Summary: What I think of Adrian Mole
Review: Adrian Mole is a tremendoulsy funny book by Sue Townsend. It tells of Adrian's life with unusual parents, an insane dog, a worrying grandmother, an excentrick old man and his dog, the school bully, a girl who won't notice him and a betraying best friend. It is set in the eighties and contains a few years of his life. Adrian Mole is fond of poetry and world peace.
This is one of the best books ever! You have to read the whole Series! I don't know anyone who hasn't enjoyed it!

Summary: Hilarious
Review: This is one of my favorite books, and it is one of the funniest books I have ever read. If you have ever been an adolescent, you must read this classic novel! Caution: If you don't like dark comedy, don't read this.

Summary: Xanna's Review
Review: This book is so funny! It is about a 13 and 3/4 old boy named Adrian Mole. Adrian is British & these are two of his diarys. This is a book that makes you laugh but also makes you sad. I give "The Adrian Mole Diarys" five stars!

Summary: Adrian's Badly Drawn World....
Review: Long before Bridget Jones was popular, Adrian Mole's diary was making people laugh the world over.

I read the first Adrian Mole book when I was in high school...seven or eight times. I have now read all of the Adrian Mole books & when I finished the Cappucino Years, I have to say, I was a little weepy.

I gave this book to my now fiance last Christmas & got him hooked on the series as well. It is hard to resist the bumbling lovable character of Adrian Mole.

He touches the nerd in us all.

Summary: Yes!!!
Review: I discovered this book right around the time it came out, when I was in grade school. I read it over and over, checking it out of the library three times in a year. I thought Aidy's life was far more interesting than my humble origins and laughed at all his problems, I even did a book report on it for 6th grade English. Adrian thinks himself intellectual though he is far from it at this point (later books he gets closer to having the kind of booksmarts that would make him a true intellectual),writes bad poetry and pines for treacle-haired Pandora. Almost makes me want to visit the UK.

Summary: Fabulous!
Review: I just read this book and I loved it. I am 23 yrs old and think it is the best book I've read in ages. It's fresh, clever, funny and quick to read. I wish my life at 13 3/4 was as funny and exciting as his! I love Adrian Mole!

Summary: Parents: A hilarious refresher course on adolescence--!!!
Review: This book was on my middle-schooler's summer reading list--he never read it, but I couldn't put it down. I couldn't stop laughing, and then, every time I noticed my son's face breaking out, I'd start in all over (and of course couldn't tell him why).Bridget Jones owes a lot to Adrian Mole's neuroses! It had the side benefit of acquainting me with a lot of British argot that came in handy on a trip we took soon after. Oh, I hope the sequels are half as good!

Summary: Did I just read a classic?
Review: I can't believe I had never heard of this book until an Amazon.com friend recommended it--and I work in a school! What an enjoyable few evenings I spent reading this adorable story. The "Diaries" chronicles two years of Master Adrian Mole's young life (from 13 3/4 to 16). We are also given a charming insight into the life of the lower class in Britain in the early 1980's. Adrian is totally clueless about what is going on around him. He even feels superior to everyone around him because he is such an "intellectual!" I imagine that he was probably the class nerd--he just didn't know it. Adrian's family is totally dysfunctional but his discussions of the outrageous actions of his parents are amusing. There are many tender moments during the Diaries but overall, the book is "dead hilarious" and I can't wait to read more!

Summary: Exploiting the Teenage Mind
Review: I was surprised at the ammount of sight Townsend put into this book - I supposed that becasue it was of another era, that Adrian would be some kind of white-washed Brit, moaning and groaning over the problems of living in the 80's. Boy, was I wrong.

Adrian Mole expresses the same feelings as I often feel - joy over self-knowledge, depression over lost friendships and would-be-boyfriends (or girlfriends, in Adrian's case). Sue exploits the teenage mind in an almost-scary sort of way.

Only problem was the British vocabulary - I suppose all those British Mia fans feel the same way about our words . . .
