Rating: Summary: Best Redwall book I have read Review: Out of all of the readwall books I have read -- Redwall, Mattimeo, Mariel of Redwall, Salamdastron, The Bellmaker and currently reading mossflower -- this one is the best. The book starts out iwth a party at redwall, while a fox named Slagar goes to redwall with other vermin dressed as circus people to kidnap all of the children, including mattimeo mathias's son. It is really cool to see where the salves go, and the end will be really exciting if you have read mossflower, or have at least passed chapter 10. The really cool thing about this book is that you get to see all of the children older, and sam actually talk, unlike in Redwall. This book is best read after you have read redwall, or mossflower since it is the sequel to redwall, and was published right after mossflower.
Rating: Summary: The best Redwall book! You gotta read it! Review: Mattimeo is definetly the best Redwall book, and forever will be. Others will try, but none can compare. It is filled with danger and suspense, humor and wit, and best of all, a whole lotta' fun! Mattimeo is one of the best Redwall heroes there will ever be. The one and only thing I did not like very much about this book, is when they get to Loamhedge. The battle is AWESOME, but the ghost-like mental picture you will get is not very impressive. ANYWAY... it is a great book to read, after you have read Redwall i would say. But...Redwall is a different review...
Rating: Summary: Drew Petty's Review Review: Mattimeo was a very interesting book. I found it even more exciting than Redwall. I've always loved Redwall and Mattimeo really opened me up to this wonderful series. When Slagar the fox captures all the little ones you feel so sorry for Matthias and the other parents and so longing to help them find the young ones. It truly is one of my favorites and is a great book to read and if you like Redwall and tales of mice, hedgehogs, squirrels, otters, shrews, and vermin then you will adore Mattimeo.
Rating: Summary: one of the best Redwall books Review: This book has a lot of action and it was fun to read. It is my favorite of the first 4 Redwall books. The battles were so exciting that I couldn't put the book down. I read this 432 page book in less than a week! I would recommend this book to all 11 year old boys!
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: To make a long story short, this book was great. What is was going to say, everyone else has already said, so i wont bother reapeting myself. If you analzye this book, you will discover striking similarities to what happend in the 2nd gulf war! But it want to know what happens to mathhatias, mattemeo, elmtail(a former slave jess squirrell adopts) other characters. brian jacques should write a book that takes place in between this and pearls of lutra.
Rating: Summary: Exellent, well planned and written Review: All that I can say is "wow" After I read Redwall, which is the first part of the redwall adventures, I was ready and prepared for Mattimeo. Brian Jacques has such an ability to create worlds, great caracters, and emotion that will leave you wanting more. He has the abilty to make such evil, and bloodthirsty vilans. If you are tired of boring fantasy's, give this a whirl. Trust me, you will not be dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: JACK Review: I'm doing a report on the book Mattimeo. It was published in1990. The aothor is Brian Jacques. He is one of my insparations to write. I think that he is one of the best writers in the world. The main characters are Mattimeo and his dad Mathias.Mathias is the Redall warior.Redwall is an abbey in a country called Mossflower. Mossflower is a big forest, and all of the creatures in it are characters.Mattimeo and Mathias are mice, but that is only one type creature. there are moles, rats, squirles, otters and many more. This wonderful novel is about an evi fox named Slagar the Cruel taking revenge on Mathias by kidnapping Mattimeo and other young redwallers to sell them as slaves, and lure Mathias out of Redwall so he can kill him slowly and paifully to show him the torture he once went through. Slagar had once battled against Mathias, and Mathias won.Mathias had burned Slagars face into a crinkled mess. It looked so horrible that he wore a mask over it. After Slagar kills Mathias by burying him alive Mattimeo solmely swears that he will kill Slagar. But is Mathias really dead?...No!Friends dig him out and join the journey. So they make new friends, and have no idea of what adventures they will go through together. After everything they all get home safe.I think the moral of this story is to never give up, and they learn to use what they have while they have it, and to give respect while they can.Mattimeo changes by becoming braver, stronger, and more obedient to his father Mathias who changes by giving more respect to Mattimeo. Mattimeo ,thebook, is one of fifteen stupendis tales of the series of Redwall.I thought this book was so wonderous because it had so many types of books put into one.It had comedy,a lot of action, and just a bit of sadness. I thought it was so good that I wish it was fifty times longer.I absolutely loved the book Mattimeo.
Rating: Summary: Rod reviews Mattimeo Review: ... .Mattimeo was one of the best books i've ever read albeit I don't read many books it is easy to see Jacques's eccelence and his well-earned place as the greatest fantasy writer of our time. Mattimeo was full of humour, poetry, song, likable characters, execitment, emotion, beautifully painted landscapes, British flavor, and of course food. The humour is well pulled off, the poetry is cool, the emotion is real, the whole book is just pretty righteous. Characters like Basil are what makes literature worth reading. Another thing, I ask you what's cooler than a huge bager with a big battle axe whose out for blood, very little. Also Jaques's vivid descriptions of food are always entertaining. The action in this book makes it an exiceting read. The book all and all was great though not without it's flaws.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Sequel Review: This book reminds me of an axiom about most trilogies: The first part is great, leading to a somewhat disappointing second part then an excellent third part in which the mistakes of the first two are eliminated or reduced. This holds true for the Redwall series thus far. This first book was fantastic. The second book does what many serial novels do by leaving me feeling as if I had missed something. I thought I had jumped into the middle of a story instead of starting at the beginning. This is compounded by the fact that it is supposed to be a prequel to the first novel. All the problems I had with the second novel are more than made up for in this one, which picks up almost two years (eight seasons) after the first book, eloquently reintroduces any recurring characters, and works into the new plot marvellously. This book could almost stand on its own as a good read with a complete beginning, middle, and end, something which most epic fantasy adventure serial novels do not do. I highly recommend this book and the entire Redwall series!
Rating: Summary: Mattimeo, the next great redwall hero? Review: In this amazing adventure, Mattimeo, son of Matthias, and his friends, is captured by Slagar the Cruel. So Matthias, Jess Squirrel, and Basil Stag Hare set of on a perilous journey to bring some of redwalls most beloved youngsters back home. Making new friends on the way and solving puzzling riddles, all while trying to save some youngns'. Meanwhile, back home, crows are invading redwall! They want to take over and have the redwallers as thier slaves. So Cornflower, Constance, and Sister May take matters into thier own paws. This book is one of the best books in the whole series.
