On the back of the cover it reads, "Reading this true story may save your life." It is very true. This book teaches teens and their parentsto be more aware of the incurable disease. I would rate this book a five. I never got bored with this book. It is an excellent real life example of what can really happen to you, especially if you have the idea, "Oh, AIDS can never happen to me." The main character in this book, Nancy, shows you what it is like dealing with AIDS in your social and physical life. A must-read for teenagers, especially for the young teenage girls. An important, sad lesson which everyone needs to be taught.

It has taught me a lot of information that I could use when I get older. I also liked this book, because it is from a teens point of view and I am a teen that could relate to her. She sounds like she has been through a lot of struggles and I understand what she was going through. I mean, the stuff that happened to Nancy, has never happened to me, but I can imagine what she was going through in her rough times. I think everyone should take time out and read this book.

Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: It DIDN'T happen to Nancy ... Review: I believe this book isn't true. Why? Because although AIDS effects each persons' body differently, she would not known that fast that she had it. (In the book she gets sick about a week after being infected) Plus the doctor couldn't just give her an HIV test like that. He'd have to ask for her permission first. And she wouldn't get the results that soon. There's more & if you read this book carefully you realize all the holes in this un-true story.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Both upsetting and uplifting Review: I wish this were a fiction book, I really do. This diary of a 14 year old girl who was not only raped but left with the HIV virus is gut-wrenching. This poor girl had her life taken away from her before it really ever started. The fact that it's a true story makes it all the harder to read. I felt so bad for Nancy and was close to tears more than a few times during the course of the book. She goes from depression to happiness, trying to fight off the Virus, and sometimes even mentally convincing herself she can do it, other times she just wants to die. It's a look into the mind of a young teenage girl that has to go through something noone at any age deserves to go through. Her budding romance with a different boy her age was probably the hardest to read, as both she and I knew her talk of growing old with him and having his children, whould never happen, since some older guy decided to rape her. I feel for Nancy, and anyone else going through the same situation, this book was a real eye-opener. This book isn't just for teenage girls either, I'm a 24 year old guy and still found this book to be an excellent experience. Do yourself a favor and read this book, you'll be a better person because of it.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Really good and educational Review: This book was really good. I was at my cousin's house looking for things to read, and I saw this on her shelf. I couldn't put it down! Everything is so real and relational, which it should be anyway since this was a diary. Anyway, it started out a little bit slow, but it got very good. I would suggest this book to people above age 13, since any younger than that may be too sensitive towards the things that this book talks about.

He's 18, charming, smart, cute, and treats her with respect... or so she thinks. When she's attacked and raped on a date her life falls apart. She's affected with HIV, AIDS. At first she dosen't know how to deal but soon, with the help of her family and friends she learns to deal with it as best she can. How will she reacts as more and more problems develope? It happend to Nancy is a beautiful true story about AIDS and learning to look on the brighter side of things. I read it for school and was happily surprised on how good it was. I'll be sure to read more diaries like this edited by Dr. B and I reccomend that others do to.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Unexpected Review: The story It Happened to Nancy is a very good book. I am one of the many that read the book and enjoyed it. An anonymous teenager who thought she had everything she would ever want or dream of writes the book. She had fallen in love with a mature college student, Collin, and he treated her with respect and Nancy trusted in him completely. Collin was what she thought was "perfect." After he knew she trusted in him fully he date-raped her and left her infected with the HIV virus. The book is in diary form. She writes daily about her emotions and feelings towards having the virus. She also writes how hard it is to tell her friends about her having AIDS but she realize that her friends are one of a kind and that they will understand her. I started reading the book because a friend told me it was a good book and it is easy to read. I said to myself, "great, an eleven point book and it is easy to follow," but as I was reading the book it came across that anyone could be a Nancy.
