Rating: Summary: This book is not realistic Review: "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret", in my opinion, is an unrealistic study of a pubescent girl. It seems obsolete and dull and the issues described are not personal and truthful. I am 13, and know what these things are like. I can't relate to the characters and their instabilities. I myself do not attend church and have never experienced problems similar to those Margaret endured. The young girls in the story are foolish and very tense about maturing. I can imagine real people to be somewhat like them, but no people my age I know. I find soothing books to be fantasy, not books about a foolish girl's problems.
Rating: Summary: A must-read book for all kids! Review: This book is so great i don't know how many times i read it. it's about margaret, a girl who has a jewish dad and a christian mom and they don't practice any religion at home. even so, margaret's not an atheist and she speaks to god as if he's her best friend. to me it's funny and a bit sad.
Rating: Summary: Helped me thru early adolescence Review: What a wonderful book! Back in the mid 70's, it was MUST reading for every girl I knew! Highly Recommended!
Rating: Summary: This book is great for girls who are growing up! Review: This book is a great book for girls from the age of about 10-13. It really tells what it is like to start growing up. You really feel what the characters are feeling. It talks about how much the characters care about what people think about them and how they deal with it. It is a great book!
Rating: Summary: a book that touched me a generation ago Review: I hope this doesn't put off the young girls who are reading this book now but judging from the other comments, it would appear that things haven't really changed at all. I read this book when I was a pre-teen (I'm 38 now) and it totally spoke for how I was feeling and how I viewed my world at the time. I'm not surprised at the classic it's become.
Rating: Summary: A realy wonderfull book Review: Are you there god it is me Margret is a wonderfull book about girls groing up. It deals with subjects that I found a great thing to write about. I loved this book!
Rating: Summary: I loved this book. Review: It helped me realize I am not the only pre-teen girl who is worried about having her period, bras and boys. I would definetly give this book five stars.I recommend this book for girls ages 9-14 because Margaret goes through the same things a normal girl would.
Rating: Summary: I love this book so much!! I have read it 3 times. Review: This book is about a girl who is new in a neighborhood and dosn't know what religion to be..This is a great book!!
Rating: Summary: This is such an awesome book! Review: This is such a great book for girls that are growing up. I think every girl ages 11-14 should read and reread this book. Judy Blume did a good job of getting girls attentions! I think every girl thinks about the same thing Margaret thinks about. All those girl questions. It was a very funny and interesting book!
Rating: Summary: Honest, witty, addictive Review: "Are you there God......"happens to be one of my all time favourite books.Having spent a large part of my childhood reading Enid Blyton, when I first read this book at the age of 11 I was delighted for it was so deliciously honest, identificable and realistic, I was hooked. Now I am 16 and have moved to more literally enriching books but every year I read this book and think about the time I was 12.This book has something that even great literary classics don't,it has heart.Thank you Judy Blume!!
