Rating: Summary: Good Review: I love this series of books. Got hooked on them about 2 years ago. This is a vital part of the Baudelaire(sp) children's ongoing tale. Readers finally get a little needed information, like what V.F.D. (hopefully) stands for. Definatly the darkest story of the series, but teaches wonderful lessons along the way. There is still that same humor, like Sunny's translations, and i can't wait for the next book!
Rating: Summary: I KNOW THE CLUE!! Review: I love Lemony Snicket and his books, they are the best ever!!! Definetly buy this book if you've never read it (even if you have) owning it is great. READ A Series of Unfortunate Events!! But anyway on to way more important matters do you all remember the countdown calendars and the clue you got if you sent the receipt in? Well I got my clue and figured it out!!!The Clue For The Slippery Slope is: "Two will disappear and never be seen again." Very Snicketesque, and way too vague, but it'll give us something to think about until THE SLIPPERY SLOPE comes out in Fall 2003! I totally can't wait, so buy this book!!!
Rating: Summary: Lemony Snicket's best book out Review: The Carnivorous Carnival is Lemony's best book out! I have read them all and it is the best one, It has more pages but is great to read. Lemony put alot of drama in the book and surprises you with things. Warning: Not a book for people who like happy stories!
Rating: Summary: The Series Gets Stronger Review: It's easy to get burned out on these books, especially if you read them back to back, but with book #9 the author breaks with his old format just enough to make the series fun and interesting again. The tables turn in The Carnivorous Carnival as our heros must now trick Count Olaf by disguising themselves as circus freaks. The first half of the book is a riot as a result of this. The second half of the book falls back into the standared format of the VFD mystery. The ending, however, has a few twists and a nice cliffhanger of an ending. Overall, a joyfull read.
Rating: Summary: Very Dissapointing... Review: After 4 FANTASIC books (5-8), which were a BIG step up from the first half of the series, I was expecting alot from this book...UNFORTUNATLY I was greatly dissapointed. I was SO excited when this came out, and even more so that I had the advantage of getting it early, due to this years book-fair...I don't know what it was...maybe its that the whole things getting old...I mean, it's pretty much the same thing book after book...you know, they move to a new location, Count Olaf has a new disguise (or,in this case, the Baudelaires), yadda,yadda,yadda...Or it may be because awhile after reading book 8, I lost my intrest in the series and charectors, and went toward others..., well despite what happend here, I will read maybe the next 2, and see if I like them...
Rating: Summary: The Carnivorous Carnival: Count Olaf Strikes Again Review: I enjoyed this novel because it was full of action and drama. This novel is the ninth book in the Lemony Snicket series, A Series Of Unfortunate Events. The Baudelaire orphans are faced with life- threatening situations that included bloodthirsty carnivores, a wooden plank, Chabo the wolf baby, and an evil murderer named Count Olaf. All in all, the book captures attention and will have you reading for hours!
Rating: Summary: The best book in the series of unfortunate events!... Review: This book was exciting, funny, surprising, and I couldn't put it down I can't wait to read the next one.
Rating: Summary: Carnivorous Cliffhanger! Review: The first few Unfortunate Events books had nice endings...where the main plot of the book had been tied up well, and the reader (maybe just me) felt satisfied, but still wanting more, to see what would happen to the loveable Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire orphans. This book, and the last few, however, I thought had bad endings. It seems as though "Lemony Snicket" had written the most recent books all at one time and then simply cut them into parts at the most climatic scenes, to make sure that his readers would buy the next book, and the next, and the next. To be sure, I will- these ARE great books. Snicket's quirky, unique writing style appeals to me, and his storyline is interesting. The protagonists are so helpless, you just want to reach out the them, and the antagonists are so dangerous and evil, you love to hate 'em. In conclusion, I do suggest you buy this book, but not until the tenth one is available to buy. Otherwise, you might become as frustrated and bitter as I...
