Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Incredible! Review: Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, a young author, has outdone herself here. I loved it from the beginning to the end. She creates a beautiful world with believable characters, and never leaves you a dull moment. With suspense, romance, and an amazing environment, one can't help but identify with the honest and selfless characters while they struggle to end a war that has ravaged both rival tribes by doing the impossible...
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: very captivating Review: I bought this book on impulse because I thought the concept behind it would be more than interesting. By far this is the best of Amelia Atwater-Rhodes's books. The characters are real and emotional, not flat like in some of her previous books. The plot is well developed, only giving the necessary details. I absolutely loved this book, but the ending felt rushed. Just when you feel you're getting to the best part, it's over. All in all, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone. In this book you realize that the author is really maturing in her style and character development. They just get better with each book. Zane and Danica are the best characters she's created, and I highly doubted she would ever top Aubrey. So go buy this book, you won't regret it!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Good Review: Ms. Atwater-Rhodes did a very smart thing when she published this book: she got away from the vampires. Not that I didn't like her previous books. I just think it wise of her to stop writing about the same thing because if she didn't she'd probably be stuck writing vampire tales for the rest of her career, and she can do so much more. Hawksong is the story of Danica, princess of the avian shapeshifters, and Zane, prince of the serpentine shapeshifters, and their desperate attempt to make peace. The avians and the serpentine have been warring for so long that no one really remembers the cause, but hate still abounds, and blood still flows every day. Both Zane and Danica wish to stop it, but they do not know how--until Zane sends and emissary suggesting that they meet in the neutral Mistari lands and try to come to a peace agreement. Danica Shardae is an avain, capable of shifting into the form of a bird--in her case, a hawk. She is the only surviving child of her mother, for all the other have been killed, most recently her younger brother. Although she hates the serpentine and all they stand for, Danica agrees to meet them in the neutral lands of the Mistari and try to work out a peace agreement. Zane Cobriana is the prince of the serpentine. His natural form is a corbra, and his eyes are the garnet of the Cobriana line. He, too, would do anything for peace. His brother was killed in the same battle that killed Danica's brother. In fact, it was Danica who knelt beside his brother and sang to him as he died, to ease the pain and make sure he did not die alone. It is Zane who suggests the peace summit, and he is determined to make it work. Niether of them, however, expect the Mistari's mad suggestion: that the two of them marry. Both immediately reject it, of course, but when it becomes evident that it may be the only way, they begin to consider it; and in time, agree to it. Still, all is not well. Danica fears Zane and the cobra he can become, while Zane feels he could never love a woman with feathers in her hair. The serpentine are open with their emotions, so Zane mistakes Danica's reserve for hate. And both of them cannot trust the other. And there are assassins in their midst, people who would stop at nothing to see the tentative peace fail, and turn into war again... I liked this book. The romance seemed authentic, not forced, and the hate was real. The fantasy was well desribed; the world Atwater-Rhodes created is well grounded. The plea for peace was touching, and the plot kept me glued to my seat. The chapters were of a decent length and the breaks were tolerable. However, the book has its flaws. Some of Zane's come-ons seem a bit untoward, and Danica's fear seems irrational. Zane also reminded me of one of Atwater-Rhodes' vampires, with his teeth ready to sink into her throat and his black hair and hypnotic eyes. I also was a bit annoyed with the ending; she seemed to rush it. Still, it was a good book. The song about peace was inspiring, and the part about trust really showed what she can do if she tries. I just hope she keeps on writing the way she did here--although, since Snakecharm is only 170 pages, I have my doubts. All in all, a good fantasy. Keep it up, Ms. Atwater-Rhodes!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: One word... Moving Review: This was one of Amelia Atwater-Rhodes best books ever. She was almost very thorough with the story, the reason I say tht is because the end left me wanting more as have all her other books (In The Forests Of The Night, Demon In My View, Shattered Mirror, and Midnight Predator), but this one left me wanting even more. Amelia's works have progress and changed in so many ways that they have each been better than the one before. Her writing to me is very moving, well coming from a 16 yr. guy who's fantasy and imagination are limitless, that I am in a state of mind that is craving even more. I can't wait for her next book Snakecharm to come out because with each of her books comes an even better adventure and story. Keep Up the work Amelia Atwater-Rhodes.

In Hawksong, Danica Shardae (avian princess) enters a marriage with Zane Cobriana (the serpiente prince) to commence peace between their two worlds.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I couldn't believe it! Review: I thought this book was so well written, the characters and situations so well drawn, that the authour must have been well up in age. I almsot cried when I read the back cover and found out that Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is only 2 years older than I am, and has such an amazing writing ability. As a young writer myself, I often find it difficult to capture characters personalities, especially when writing fantasy, because there is a fine line between being emotional and descriptive, and being cheesy. This novel is anything but cheesy.I read this book over a period of two days and found it to be a wonderful tale, there was romance, action, and mystery, and I suggest you begin reading this story as soon as you find a copy!
