Rating: Summary: it was a great story and it made me think about having sex. Review: In my opinion it was a grat book, and I think every one should read it before they decided to have sex. I read this book and it made me relize that thigs like that can happen to just anyone, and that it ust dosn't happen to promiscuous people. I went to a Garth Brooks concert and i had read the book about 2 years before, and I had completly forgot about it until he sang the song " Red Strokes" I rten became a little scared and stuck to my boyfriends arm and remembered. I was soo glad he was there, because it makes you wonder if "Nancy" had someone like that there would she still be alive today? It's a shame she had to go in that way, but atleast her story has touched me and a lot of other people and made us realize just how precious life is, and not to alwys take the chance of putting it in danger. I'm not saying that she did, but she did take a chance of going somewhere with an un-known man, and that wasn't entirely her fault what happend between them. I just wanted to say what a great book this is and I am honored to say that she rally touched my life and helped me fix my " chances" of living another day.
Rating: Summary: Inspirational Review: This book was great to show how a person with a fatal disease looks past her death and lives life to its fullest. I really admire the girl that wrote the diary. It would be awful to find a person that you think that you love but leaves you with a fatal disease. Read this book if you want to try and uplift your own life.
Rating: Summary: Putting myself in her shoes Review: I rarely get books that are diaries from other people, but something caught my eye when I went to purchase books for my vacation. I'm 15 years old so in a lot of ways I could relate to "Nancy". I know people that I go to school with with AIDS/HIV and we've talked about it in school, but I never really knew the ins and outs of the deathly disease. This book was a book that was extremely hard to put down, and I think that every teenage girl should read it, because I can definitely relate to her feelings about falling in love with an older guy and the feeling of doing anything for them no matter what. I really loved this book.
Rating: Summary: Dangerous, Irresponsible, A lying scare-tactic Review: This is not the way AIDS works. Either this book is a total work of fiction and/or she was killed by AZT. Protecting oneself from rape or other consequences of mis-behavior is important--other than that, this book is irresponsibly dangerous for its inaccurate message. I would like to rate the book negative stars. I am unable to recommend a book that is simplistic, yet truthful.
Rating: Summary: Ive learned more from a book then from class... Review: This book not only touched my heart...but hit home.Ive seen a few people die from HIV but all they really wanted was to live, but thats the least they were getting. This book tells about that and how the girl only wanted to live and tried to help the other girl Margie so she wouldnt have to end up where Nancy HAD to end up just because "throw-up"("collin") wanted to take advantage of her and make her suffer like he had to. It was mean and cold hearted and i hate him so much it makes me cry to think about it..this is a great book and everyone and anyone willing to learn what it's truely like...then you should read this book.
Rating: Summary: It shows teens why they should do what there parents say. Review: My eighth grade class read it and was very shocked on how it was because it is almost down to earth other than being at a Garth Brooks Concert. AMS
Rating: Summary: It is an eye opener to teenagers who think there in love. Review: I thought that this book was remarkalbe. I had read it for a book report thinking it was going to be boring but as i read more into it; it actually turned out to be my favorite so far. As I read about Nancy and the trouble she faced finding out that the guy she thought would be forever turn up to be the one she disliked. When i got to the part were she started to get sick, then went to the doctors then she found out that she had the hiv virus I was shocked. It made me think about life in general. I think all teenagers should read this book cause if it open one teenagers eye it can open alot more
Rating: Summary: this was a magnificent book!!! Review: It Happened to Nancy Was one of the greatest, and saddest books I've ever read.I reccomend it to anyone who is interested in these types of books, have been raped, hurt by someone you love, or has aids.
Rating: Summary: Ultimatly, the best book I ever read!! Review: This book has a great but tragic story. Not for emotional readers, very intense!!
Rating: Summary: My opinion on "It Happened to Nancy. Review: I think this book is awesome! I just got done reading it in English class. At first I thought it would be really boring, but now It's seems like it's the best book I've read. If you like drama, like I do then you would love "It Happened To Nancy." During her first relationship with a guy she met, she thought she had fallen in love with him, but it turned out to everything but that. She had to face crutial reality about her having HIV/AIDS. Her diary was her only companion in which she wrote down her struggles, her happy times, and even the worst times of her illness. The book "It Happened to Nancy" shows a great example of reality, and the ways it can hurt you without you knowing It's even happened yet. I think you can learn a lesson by reading about Nancy with her accomplishments, and downfalls in life.
