Rating: Summary: Makes You Laugh Review: Georgia Nicolson is a teenager who lives in England. She goes to an all girl's school and is in love with Robbie, a major god (really hot guy). Her best friend, Jas, is dating Robbie's little brother. Georgia's dad has gone to kiwi-a-go-go land (New Zealand) and she is stuck at home with her little sister Libby, who is three years old, her mom, and her and her cat Angus "My mixed-breed cat," says Georgia "half domestic tabby, half Scottish wildcat. The size of a small Labrador, only mad." She only gets out of the house when she hangs out with her friends, Jas, Ellen, Jools, and Rosie. Not that she would want to go out since she shaved off her eyebrows, and as a result looks like an alien. When at school she has to deal with nauseating P. Green, her lesbian gym teacher, Ms. Stamp, and, worst of all, Slim, the headmistress. I really like this book, and would highly recommend it mainly to teenage girls, but anyone could enjoy it. It makes you laugh till your belly's numb. Angus tells about romance and life from a teenage point of view. It's in diary format and is part of a series of four books, which all are good.
Rating: Summary: So cute! Review: Hilariously, readers can connect to Angus, Thongs and full frontal snogging, an English girl's diary, of her life as an adolescent teenager. Louise Rennison, the author, writes just as she were the girl, at the exact perspective. Her life changes once the summer hols (vacation) is over and she starts up a new school year (8th grade.) Her friend Jas, has a new boyfriend and Georgia is in love with his brother, Robbie. If Georgia is not talking about bras, its thongs, snogging (kissing), her cat Angus, or her eyebrow-plucking episode. Even though this book is humorous, Georgia struggles with many issues adolescent teenagers' face. This book has a perfect cliffhanger, it leaves you itching to read the sequel.
Rating: Summary: Very funny, great even for adults Review: When I first heard about this book and the other books in this series I thought that they were designed for pre-teens and adolescents. After I read this book, the first one in the series I became instantly hooked. I found myself looking for my next Georgia fix. These books are a great look into what it is like to be a teenage girl, or any age girl for that matter just trying to get through everyday events.
Rating: Summary: Must read for every girl & those who want to understand them Review: Two days ago, one of my students accidentally left a book on my desk with the words "SEX GOD" in bold type facing up. I almost passed out until she came to retrieve the book and told me how incredibily funny the diary of Georgia Nicolson was. She encouraged me to read Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging. Never one to turn down a laugh, I went to the store purchased Angus and the Sex God book and was hooked by the first page. I laughed so hard at the trials and tribulations of Georgia that I kept following my husband around the house reading bits and pieces of it to him. "Why is this so funny to you?" he kept asking me. "You don't understand, " I replied. "You're not a girl." Georgia's diary is full of experiences many 12-14 year old girls have lived through. From those traitorous girlfriends, "I told him that I was breaking up with him because you said I could do better," to parents who are clearly losing their minds, and little sisters who charm the ferocious beasts who live in our houses, Georgia's diary will keep you entertained and laughing because you KNOW exactly what she is going through. Whether you are a teenage girl looking for a truly fun book to read, a woman who would get a laugh out of remembering your 14 year old adventures, or are a parent who often wonders just what your teenage daughter is thinking, Louise Rennison's books are perfect for you. Don't stop at Angus...You've got to read the others as well!
Rating: Summary: A Year in Georgia's Shoes Review: This highly recommended book, Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging, by Louise Rennison, is full of laughter and comedy. It is full of confessions from Georgia Nicolson, a typical teenage girl. Although this book is very entertaining, there are some things that are in need of improvement. The ending was very typical and predictable. Georgia has a crush on a boy named Robbie and her embarassing parents and best friend, Jas, don't help her win him over. She's determined to steal him from his girlfriend, Lindsay. Her annoying, 3-year-old sister, Libby, is constantly bothering her, too. Georgia's experiences will entertain and keep the reader laughing constantly. I recommend this book especially for readers who are looking for comedy and entertainment. Georgia will remind adults what it's like to be a teenager and give children a preview. Georgia's thoughts that are written down are exactly what are going through a normal teenager's mind. Georgia and her family and friends will help the reader to never put this book down.
Rating: Summary: Funny and delicious as a hot fudge sundae Review: This book will have you laughing from page one and you won't stop till the last page. Typical teenage traumas and dramas are turned into hilarious scenes and situations. Another funny book like this one is Feeling Sorry for Celia. Also An Egg on Three Sticks but it's both drama and humor.
