Rating: Summary: This is me! Review: Georgia is like any other 14 year old - which is why I realized that this author had practically written a book about me! Louise Rennison's writing is easy to read and she presents the characters in such a way that you can relate to them instantly. After I read Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging, I went on amazon.com every day to see when the second one was coming out and waited in anguish for a week for my book to come. All I can say is read this book! I thought it was even funnier than the first one, and my only complaint is that it should have taken place over a whole year, like the first one. Georgia's further adventures with the Sex God, wet Lindsay, Jas, etc. will make you laugh so hard that you'll cry. If you laugh a lot, don't read it in school - I had to bite my hand to keep from laughing, and in my next class I fell off my chair. Rennison's books are destined to become teen girl classics. So, just read this hilarious sequel and try not to roll off the bed, get in trouble, or experience any other side effects of the book.
Rating: Summary: Just as good, if not better, than its predecessor Review: I love Georgia Nicholson.... Georgia is an average 14 year old who has finally landed the guy of her dreams...except for the small snag that Robbie is 18 and almost going into college. He therefore feels they should lay off each other and suggests a friend of his younger brother Tom's named Dave. Georgia is furious that he not only dumps her but also casts her off to someone else. And yes, Wet Lindsay enters the picture again, but you'll understand the nature of that towards the end. Meanwhile, Tom (Robbie's brother) and G's friend Jas (drippy "Mrs. Huge Knickers" that I'll never understand why G. hangs with)are separated when Tom goes off to a work program in Birmingham, and Jas does nothing but moan and moon about throughout the novel until he returns. Georgia, however, refuses to take being a dumpee lying down, and institutes a plan from her Mum's "Men are From Mars..." book. She meets Tom's friend Dave and they hit it off. But, will he be effective in helping Gee-Gee land the SG again? And how will she break the news to Dave the Laugh that he's just a "Red Herring"? Confused? Then you MUST read the first book... and then immediately get this book. If you want to break down the female psyche in America, then read "Reviving Ophelia" (also a good book). If, however, you want a laugh and be reminded of how mental we were in high school, read a Georgia Nicholson book. By the by, this sequel also conatins the glossary at the back to help us Yanks with Brit slang. Brilliant!
Rating: Summary: Fabbity fab fab Review: Georgie is back! Still desperately in love with Sex God (aka Robbie) and being savaged by her half scottish wild cat Angus. But as usual nothing's ever perfect or normal in her life, as her parents try to drag her off to New Zealand and problems arise with the Sex God. Jas is once again her best friend/dim witted side kick, and Georgie "might as well be talking to a duck" when she talks to her. While the book IS funny it's not as funny as the first, though it comes very close. You'll still laugh an insane amount at the tragic life of Georgie (I suggest you read it in private, no one likes a mad laugher in a library). I'd recommend this book, and it's partner to anyone, and excitedly await the next book!!
Rating: Summary: Ha Ha Ha Review: The book is as good as if not better that the first one. I was laughing the entire time I was reading it. In the UK it's title is It's OK I'm wearing Really Big Knickers.
