeal to adult collectors as well as to young readers. As an adult hoping for an amusing and tame but macabre read, I was disappointed in his series. The author enjoys his own sense of humor very much; I can't say the same for the reader. My question is, how many times will he keep rehashing the same plot, with the same unfunny villain? Even the kids are going to catch on and grow tired of the same mediocre story appearing over and over. This is not an author who crosses over into the world of adult reading, much as he tries.
Rating: Summary: GOOD! Review: I like this book a lot although THE WIDE WINDOW was better, I thought. I guess I was just a little diappointed because no one died in this book. I guess that's a little cruel, but that's what I think. If you have not read any of the other books in this series, DO. It would probably be very hard to understand this book if you hadn't read any of the others. Besides, they're all really good and teach younger kids new vocabulary (like austere!). And, as probably expected, Count Olaf has yet again mastered the art of disguise. It just always disappoints me that the Baudelaires know IMMEDIATELY who the villian is, which is not fair. Well, that's what I have to say.
Rating: Summary: holy s***! Review: This man is one of the most gifted authors in the world! he some of the most funny material I have ever read in my life! lemony snicket knows just how to make the Baudelaire orphans' guardians annoying enough to shoot with a gun! This one aspect of the book that makes it so terrific! It feels like your in the story when you read the book. you want to go into the book and smack Mr.Poe upside the head. At the end of the book I was itching to know what the secret of VFD was! I can't wait until the next book, The Ersatz Elevator, comes out! any amount of time is to long to wait before I read the next book ! Note: It helps a sense of maturity when reading the books or most of the funniest jokes would fly right over your head.
Rating: Summary: So droll, so delicious Review: I love these books, and they just get better with each installment. This one's got a cliffhanger to keep you hooked. Maybe with No. 6 we will find out who Count Olaf is, and maybe Beatrice too.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful; enchanting! Review: I love the ways Lemony describes the Orphan House, and the violin concert! He has a beautiful way of weaving together mystery and sadness at the same time. I think he should write more volumes as well as other books. Count Olaf's treachery is so real; you can almost feel him taking revenge. If you think all grown-ups should be sensible, and not listen to the children until the last minute; and if you like happy endings; and if you hate child abuse; and if you dispise a terrible man--this is not the book for you. (-:
Rating: Summary: Horrible, How can people read such horrible books Review: That is the worst display of childrens lituture I've ever seen. It made me cringe and almost vomit. It is not fitting for anyone above being born. If you want to read a good book read Holes, by Louis Sacher. He, unlike L. Snicket knows how to write a good book. I hope this review is helpful because I am just trying to help the good old American consumer. You might want to listen to me , for no matter how harsh I sound I'm just trying to help. Thank you for your time.
