Rating: Summary: Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging Review: Growing up is a difficult time for most teenage girls, but for Georgia it's even worse. She's worried about her big nose, accidentally shaves off her eyebrows, and is concerned that she will grow to have one bust, like most of the women in her family. Add in her psychotic cat named Angus (the poodle stalker and destroyer of clothes), the party where she dressed as a stuffed olive, plus a family she'd like to trade in for another and you're ready to be captivated by this humorous and entertaining book. "Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging" by Louise Rennison reads like a teen version of "Bridget Jones Diary". Georgia's glossary in the back of the book defines the British words so we yanks can comprehend the slang. What is full-frontal snogging?? (Kissing with all the accessories-tongue, open mouth, you know the GOOD stuff!). This book is a must read for girls/women of all ages (adult topics are mentioned) and fortunately it's one in a series! The next in the series, "On The Bright Side, I'm now the Girlfriend of a Sex God" is just as good as the first, however, it is a little more adult in its content.
Rating: Summary: Doesn't get any better! Review: This book was hilarrious! It's written in England, which puts a whole new, and interesting, twist of the cliche "I hate my life" books about teenagers. This book is well written, funny, and reminds me of my self (well-sort of).
Rating: Summary: I loved it! Review: angus, Thongs and full-frontal snogging is a wonderful book. A hillarous book that anyone would like. Georgia Nicolson is a very well developed character which clearly makes the book what it is! A FABBITY-FAB-FAB read! 5 [stars] all the way!
Rating: Summary: The Word "Hilarious" Can't Even Describe My Laughter Review: WARNING: THIS IS NOT A SERIOUS BOOK. BE PREPARED TO BE THROWN OUT OF YOUR SEAT AND THROWN TO THE GROUND WITH LAUGHTER. FOR MORE SAFETY MEASURES CALL 1-800-THISISAGREATBOOK That should be the warning label on each copy.I never thought it would be so funny! Picture this: you are a fourteen year old girl filled with sarcastic comments and hormones. You have a cat named Angus, about the size of a dog, that likes to stalk the poodles next store. You have a 3 year old sister that may have peed in your room and thinks you are a cat like Angus. Your mom is a makeup-holic and your dad is a madman and a builder from hell("everyone saw his idea of a shed--before it fell on Uncle Eddie"). Your teachers are pathetic lesbians and your best friend is a ditzy annoying bore("It's like talking to a sock."). Did I mention you love this guy, but he probably doesn't know you exist?!?!?! Seriously- - this book is THE funniest EVER! My mom wasn't a fan of this book, though because it "didn't have a real problem." Well I say that's the joy of it. A little problem like, a zit...is like the world blowing up to a teen!!! Even the small roblems in life could be big ones to a teen, you can relate. The beauty is even though the author is an adult-- it feels like you are talking to a HILARIOUS 14 year old!!! This is a Bridget Jones, my mom said. At least she paid this book ONE compliment. But as I am about to say, this book is really for the KIDS to ENJOY! I loved this book and I GUARANTEE so will you. You will be knocked over in delight--so buy the next and the next-until you've had a full dose of Georgia--and what everyone needs...a laugh.
Rating: Summary: Don't judge a book by its title! Review: When a friend lent me Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging, I basically shrugged and thought, "Okay... Well, whatever, I don't have time to go to the library today." After I'd flipped through it, though, I decided that it looked pretty funny, and I couldn't wait to read it when I got home. The result - I was up late muffling my laughter while I read this book! Georgia is a 14-year-old modern British girl, and this book is her diary of a year in her life with all of it's (ever changing) ups and downs. Her sarcastic views are generally hilarious, and that makes this book a definite page turner. I hope the sequels will be just as good, and if you're looking for another laughter-filled epic of a teenage girl, try the Alice series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor - or for other funny, diary form books, Truth or Dairy and Catherine Called Birdy. For any teen/preteen girl, reluctant reader or not... Try reading one page in this book, and see if you can put it down!
Rating: Summary: I'd give it 6 stars if I could! Review: I cannot begin to tell you how much I LOVE this book. It's like the teenage bible. It's light-hearted take on teenage angst is refreshing and funny. Rather than heavy and depressing, it is NON-STOP fluffy humor. You'll love Georgia's total self-delusional, obsessive entries and the Brit lingo. I think everyone can find a little Georgia in themselves.
Rating: Summary: Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging Review: My friend called me up and told me about this really great book. "It's called 'Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging'!" she exclaimed. "What?!" was my response. I had to ask her to repeat the title at least seven times. When I saw it in a book store, I couldn't help but buy it since my friend had convinced me it was so great. At first it was a blast to read, but as I progressed into the novel, I found the main character, Georgia, to be a bit of a snob and I just couldn't stand her! I didn't understand how my friend could like this book so much! After I finished reading the book, I forgot it for a few months and then picked it up again, you know, to give it a second chance. Now, knowing this character Georgia was.... well, the way she was, made the novel more enjoyale the second time around and brutally hilarious! The slang Georgia and her friends come up with is a delightful addition to the story, and the events that Georgia encounters are so silly, embarrassing, but real! This book is a good read, and if you don't like it at first, give it a second chance. It's worth it.
Rating: Summary: Fabbity- fab-fab! Review: I completely and totally fell in love with this book within the first five pages! This book was hilarious! I took it home and was reading it on my couch and my mother was looking at me like I was crazy because I simply could not stop laughing! Every time I turned a page, Georgia would say something that I could completely relate to, and that's what made the book so funny! If you are looking for a great laugh, and hours of fun, I totally recommend this book to you and your friends. (Even guys will get a kick out of this one!) Go buy this book- I promise you that you won't regret it!
Rating: Summary: Teenagers have found a new friend! Review: This book describes the troubles and fears of teens all over the world in a humorous way. I found myself laughing out loud. I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. Being a teenager, I found that it showed exactly what I was going through or what I was afraid of. Every girl should read this book, and she will find that is describes her in every way. It's a magnificent novel and definitely worth reading. I give it full points and recommend the 2 sequels fully!
Rating: Summary: Funny and an excellent read for teenagers Review: I found this book extremely funny and a really good read. It is a diary entry of a teenage girl called Georgia Nicolson. She talks about her normal eveyday life. It gives you the inside gossip on how to kiss and her thoughts and feelings about the lads she fancies. I thought this was a really good read and i would recommend it to all my friends and anyone who is a teenager.
