Summary: A book that you will remember to pass on to your children.
Review: I read this series of books in the fourth grade and was mesmerized through all of them. It is one of the few (series) of books (among hundreds) read during my childhood that I vividly remember reading. As the guardian of an eleven year old girl, it is hard to find a book, let alone a series, that offers such a culturally rich adventure. I will probably reread them with her and enjoy the tale all over again.

Summary: Pretty Awesome!
Review: I've read these books twice each (except for The Dark is Rising, which I've read about 4 times), and I've enjoyed them each time. Since, I've named the last book, Silver on the Tree, as one of my two favorite books of all time.

Summary: Amazing Young Adult Fiction
Review: Without a doubt, Susan Cooper is one of the best young adult writers. These books fascinated and sparked my imagination for all my young adult years. I read "The Dark is Rising" so many times the cover fell off. What I admire the most about these books is their ability to treat young people like people - that their interests surpass dances and hairstyles and television. Keep it up!

Summary: Welsh Myths Alive and Well
Review: Many thanks to Susan Cooper for her series, The Dark Is Rising. Those of us who wish to teach our children mythology and to relate it to today's world have an invaluable ally in Ms. Cooper. It is good to be able to show our young ones that the old ways do not fade away but underlie all we see and do in the modern world. The myths are a part of us, and they will continue to speak to us as long as we have ears to hear and eyes to see their beauty and meaning.

Ms. Cooper, you have succeeded admirably in your stated goal! Again, many thanks, and bright blessings.

Summary: A series you will love your whole life!!!
Review: The first time I read these books was when I was in grade school. I don't think I have ever been the same! Susan Cooper turned me into a zombie unable to finish anything (especially homework) until I had read the entire series. I put this series up there with Narnia, Dune, and even the Ender Wiggin series. This is a MUST READ!!!!

Summary: Amazingly, wonderfully, magically, entrancing!
Review: I've read The Dark Is Rising six times I believe, and every time I sink into the mystical tale and I become one of the characters. This book takes me to a place so wonderful I scarcely remember what world I'm really in. These books are my favorites, ever. I recommend them to anyone over the age of eleven... I hope everyone can be so fortunate as to read these books :) --Allison

Summary: Story has powerful charectars and is well written.
Review: This is an enchanting story of a young boy, Will, who learns of his speacial power as an "old one" The charactars in this story are especially strong, I was thrilled with the outgoing personality of the mysterious Merriam lyon. These books are written most powerfully, I was just absorbed. If you like fantasy and history, this is your series. at first I thought that "When The Dark Comes Rising" (no.2 in the series) was incredably boring, But don't give up! You don't understand untill he understands. I just am in love with this series.