Rating: Summary: LOL Hilarious Review: On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God made me laugh even more than Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging. The type of British humor Rennison uses in Georgia's diaries is some of the best, so when all else fails, including plot and character development, you still get a grand laugh. But I felt I enjoyed this plot more than the last. I also felt I got to know Georgia Nicolson better as a person. For one thing, she is naive. At 14, she and her friends are at the age when they cannot differentiate between true love and true lust. Sex God, a.k.a. Robbie, is the object of Georgia's affection. They aren't together all that long when Robbie dumps her, saying she is too young for him (he is 17, I think). At any rate, Georgia is crushed that he dumped her. She "loved" him, or so she thought, and loved kissing him. Not only has he dumped her, but it also appears he has gone back to his girlfriend, "Wet Lindsay." FYI, a "wet" is someone who is drippy, dorky, and irritating. According to Georgia, those are qualities Lindsay posesses. Georgia wants to make Robbie sorry that he dumped her. She pretends to fancy a boy she calls "Dave the Laugh." However, Dave is oblivious to Georgia's true motives and is actually totally smitten with her, probably to the equivalent Georgia is smitten with Robbie. When she finally dumps Dave the Laugh, he angrily deems her a "heartless whatsit." Okay. So he didn't take it too well. Sex God is not the only thing on 14 year-old Georgia's mind. There's Libby, her rambunctious little sis who stores Scuba Barbie in Georgia's bed, along with her dirty panties that she frequently lifts her dress to show the gawking passerby. And there's Angus, still the mischief-causing fat cat we know and love from book one. He's still hell-bent on terrorizing the neighborhood and all of its animal residents. With the same humor, except in greater quantities, I believe, Rennison has managed to write yet again another hilarious novel. And just like in book one, there is a glossary to define all British slang terms. Their language is quite amusing and one of the reason I frequently read British things. I'm now looking forward to absorbing myself in the third Georgia Nicolson book and I'm hoping to get my little sister hooked too!
Rating: Summary: Teenage Reality Review: Georgia is like a typical 14 year old who likes someone so much that they cant tell the difference between lust and love. She likes the SG (Sex God a.k.a Robbie). Her friend Jan likes the SG's brother and, Jan tells him how Georgia likes Robbie. She cant tell if she has love for him of if it is another crush. When Robbie decides that he is too old for her, Robbie breaks up with Georgia. She did not like it to much so, Georgia's way of making the SG jealous she goes out with a guy named Dave. In which she calls him "Dave the laugh". Well when she finds out that it really does not bother Robbie and that he is talking to his ex girlfriend, she gets mad a dumps Dave. Dave did not take it really well. Well we cant forget to mention Georgia's little sister Libby, who shoves Barbie and other things in Georgia's' bed. The cat Angus, is still causing trouble with the neighbors and their poodles. Angus supposedly had the neighbors held up in their green house, and the neighbors had the cops come and get the cat. Her dad Vati, is coming back home from New Zealand. In the end she does not move to New Zealand, what Georgia calls Kiwi - a - Gogo.
I liked the book it seemed really original and it used a lot of British terms so I learned new words and it describes what really goes on in a teenagers mind. It also captures the real drama that is in a teenager's life also.
Rating: Summary: "On the bright side, I'm now the girlfriend of a sex god" Review: This book is one of the best books i've ever read! It was written by a British author called Louise Rennison. This book is basically about a 14 year old girl called Georgia Nicolson who is ""in love" with the "sex god" A.K.A. Robbie. Well they start going out for a while but then they brake up because he is 17 and he thinks he is to old for her. After they brake up she starts dating another boy called Dave A.K.A "Dave the Laugh". He liked her lot. So then she dumps Dave because she thinks her plan is not working. She is still "in love" with Robbie. While all of this is happening her dad is coming from New Zealand. This was a very interesting book to read. I suggest you go out and read it!
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: The title made me read it. Georgia Nicolson's way whinny for me. I guess this is English humor. If you're under 16, skip it.
Rating: Summary: GREAT LAUGHS, BUT NOT AS GOOD AS THE FIRST Review: Georgia Nicolson is at it again! In a whirl of sarcasm and wild British terms Georgia throws us (and herself) around on a melodramatic rollercoaster of teenage emotions. In her obsession with fashion and how to get the Sex God, Robbie, to take more notice of her, she bases all her actions on "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" book she found in her mother's room.
Though this book had me laughing out loud at some parts, it didn't have me rolling on the floor laughing the way the first book did. I have the next book in the seris at home and hope the trend doesn't continue. Over all it was a good read.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: This books was pretty good! I read this one without reading the first one (Angus, Thongs & Full-Frontal Snogging) and it still made a whole lot of sense so you don't really need to read all of the books in order because each seperate book explains everything. Hope I was some help :)
