Rating: Summary: One of the most honest books about growing up. Review: When I was younger, I read Are You There, God... many, many times. It is an excellent book for girls because it deals with the issues that EVERY young girl is concerned with, even obsessed with. Margaret is a very realistic sixth-grader who's worried about boys, her body, and choosing a religion. Any girl, age 10-13 or so, would be able to relate to Margaret's concerns and should read this book.
Rating: Summary: About a girl and growing up Review: I thought the book was mostly about a girl going through having her period and getting bras and that sort of stuff. I liked the way it talked about having periods and things like that.
Rating: Summary: it could have been better Review: this book was ok yes it was about this girl deciding religion but it kinda side tracked on other things like starting her period! Thats what could have been left out and i think the book could have been better but it didnt make me fall asleep and it was short enough to be sorda good
Rating: Summary: I love this book! Review: If you are looking for a book for your 5th or 6th grader this is It
Rating: Summary: This book is really great, I read it over and over again!! Review: I thought this book was fantastic! I always read it over and over. I thought all Margaret's feelings were really deep and descriptive. I wish I was that motivated to talk to god and go along with every thing your friends do.I usually get bored, so I read!!
Rating: Summary: A must have! Review: I've read this book over 15 times and it still amazes me! I loved this book the first time I read it and I love it more each time it's in my hands!
Rating: Summary: READ IT IF YOU WANNA KNOW Review: THIS BOOK WAS THE FIRST BOOK I READ BY JUDY BLUME AND IF YOU ASK ME I THINK IT'S EXCELLENT.I REALLY LOVED IT .I EVEN READ IT FOR 5 TIMES AND NEVER GOT BORED OF IT.IN THIS STORY MARGARET IS GOING TO BE 12 SOON AND DOESN'T NOW ANYTHING THAT WOULD PHYSICALY HAPPEN TO HER.AND DOESN'T KNOW HOW HER BODY WILL CHANGE BY GROWING...........IT BETTER BE A PHASE SHE'S GOING THROUGH OR.................(IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU READ THE BOOK BY YOUR SELF!)
Rating: Summary: A frank look at growing up...not at all obscene. Review: I read this book as a twelve year old in the 80's, and it made me feel more comfortable with adolescence, to see that I was not the only one with the same questions I had. It is an eye-popping book, even with today's standards, and yes, I would buy a copy for my daughter. If you wish to keep your daughter in the dark about changes her mind and body are going through, don't buy this book.
Rating: Summary: ONE of Blumes Best Review: A very interesting and fun book I liked this book very much. It is about a 6th grade girl, Margret, who is moving to the suberbs. She makes some new friends and all but is not quite sure why they are into developing so much. This book has a lot about girls growing up. I think it has a little too much about the girls body. Margret is having a lot of trouble desiding what religon she wants to be. Everyone is forcing her to pick one and she is getting very agreivated. It all works out in the end though, she even gets her period as she was hoping. All and All a very good book for young teens.
Rating: Summary: A great book for preteens Review: This book is a great book for girls who are growing up. It tells about Margaret's true feelings, and it helps you realize that you're not the only worried teenage girl about "girl stuff."
