Rating: Summary: great book Review: I bought this book, seeing that it was science fiction. I thought that i would only read the first 30 pages, but I ended up reading all 380, nonstop. It was great, and so great, that 380 pages is not even enough. It's about the events of the near future which include cloning, and eejits. Matt is a clone, and is trying to fit in with the rest of humanity, even though they tell Matt that he's a filthy clone. It's his adventure through life. It will satisfy science fiction people, (there's a lot of amazing technology, that is grealty described), and adventure people, (there's a lot of adventure here too). Overall...this book is great for pretty much anyone, and it would be very great if they made a sequel to this book.

Rating: Summary: Of Drugs and Clones Review: If you were looking for a morbid book this may not be it. It is a little on the weird side but it's not really sci-fi either. I'd say it's more like an adventure. Although it looks like it's leaning towards the mens side, I think that a well read girl could read it and enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: It's hard to describe the excellence of this book Review: The House of the Scorpion is amazing. I could possible say it is an equal to Harry Potter, perhaps it surpasses it. I was immediately intrigued by the depth of the characters and description of the futuristic atmosphere. I was surprised to find how the book grew on me, and in the end I couldn't put it down. When it was over, I wanted to yell with dissapointment (it ended) and happiness (because it was such a pleasure to read). Anybody who reads this book will love everything about it. ...
Rating: Summary: could be a great movie Review: this could be a great movie although the movie will never be as great as the book. a great person to play matt is the kid from sixth sense. at some points i didnt like matt but i felt that overall hes character made the book so thought provoking. i still didnt understand why tam lin had to die. that was a sad part that made me angry.
Rating: Summary: Works for kids and adults Review: This is a wonderful book with good characters and fascinating story. Unusual for a "children's" book author, Farmer brings up some issues within this story that merit thought and discussion -- primarily the issue of human cloning and a drug culture gone amok. I read this book out loud to my two sons, ages 7 and 9. The action scenes played well with my younger son while the ethical issues caused several questions to be asked by my older son. And, although I feared a quick wrapup of the plot at the end, tying together all loose strings, Farmer resists this temptation, leading the reader to wonder just what Matt will do with his future. Will he truly shut down Opium or will power go to his head (he is, after all, a clone of El Patron). Farmer leaves the door open for a possible sequel, but fortunately, the reader is not left hanging from a cliff. Well done!
Rating: Summary: This book is GREAT Review: This book is great. The character development is amazing. there is tons of suspense and twists that you will never suspect. this is a great read for someone of any age and it deserves all of the medals/awards it got
Rating: Summary: The House of the Scorpion Review: The House of the Scorpion was a very breath-taking book, it really keeps you on your toes as you wait breathless, waiting for the next adventure. In this book, the author really keeps you thinking. As I read books I always try to figure out what happens next-then I read on to see if I was right. But The Scorpion kept me guessing all through the book. I enjoyed being with Matt as he was discovered, when he was kept hidden in a room with no one but bugs for company, watching as he discovered the power within him, when he met the person he was cloned for, El Patron, and then when he found out why he was cloned and what he was needed for. I think that this book is one of the best book I have ever read, I could hardly bear to put it down! I really recomend this book to people who love suspense.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: This would probobly be the best book i have read, its about a boy and his search for life. He starts out with his aunt in a old house in the opium fierlds, then to El Patrons, then to the orphange, and the shrimping factory, he escapes, and is beought back to el Patron. This is the story of how Matts life unfolds!
Rating: Summary: If you want sleep, don't buy this book! Review: Though I haven't read this in awhile, I'm thinking of rereading it. This is truly a great book. It has a gripping first sentence, and holds you to the very last. Though totally and completely foreign--this takes place in the future--it's completely believable, and very detailed. There's action, death, sorrow, happiness, out-of-this-world technology and concepts, and even a little romance, though it doesn't go overboard. Need I say more? You will like this book!