Rating: Summary: Angus Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging Review: The well-written book, Angus Thongs And Full Frontal Snogging, is about a teenage girl named Georgia Nickleson. Georgia is like every other teenage girl and is obsessed with a "Sex god." Will Georgia find the love of her life or will her heart be crushed? That is what I wondered throughout the book. When I finished the first chapter, I just had to keep going. The book was a lot better than I thought it would be. It is one of the funniest books I have ever read. For example when Georgia was getting ready to see the "Sex god" Robbie, Georgia was flipping out because she didn't know what to wear. I thought it was really funny. So if you want to read a good book on your own time I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: This Book Really Deserves 10/5 Stars Review: This has gotta be THEE BEST book I have ever read. It truely is a laugh a minuet. In my oppinion Georgia has a normal life, she just chooses to spice it up at every oppotunity. I love the way she has a crazy (yet appropriate) nick-name for everyone. I LOVE all the charectors in this book. I think the best thing about it is that Georgia is NEVER serious - she describes her worst situations in the most hilarious way. Others have said not to read this in public, I will also add night to that when others are asleep because you are sure to wake them up with laughter.
Rating: Summary: Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging Review: How would you feel about being a 14-year-old girl with a crazy cat who likes eating birds and scareing the neighbor's poodle who can be very loud, and a 3-year-old sister who likes leaving wet "nappies" (poo) at the foot of your bed? Or embarrassing parents who make you want to escape to Stonehenge and dance with the Druids. Thats what Georgia Nicolson has to put up with every day. This book, was incredibly strange. I throughly enjoyed reading the book don't get me wrong, its just that its author's writing style was different to me. This book was easy to read, and if I had a question on some Brittish-Slang, all that I had to do was look in the back of the book because theres a complete dictionary back there which helps a lot because trust me, somethings do get a bit confusing! The book though, was very entertaining and well thought out. It contained characters that I could totally relate to, along with funny plots and things that made you laugh out loud to where people around you give you strange looks. Over all, I'd have to give this book four stars out of five because although I did enjoy it very, very much, I just don't think it was one of my favorites. Possibly because the British-slang and the fact that I didn't conpletely understand it, or the fact that, while it was a very easy read, with little to no high vocabulary words that I had no clue about what they meant, I just didn't think that it was quite enough of a challenge. The author, Lousie Rennison, as well didn't do the greatest of jobs at organizing the story line. But as for being positive, I believe that this book would be great for children or pre-teens, and possibly crazy language arts teachers that enjoy being able to tell their students that they have read this book. This book, wasn't exactly what I expected either. It contained some very childish thoughts and ideas and actions, while at the same time, some of the ideas were sort of complex and made you think. My friends told me about the book and some saids that they enjoyed it while others said that they didn't so when I read it I had a very open mind to any and all suggestions of ideas and actions that were presented in the story. Georgia is Everygirl taken to the extreme, her antics will make anything you've ever done when looking for that special guy seem staid, reasonable, or even worse, completely normal. At 14 she sometimes thinks she's the only girl in the world without the very necessary appendage called the boyfriend, even though she knows this isn't true when she looks at her friends. I sometimes believe that I made a real mistake when I took this book out of its package because I didn't ever want to put it down and sometimes my homework and house hold chores got put on hold just so I could read a little bit longer. So in my opinion, you pick it up, read it, and lend it to a friend --- but only after you've borrowed something of equal value as hostage just to make sure you get it back.
Rating: Summary: A odd, yet funny book Review: Creavity, great language, and just sheer hilarioustly makes this one of my favorite all time books. And I don't even like teenage/friendship sort of novels! This books focuses on the trials and tribulations of the main character, Georgia. She worries constantly about her nose and if you dream boyfriend, Robbie a.k.a the Sex God will ever become her boyfriend and she will be able to put her stalking days behind her. Coupled with an insane cat (Angus-hence the title) and a even madder little sis, Libby, this book is truly the funniest I've ever read. Georgia has to deal with her embrassing Father and even worse Uncle and Grandfather. She all works around it however in a short and humorous book. Rennison manages to create a perfect balance of seriousness and humor in an interesting diary like format within Georgia's funny brain. This is a must for any person even if this isn't exactly your genre!
