Summary: Thank God for Lemony Snicket
Review: I'm a prospective Ivy League student, and children's books happen to be my hobby. Sadly, a great many of them, although in possession of decent enough concepts and plotlines, are poorly written. That's why I love this book. The author has his own distinct voice and a masterful control of the English language--quite unexpected in contemporary writing. While so many books out there--for children and adults alike--are shoddily pieced together with absolutely no sense of craft, it's refreshing to see that the genuine WRITER is not yet a completely endangered species. ...Plus, the "Pony Party" book jacket was absolutely riotous good fun.

Summary: A strange puzzle
Review: Right from the title, you know that this book isn't your average autobiography.
Lemony Snicket has created a startling book that's not really about his life, but has little details that could really be real. I liked how the author seemed to enjoy poking fun at the normal autobiography, making up strange characters and places, (complete with codes and letters,) that belong in the "secret agency that stole him when he was young".
I believe this book would be wonderful for readers that love solving a plot along the way and enjoy the abnormal, because there's no doubt about it- this book is strange.

Summary: This has got to be the BEST book EVER!!!!
Review: Hi. I'm a huge fan of ASOUE. I'm disgustingly obsessed with the series so when heard about an autobiography of Lemony Snicket, I wanted it SO badly. And now I have it.

This book explained many things if you looked hard enough, about V.F.D, Beatrice, and Lemony. So, if you had a problem with it, so be it. THIS BOOK WAS THE BEST!!!![....]

Summary: A puzzle for Snicket's older readers
Review: If you haven't read Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" books, particularly books five through eight (the most recent), you probably will not get as much out of this book and should start with those.

This "biography" explores the V.F.D. conspiracy story arc that becomes increasingly important in the later books, and seems to be aimed for slightly more sophisticated readers. There isn't really a narrative per se, but a collection of notes, letters, minutes, and found pictures, full of self-references, oblique references to characters and events from "A Series Of Unfortunate Events," and cryptic teasers. The index sets the tone-- if you try to look anything up, you'll be sent on a spiral of "see also"'s that are sometimes frustrating, sometimes illuminating (hinting at conspiracies and pseudonyms), but always amusing.

Readers new to Snicket may want to skim this, realizing that they won't get most of the jokes and allusions, then return to it after reading the books. It may not answer all your questions, but you'll appreciate the effort that went into assembling this puzzling in-joke.

Summary: Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Review
Review: When I bought this book I knew I wasn't going to get an actual biography, a word which here means, "a book containing all the facts regarding a person's life", so the fact that it contains nothing resembling an actual biography didn't distress me. I had no expectations.

Like most readers, I am right-handed, so what I discovered was a wonderful addition to the ongoing saga of the Baudelaire orphans, one that confirms that there is, indeed, a conspiracy, yet tells us absolutely nothing about what that conspiracy may entail.

Despite the lack of concrete evidence, we become more entangled in the world of the Baudelaires and their chronicler; we become intimately acquainted with O and his henchmen; we learn just a smidge more about the seemingly peripheral characters who are more than what they seem. For me, that was worth the price of admission. In fact, I'd have bought the book just for the dustjacket alone.

I appreciated the Bantockian inclusion of documents, notes, transcripts, pictures and burn-holes that made "Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography" an interactive, if confusing, adventure.

Summary: what is this guy's big secret???
Review: I have read all of the unfortunate Events Books, and I really enjoyed them, but this one is not good. Lemony Snicket acts like a fugitive or something. This book was very confusing to me, and it would be 100% bewilderment if you haven't read all of the books. Acting like you live in a fictional world is fun, but Snicket has carried this joke too far, all the way to a horrible book. I wouldn't spend [money] on it, maybe check it out at your local library.

Summary: What are all of you thinking?
Review: Well, I wasn't going to write a review, but then I read all of the other reader's thoughts and decided that somebody should tell the truth about this book.
First of all, I suppose that if you are a fan of the SoUE, it is a necessity to read this book, just because there are a few facts which are interesting and relevant to the series. BUT, don't think that you are going to find out all of the secrets behind the story as I did. But, if you really don't feel like wasting an hour, don't read this book.
Overall, I wasn't totally disappointed with the book, but I would say that it's definitely not the best book I've ever read or phenomenal like other people have stated.

Summary: Snickety Snicket
Review: Any fan of Lemony Snickt should buy this! This is definite hilarious. However you have to be a true fan to understand. My daughters like "A Series of Unfortunate Events" so of course we had to get this too, and we've enjoyed it mostly.

Summary: Wow
Review: This book was nothing short of phenomenal. This humorous book reveals all and entertains all ages. I could hardly put it down. I would definetly read his other books before this, though. Snicket has done it again!!
