Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A Dramatic Diary Review: What a great book! It Happened To Nancy is a real eye opener. A true diary, this is a book about a young girl who falls desperately head over heels in love for a college student. After treating her like a princess for a few weeks, he gets her drunk, rapes her, and leaves her infected with the HIV virus! She keeps this diary and you learn of how she rebuilds and moves past this tramatic experience. I would definately say this is a guaranteed tear jerker. I cared for this girl more and more with every page. Since it is written by a teenager, it can be well understood on a teenage level. My heart really went out to this young girl and I know if you read it, yours will too.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: It Can Happen Review: It Happened to Nancy was a great book based on a true story. I liked the story because it shows how easy it is for someone to get AIDS. Ever since Nancy falls in love with Collin, is raped, and gets AIDS, your heart reaches out to her. You realize that Nancy thought Collin was so special that she didn't take the proper precaution into finding out who he really was, which many girls today do. One charachter that I really enjoyed was Lew. He became Nancy's boyfriend and stayed her boyfriend even when he found out that she had AIDS. His commitment to not have sex was so strong that you come to admire his maturity. One part of the book I enjoyed reading was the time Nancy spent at her Aunt Thelma's house. It was a calming enviroment for Nancy, which made the book less depressing to read during her time there. The author's writing style was both good and bad. The diary format helps you get close to the charachters, but it was also confusing to read in that format. Nancy was part of a divorced situation and when you were reading, it was hard to figure out where she was. If your looking for a truthful and inspiring book about AIDS, this is a great book for you. The last few pages of the book are filled with questions and answers about AIDS. If you get depressed easily this may not be the right book for you, do to the pain and hardships Nancy goes through, such as her urinary problem. It Happened to Nancy is an appropriate book for girls thirteen and up, and especially those in serious relationships.J.Gilmore
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: It can happen to you! Review: It Happened to Nancy was one of the best books we have ever read. This book was based on a true story of a young girl and her struggle through AIDS. We liked this book because it shows how careful you should be in our everyday world, like not talking to strangers or inviting unfamiliar faces into your house. This book connects with us because it deals with everyday life of a teenager. A character we liked was Nancy because during her struggle she stayed upbeat and happy, although she had a lot to deal with. We enjoyed the parts of the story where Lew and Nancy were togheter because it made Nancy forget about all her problems. We liked Nancys writing style because in her diary not only is she writing to herself, but also to the world, and showing how the problem affected her life and how her advice can save you. We recommend this book to females ages 12 and up.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Love or Lust Review: We really enjoyed reading this book. We liked it because it was so real and could easily relate to you or your friends. Any girl could get Drunk and raped and go through the same thing as Nancy. Her Friends all cared deeply about her too and that all seemed so real. (Like it was our friends!!) Her friend Dorie was pregnant and gave up her baby like many teenagers would. After Collin met, became loved by, and then raped Nancy, he left and abandoned her. "Collin" was only a made up name. We know this because in the book the police and detectives couldn't find anyone by the name of Collin who could have done this. Another reason we liked this book so much is because it closely relates to us and something that happened to a good friend of ours a little over a year ago.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Nancy's Not So Neutral Life Review: It Happened to Nancy was a very intriguing book. It is a combination of romance, suspense, and very unexpecting events. I would definantly recommend this book to teenage girls thirteen years old and up. One of the scenes I enjoyed in the book was when Collin and Nancy made a picnic basket and rode out to an island. I thought that was very romantic. I feel this book is realistic and can easily connect to the readers. To find out more you'll just have to read it for yourself.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: It Can't Happen To Me Review: We thought the book, It Happened to Nancy, was very heartwarming. However, at times, the book had its down fall. Nancy was an excellent writer, but she liked to drag things out. In the beginning she was very happy with her life and throughout the book she would go from being lively to dull. This book would be perfect for anyone struggling through a hard time and needs an extra hand to pick them up. At times it gets quite sappy and we feel bad for her. Then at other times, she would do such courageous things that would make us just want to shake her hand! Nancy wanted to deliver the message about how she thought that she could never catch the AIDs virus either, but then something terrible happened. She wrote in her diary all the time and after the tragedy it was published and made into this book. Overall, it was okay.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Battleing AIDS Review: It Happened To Nancy is a very good book. It's a true story written by an anonymous teenager. It is extremely detailed and it made us visualize the events. One of the best characters was Lewis Fullmark, Nancy's boyfriend. Lew was very loving and understanding. He kept Nancy's hopes up convincing her she was worth living. The best parts are when her friends visit her when she's away. This book has some really sad parts. We recommend this book to girls ages 13 and up.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Loving Stupidity Review: Pity and sorrow comes to my heart as I read this book. The fear that poeple now actually do things in this book, strikes me influentially and hope that this would never happen to anyone else. No one deserves this pain and torment. My tittle review isn't suppose to hurt anyone or offend. The meaning of "Loving Stupidity" is how Nancy fell in love with a man who had no intension of loving her as much as she intended to him.As I read this book, hate and rage fill my heart, mind, body, and soul. The words of this young girl isn't adult like, and that's what she wasn't,an adult.I understand why this book of the life of a young teens diary was published, to help and educate about the facts of love, rape,& aids. And most of all death of an angel.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A Touching Story... Review: It Happened to Nancy is a touching story that every teenage girl should read. It shows you that you are not the only one that goes through things such as rape or AIDS. Nancy was a very brave girl who should have had the chance to live. I love how this book shows that she was confused and needed help because most of us do. The questions and answers at the end of the book were very helpful.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Heart breaking story Review: This book takes the reader on a horrific journey about HIV, otherwise known as AIDS. It begins with a girl named Nancy writing happy thoughts about a boy named Collin to a nightmare talking about what this boy did to her. This girl's journey shows all these emotions people could really relate to because as we're reading, we almost feel like it is us this is happening to. The narrator uses great description and the book is really hard to put down. It is a journey readers will really get caught up in. Readers willl laugh, cry, and sympathize with this girl, because she is taking a journey no fifteen year old deserves to take.
