Rating: Summary: A Great Read! Review: I read this book because my friend reccomended it to me. She said that it was quick, and easy to read. I read it, and it was. I really loved reading it too. I related to alot of the stuff that was going on in her life. This book is definately written for teenage girls. I would reccomend this to any girl between the ages of eleven and eighteen. Trust me you'll love it
Rating: Summary: What MY Mother Doesn't Know?. . .WHOA! Review: I thought this book was realisticly funny, smart, honest, real, and quick. I read it in under 2 hours, it's basically a cluter of poetic journal entries by a 14 year old girl name Sophie. In this book Sophie takes you along for the ride while she experiences her first, second, and third love, and learns the difference between whats love and whats lust. This book is so true. I mean, just stop for 5 seconds and think..."What My Mother Doesn't Know"... Yeah, whoa! I know that there is so much that my mother doesn't know about me and I would just die if she ever found out. There's this one part in the book that deals with a dress, a dance, and a lie. Now this part was all too formiliar. This book is so good and such a quick read, set aside a few hours and just read this book. It's deffenitly worth those few hours and much more.
Rating: Summary: Awful Review: This book was horrendous. The style was creative, yes, with all the little poems, but it was such a waste of 200 pages seeing as there was only about 10 words on each page. The characters were all one dimensional, you only saw one side of their personality, and you never developed any feelings for them at all. Sophie, the main character is annoying as heck and I'll be damned if she's an "average teenage girl". This book is predictable, boring and sicky sweet. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Horrendous.
Rating: Summary: Great book on teenage romance Review: This is a book that is mostly based on teenage romance. Sophie finds herself thinking she loves her boyfriends but in the end finding true love where she never would have expected it. A person that is not so good looking could turn put to be Mr. Right and have an amazing personality. I loved how this book was in touch with how teenage girls lives are and what it feels like to finally find true love.
Rating: Summary: Emotional, but not overwhelming Review: What My Mother Doesn't Know is not the type of book I would normally pick up, yet I have read it twice! I love how the book is cleverly told through prose, and how Sonya Sones was able to pack so much emotion into each poem. When I read this book, I can feel all the emotions Sophie feels. I feel her longing, I feel her want, and it makes me feel good in the end, because it is being able to feel what Sophie feels that makes this book so good. I wouldn't say that this book is for everyone, and I think that a teenage demographic is best - I don't remember what age I was when I first read What My Mother Doesn't Know, but I know I enjoyed it even more as a younger teen than I did rereading it now, at age 17.
Rating: Summary: An Amazing Book...and Experience Review: I am in love with this book!! Everything Sophie said in "What My Mother Doesn't Know" is something I wish I could say about some of the situations I've had in my life. As a teenager growing up in a private high school setting, I've had my share of fights, boyfriends, break-ups, and realizations I would rather forget. However, I've also had many great relationships, amazing moments, and discoveries I carry with me every day of my life. Sophie has her share of these experiences, too, and I think the reason why I love this book so much is because Sophie reminds me somewhat of myself. After reading the book, I wrote to the author, Sonya Sones, telling her what an amazing book it was - and what an amazing experience I had reading it. My friend let me borrow the book, and by the next morning, I had it finished. I advise this book to anyone...Not only is it informative to teenage girls, but their mothers may enjoy reading it, too. By reading "What My Mother Doesn't Know," you, too, may gain a better understanding of what your teenage daughter, girlfriend, or friend is going through. To Ms. Sones: Thank you for writing such a wonderful book!! I will continue to be one of your biggest fans for the rest of my life and will constantly recommend your books to all of my friends!! ~ <3 Jenna W.
Rating: Summary: What you don't need to know... Review: The book centers around Sofie and her boyfriends and crushs, once in a while taking a diversion to take a peek at her realtionships with her best friends or her mother. The entire book is written in sort-of poetry form, which makes the reading faster and leaves the reader wanting more, as many facts are kept hidden. One word to describe this book? cute. It won't change your life, but if you're looking for a light read, consider picking up this book.
Rating: Summary: Am I the only one? Review: Ok look, the book was good but am I the only one who thinks that the whole thing with Chaz was totally perverted? I mean honestly that was disgusting! Also that Ice Capades thing (for those of you who have read the book) yeah that was sick too. I give the book only 4 stars cause of the nasty parts. Parents be WARNED this book should not be given to young childern who don't know certain vocabulary yet.
Rating: Summary: Better than the first, but... Review: This book was definitely better than the author's first. It was longer and obviously more sophisticated, but I still think it was just a little too shallow. She falls for this guy and rambles on for 50 pages about how much she loves him and then all of a sudden, she meets this guy on the internet and the other doesn't even exist anymore. She later dumps this guy and then after a long (not) period of soul-searching, she finally finds her true love in the guy she never expected to fall for and they live happily ever after. Blachhhh.
Rating: Summary: Okay... Review: This book was okay, it wasn't that great however. Sophie - a sixteen year old girl writes in sort of a diary form about all the meetings she come in contact with diffrent boys. I didn't like it that much because she was portrayed as a little too boy crazy for me.
